Diamond Ring

A glow that a truly happy person has. Her big blue eyes gazed up at me as she smiled. Her beautiful brown hair, accompanied by beautiful white flowers which flowed through the wind. How nostalgic...

"BWAHAHAHA! Aunt Linda would kill you! Look at the big dent!" She laughed freely as her brown hair was sweeped by the wind. The cold breeze sending shivers up my spine.

"We could've died you know! ?" I sighed to myself, We almost fell over the cliff when we hit a tree and she still has the confidence to laugh it off.

"Well if you didn't almost make a roadkill out of that squirrel we would've not been in here." She tried to testify against me.

"Oh, so you would rather us become the roadkill than that single animal." I raised both my hands out of frustration.

"Well, I'm sorry. I was surprised when it suddenly ran across the road." Rested my head on the car door and sighed once more. Luckily the tree was there at the right position or we'll probably be dead below the cliff. The car was still working though it had this big dent. My mom's gonna kill me.

"I'll help you get it fixed!" She suddenly shouted. I raised my head to look at her and she was wearing a big smile as if we weren't almost killed a few minutes earlier. The sun shining on the side of her face as the wind continuously blow her brown locks was a sight to see. I snapped myself out of it before it continues even more and just got inside the car to go home.

"..." She stared at me but I ignored it and drove away after she sat in the car.

"..." I ignored her in my peripheral but her blue eyes became moist. She started sobbing which made me stop driving.

"Don't tell me you want to vrash now?" We were nearing the highway and before we even got caught in another crash, I stopped at the side of the road.

"I'm sorry, I really am. Don't be mad." She covered here face and continued sobbing. Do you really expect me to be mad when you're like this?

"I'm not mad."

"But you are."

"Not with you." This made her stop sobbing and looked at me with a questioning look.

"I'm angry at the squirrel."

I smiled as the memory passed vividly through my mind. Those teen years were the most troublsome years I've had and she was always there, whenever I was sad, angry, lonely, or happy. She was there with me laughing or crying. The music began to play. A serenade soothing to the ears can be heard. The spotlight shone under us and as if time slowed down, I admired her white dress that hugged her figure and the veil that was resting on her hair.

I placed my hand in front of her and bowed slightly.

"May I have this dance, young lady?" I said in an english tone

"Pft, hahaha...Well of course monsiour." She curtsied as if we were in an aristrocratic ball and took my hand. I led her towards the dance floor as the others did too.

The song was a serenade soothing to the ears. It was very calm and romantic. She smiled at me as we began to dance.

"You look dashing tonight." She geniunely said.

"Well you look beautiful." I returned the compliment.

"Well tonight's ball was very special because my mother had prepared for it. You know how much roses were grown just for today?" She talked in a posh accent and started acting.

"Pft, *ehem*. As expected of lady William, I expect that the porcelain teacups were especially from France?" I laughed and went on with her.

"Oh how could I disappoint monsiour Klin? The stuffing used for the cushions were peacock feathers exclusively from India."

"Hahahahaha!"

"Pft, bwahahaha." We broke into hysteric laughter as we dance. I knew that this would be one of the most memorable evening that I'll ever keep. The soothing song which accompanied the beauty of Caroline before me. She was wearing a blue dress that made her eyes pop.

Someday... I'd surely see her in a white one, a white dress accompanied by a white veil and her finger adorned by a diamond ring that I gave....someday.

The soothing music was calming and romantic, taking me back to our senior prom. The nostalgic feeling made my heart heavier. This was the same song we had danced to 5 years ago.

She stood there stunningly. With a white dress accompanied by a white veil. She stood there, laughing beautifully. She stood there, her fingers adorned with a diamond ring. She stood there, but not with me. She stood there smiling, but not to me. She stood there, and I stood here...

I stood here, behind the crowd. I stood here holding, not her hand, but the memories she had left behind. She was with him and not with me.

"I thought it was me, but it was him. Here I was, sure that you were the one, but there you were, choosing someone." I whispered to myself and after a moment, I began lifting my foot to leave. Away from all of this bullsh*t. I turned around and walked straight towards the door to the outside.

Why did I even come?
