Mess before the Party

~

Jackson

~

"Jinyo, Yuga, where the heck are Mak and BaBam, did they not get the message. The party would be this evening, not tomorrow."

I had been relaxed earlier, since both my left hand and right hand betas were always punctual, but seems like I was too confident. And above all since this morning I had a sinking feeling in my stomach that something was wrong.

Jinyo looked at me, as I paced the carpet of my study. He was relaxed, although a bit suspicious just like me. BaBam may have passed out drunk for all I knew, but I was sure Mak wasn't that careless.

"We can go and call them back if you prefer brother Jackson."

I frowned, while watching Jinyo besides me holding a cardboard box full of hot and cheesy pizza. I had already eaten so I wasn't hungry but the smell itself was salivating.

He took out a slice and tasted it, as he waited for my decision patiently. His rich purple blazer with blue and white stripped shirt, a grey toned lower really made him look funny, but his suit choice was his own, I couldn't bother with that. He looked ready for the party, unlike Yuga who was more casual and homey.

Yuga stood smiling at my intolerance, he was enjoying my frustration. "You should relax brother, getting anxious about something like this will only add to your stress level."

I growled low in my throat, my impatience showing through. I looked out the window towards the town, it appeared to be in some kind of festive mood as I could see the huge swings and the tall Ferris wheel.

"Is there a fair in town?" I asked curiously, almost losing interest in my worries.

Yuga sighed, "Yes... you keep forgetting brother, I told you about it earlier, you signed the approval yourself."

"Ya?"

"Yes, some neighboring towns decided to join the trade as well. We are expecting great commercial profits from it. And above all, tonight's party would ensure our seat in the council for a few more years to come before you decide to take over."

I hummed, satisfied with the development. But the small sense of peace vanished as soon as the door to my office slammed open and in came a very frightened upsilon of the pack. He was a lanky and thin male with shaggy blue hair. His golden eyes searching for me and when they found me, he immediately began to shake.

"Big brother, I bare b-bad news."

I scowled, "Calm down and tell me what happened."

"A-An omega came to town this morning and just an hour back he fought with brother BaBam. When he lost b-badly, brother Jay decided to join in, the fight then got intense but didn't last too long."

"So where is Jay." I knew Jay was good with his claws, I was just surprised to hear that BaBam got defeated by a mere Omega, must be drunk.

"Bro-Brother..." the upsilon paused, and I didn't find it very easing to hear. "Brother J-Jay also got defeated."

I scratched my ear with frustration, just before the grand party such incidents were uncalled for. "Send Mak there."

The upsilon whimpered, again, not a good sign. "Brother Mak got d-defeated as well. Currently all three are in the healing chambers. Brother Jae brought them in."

"Impossible! Are you sure?" I was unsettled by this, I was surely dreaming, an omega could never defeat three big fighters of my pack just like that. I called them my monster trio for a reason.

"He could be lying," Jinyo suggested, keeping down his pizza which was sure to get cold, but it was least of our problems.

"N-No, I am not lying Brother Jinyo," the upsilon pleaded, "Brother Jae himself came to me with that information."

"Ridiculous," I burst out, throwing away the cups from my old oak desk on to the floor, I felt like hurting someone very gravely and I knew who my game would be.

Yuga sighed next to me, tugging his blond hair in exasperation, "You should stay calm brother, in your temper you tend to turn and it results into a bloodbath, we don't want that, let's plan something and go with it. I think Jae is involved with the infiltrator now."

"Yes, that is why he isn't here," Jinyo commented thoughtfully, "is he giving us time to prepare. But if that omega defeated the rest, he wouldn't stand a chance against him." He turned to the messenger for further inquiry, "How did he meet you, did the omega escape before Jae could reach him? Explain in detail."

The shaggy hair nodded frantically, eager to finish his task and get away from us. I smirked, I was indeed dangerous to be around when furious. Gave me the peace that I hadn't lost my touch.

"The omega gave him a choice apparently, from what he told me, so he is bringing the culprit here in return for our brother's lives. He will delay bringing him here so that you could do some preparations if need be."

Yuga wanted to say something but he flinched when he saw me, same went with Jinyo.

