18 Stubborn Tomoya

*Knock, knock, knock*

Knocking gently on the office door, Kenichi felt strange being called by the teacher for Aki.

From what was written in his diary and what he had observed so far, Tomoya is not the type of guy to get into trouble.

"Please come in."

Hiratsuka-sensei's voice came from the office, but it seemed a little more annoyed and irritable than usual.

Pushing the door open, he went inside the staffroom. In addition to Shizuka and Tomoya, there were several other teachers in the office.

Some of these teachers were working, some were drinking tea, and some were paying attention to Shizuka's situation. They looked like they wanted to watch some kind of show.

"Hiratsuka sensei, I was informed that you were looking for me." He came forward towards Shizuka, who was sitting down with Tomoya standing beside her.

She was obviously a beautiful woman, but when he thought about her iron fist and her smoking habits, he understood why she didn't have a boyfriend or husband even at such an old age.

"Hey, I feel like you are thinking about something rude."

Shizuka frowned.

Was it the legendary woman's intuition?

"Um, Hiratsuka-sensei, what do you want from me?"

Kenichi asked again.

"Forget it. I'm looking for you because of this guy, Tomoya Aki. You seem to be his only friend."

She temporarily put aside the weirdness coming from her sixth sense and pointed directly at Aki.

"Actually, he does have other friends."

"Are they all the same type of guys like him who keep shouting about how the 2D world is the best and the third dimension simply sucks?"

She raised an eyebrow.

"Sensei, the 2D world is indeed the best. The third dimension is really boring and unappealing." Aki pointed it out.

*swooosh*

Shizuka punched directly, and her fist grazed Aki's cheek. The strong wind brought by the fist even blew Aki's hair around, making it messy.

Aki's face turned a little pale at this time: "Hiratsuka-sensei, even if I die, I still insist on my opinion. The 2D world is the best, and the third dimension is bad."

"Can't you be more normal? There are many otaku in school, but none of them are as extreme as you. It is not an issue to like the 2D world, but it is worrying when you become too immersed in it and start to lose sense of the reality around you. You even scare some students when you become too passionate."

Shizuka had a headache; she could ignore the delinquents outside the school or just give them the iron fist, but Aki was her student, and she could not use the same tactics.

His problems require a different approach.

"Since I love it, why should you hide it? Do you have to give up your most beloved hobby just because you fear others eyes? By the way, Hiratsuka-sensei, I just saw you reading "Weekly Shonen Jump", and it's the latest issue. Which one is your favorite manga?"

"Shut up." Shizuka said it with an annoyed face.

"Hasegawa, you have also seen for yourself that this guy likes the 2D world on a pathological level. As his only friend, you should try to help him before it is too late."

She looked helpless.

"Well, he did go a bit too far."

"No, it's normal for me to be like this, okay? I obviously like anime and manga, but I have to hide it; that is absurd. And the 2D world carries the hopes and dreams of young men all over the world, while the 3D world only knows how to keep spawning problems." Aki retorted loudly.

"Shut up!" Shizuka rubbed her temples.

"Anime and manga do not feel much different from other hobbies. There is no problem with Aki liking it. The reason he behaves like this may be because he is too passionate."

Kenichi scratched his head and bitterly smiled, but still expressed his point of view.

"That's right, my feelings for the second dimension are very passionate. Kenichi, you really understand me. By the way, Kenichi, that novel you wrote is really great. You should have shown it to me earlier. In this way, I can give you some advice while you are writing, instead of showing it to me after the first volume is finished, like now."

Aki complained to Kenichi, going off topic.

Kenichi's eyes twitched. Aki was a guy who completely ignored the occasion when talking about the things he liked. This is a staffroom, and there were teachers there.

He actually revealed that he was writing a novel.

"To be honest, this kind of creativity is really impressive; even among the many light novels that I have read, this one is still in the top ten. It's very good, for example--"

Aki became energetic and actually tried to discuss the light novel at that very moment.

"That's enough, Tomoya!"

Shizuka's veins were pulsing, and she finally couldn't help it and shouted loudly.

"Uh."

"…" Kenichi

"Hasegawa, are you writing a novel? I observed that you listened very seriously in class and completed your homework without failure. I thought you were a good student who does not take his studies for granted. I didn't expect you to be writing a novel, but it makes sense. You are Tomoya's friend after all; how can you be normal?"

Shizuka looked at Kenichi helplessly.

She had a very good impression of Kenichi. Although he doesn't seem to like communicating with his peers and is a friend of a problem student like Tomoya, he was still not bad.

"I won't stop you from writing novels. However, now that you are a student, it is better to prioritize your studies more. After all, your situation is different from that of other students. It would be better to have decent grades and get into a decent university."

Shizuka calmly reminded him.

Because she understood the situation of Kenichi being sent to Tokyo from the countryside just to pursue a better education.

"Thank you, Hiratsuka-sensei, for your concern. I will study hard."

He understood her concerns.

"That's right. Tomoya, you see how a student should respond to a teacher?"

As she said that, Shizuka glanced at Aki resentfully. His personality was surprisingly stubborn.

"Sensei, you can't say that. I like the anime and manga very much. Even in the future, I will devote myself to the 2D world and get a job related to it. It would be the perfect life experience for me." Aki retorted.

"Hmph." Shizuka just snorted and gave him the stink eye.
