43 Future Plans 2

"Hey Lin Xi Xi, you came from an ordinary family too right?" Hong Yao directed his question to the always quiet teammate of their group.

Lin Xi Xi gave Hong Yao a knowing look before she nodded. "Mmm. My family ancestor were regular merchants. Eventually the shop was passed down to my father. My family wants to pass it down to me because I am the only child. I would like to go University instead, to broaden my horizons."

This was the most Lin Xi Xi had spoken ever since Hong Yao and Li Tian had met her. It seemed that her ambitions were inclined towards computing rather than her parent's hope. She gave a light nudge to the youngest member in the team. Li Tian had not spoken this whole time. 

Not just to Lin Xi Xi, but everyone felt like they could not figure out what was going on in Li Tian's head. The boy may be socially awkward at times, but he does talk more over than Lin Xi Xi. Yet, there was still a sinking feeling in the three of them when they looked at Li Tian. It was like the yet-to-be teenager had a bottomless abyss in his heart that could not be understood or felt out by the people around him.

Li Tian could tell everyone was waiting for him to say something. He thought about it and just said out the first order of business he needed to complete. 

"I have to get into top 10 in the "Survival Of The Fittest" examination. This is the only thing in my head at the moment. University and future worries can come after this."

"Hmm? Do you have something you need to attain from the examination?" Hong Yao asked curiously. It was a known fact that the top 10 in this examination every year would receive a special reward from the Central Government. The reward varied every year, which was why he was curious as to whether Li Tian had a hint on what the reward was.

"Not really. I'm really doing this for myself and for both Kong Huo Yu and Lin Xi Xi. The both of you would like to enter the big 5 University and as such, the extra admission score points would do the two of you more good too. As for myself, this top 10 will determine whether I can live to see another day."

"Woah, woah, woah. Li Tian don't start scaring us like that. It is only just an examination. Why say things like life and death if you fail to get the top 10 position?" The group was at first touched by what Li Tian had said about helping one another out to get a better score. The mood was suddenly ruined when he brought up about losing his life if he failed to get the position.

Li Tian smiled cryptically. He laughed away the awkward situation and acted like he had not said anything before. "I'm kidding guys. Let's just try our best to get top 10 for the sake of the Captain and Vice-Captain of our Anime Enthusiast Club!"

Deep in Li Tian's heart, he knew that the secret of the system was not something he can share with anybody. The system had given him many benefits ever since he had stepped into the world of Terra. Yet, it definitely did things and gave things to him for unknown reasons. The curious side of him wanted to know why, but the peaceful side of him also just wanted to live a tranquil life.

With the end of the joint exercise, Li Tian's regular school life resumed again. Lesson carried on as normal. High Schools in the Land of Hua, not only prepared students for practical applications, they also focused on growing their theoretical knowledge on different subjects. There were two core written exams that are taken by high school students. The one for the smart and gifted students had their eyes on an exclusive scholarship through the Gifted People Proficiency Test, or more known as GPPT. As for the normal students, their attention was focused on the High School Graduation Examination, also known as HSGE. In the HSGE, there were five subjects, each out of 100, totalling at 500. The subjects were Mathematics, History, Demonic Beast Knowledge (DBK), Geography and Foreign Language. 

In terms of DBK, students learnt about the most common types of Demonic Beasts that lived around the borders of the Land of Hua. They would have to understand their key characteristics, weak points, diet, strength levels and many more about Demonic Beasts. In terms of Foreign Language, as every high school student learned subjects using Mandarin, there was no need to test that further. With the idea of improving a student's multilingual capability, they would be tested on a second language of their choosing. Most students would choose English as the Holy Kingdom was known as one of the strongest countries in Terra. The rest of the subjects could be said to be similar to the subjects in Li Tian's Earth, where only the context would vary between worlds. 

Just before the "Survival of the Fittest" examination, the GPPT would be held first in the beginning of November. The HSGE would only be held after the "Survival of the Fittest" examination. As such, the smart students throughout the country were prepping for the GPPT, while the students that knew were not going to make the cut, would focus on increasing their knowledge pool.