I was just trying to reason why Jae would deliberately undermine my strength in favor of that omega's. Why would he think that I needed time to prepare myself. I was his leader, how dare he show such disrespect to me. And the nerve of that kid, bringing the enemy to the palace, my palace. "I am the leader, am I not Jinyo, Yuga..."

They both nodded, without hesitation.

"Then why would Jae dishonor me by doing what that assh*le wants, furthermore, he is trying to warn me to prepare in advance." I started to laugh at how idiotic and humiliating his actions were, also, he was my sworn brother who had full knowledge of my powers, but even then he decided to disrespect me.

"Tell me as soon as that omega enters the gates, I will personally meet him and end this whole ordeal. We don't need such rubbish trampling the party."

The first gate we saw was gilded with silver and beaded with gold. The crystals enveloping around the middle spelled out 'Wang', and I was sure the white stones were diamonds, but I wasn't familiar with such treasures, hence even my knowledge about them wasn't at power with the rest.

The gates opened and we met with a view of a long walkway leading towards the fountains at the front of the palace steps, the palace sat atop an upraised platform.

The green fields on both sides were running along, the trees shading the passage with sprinkled relief from the sun, beautiful and lush.

I could hear the birds chirping, it was soothing and fresh, exactly how I imagined it would be.

While Jae walked ahead of me with a humble stoop, I followed behind him keeping a wide gap between us.

I whistled while looking around with interest, a poor fellow like me needed such pleasures once in a while. Not everyone got to enjoy such a greeting walk.

But something attracted my attention away from the scenery, not far, near the skirting walls, I saw someone leaning against the lamp post.

Inquisitive, I focused my senses at the person and surely, I saw a very pretty boy, more like a young man around my age. He looked shorter than me in bearing and height, his hair a soft pink. His skin a smooth pale and his lips supple. His eyes were a deep grey, filled with an innocence I hadn't seen around in years. Who was he?

He was looking at me playfully with a soft pout, as if a kid. But then he grinned at me and ran away somewhere in the gardens. The thick hedges blocking my view so I couldn't tag him through.

A strange warmth flowed through my veins and a heavy emotion filled my gut. I tried to shut it out, whatever he induced in me, yet... I couldn't.

I hadn't realized that I had stopped, it hadn't even occurred to me until Jae called for me, looking quizzical.

I decided I wanted to ask who it was, just curious, mind you. "Who was that guy, the pink haired one."

"Huh?"

"That boyish young man, who was he, he was leaning against the lamp post just there," I pointed towards the location on our left.

Jae frowned, "We don't have anyone with that hair color, Brother Jackson doesn't prefer pink."

"Then who was that?"

Jae shrugged, "You are hallucinating, I saw no one around. My nose is strong, I would have smelled him."

I blinked, honestly wondering if I was really daydreaming, it wasn't making sense. Maybe they were hiding him as some sort of treasure, it could be. He looked pretty, a bit dangerous, sweet and eye catchy. His lips red and his eyes wide.

Packs like Jackson's had all kinds of undisclosed secrets they kept hidden for later use. Like liquid money.

A corner of my mind whispered, 'What if he is a slave... or worse, a sex slave, you know it's a hyped up trend around these parts of land.'

Another part of me, which was more sensitive to such cause was repulsed by such notion. So now I had an additional factor needing clearance from Jackson's interrogation and subjugation. If he was really following this appalling trend, I would not think twice before beheading him, the fest could wait.

I paused again, sensing another presence coming towards me, it's aura was raging and a foul scent of anger was infused with a masculine one. I tensed, knowing it was the alpha, although not as strong as many, with a hint of an beta in him. As an omega I was very sensitive to it.

Jae coward back, a little closer to me than I would have suspected, he must be in big trouble, something I didn't wanted to get involved in, although it seems I already had put myself out there by picking up a fight with his betas. So...

"Brother J-Jackson?" my escort stammered, noticing the tall frame which stood before us, hadn't been there a second ago.

I smirked, the alpha was fast, which meant he was strong.

And the alpha also appeared to be pissed, just by looking at his face I could write down all the insults he must be thinking about me. And I wouldn't even blame him, I did thrash his two betas and one gamma. While the sigma was forced to do my bidding. Aish... I was in a big mess wasn't I...

My heart stirred with desire again. The desire to subdue.
