Infiltration turns deadly.

"I've gotta leave for the hidden rain, too find info on the Akatsuki leader, Pain" Jiraiya said to Kohana and Tsunade

"Why do you have to go in person what about sensing a shadow clone and starting outside the hidden rain village" Kohana said

"I don't have a much chakra as you, Kanae, and Katsuo do. I'll be fine" Jiraiya said

"Shes right, it's risky, even more so if it turns out Pain is there, send out a signal if you need help, I'll come to your aid right away" Tsunade said

"You can't. You have to look after the village, and your the liason for the Akatsuki case, you need to deliver the report to Gaara. I'll come back." Jiraiya said confidently, before grunting as Kohana crashed into him, hugging him tightly,

"I'm begging you here. Gramps. You better come back alive." Kohana said Jiraiya putting his hands on her back,

"Geez, you two are really worried huh? Well, tell ya what. Tsunade you bet everything on me dying, you like gambling right, plus you always loose so there you go. Kohana, I'll need you to hold onto this for me, I'll grab it off you when I return." Jiraiya said putting a black bracelet on her wrist and Kohana looked at him before nodding,

"Be safe pervy sage I'm serious" Kohana said

Kohana was at the sand village delivering a message from Tsunade to Gaara acting as a liaison specifically when it came to Akatsuki affairs. Informing Gaara of their hunch that Jiraiya went to follow, she stood in his office her hair in bubble braids on either side of her head as she wore a sleeveless black cropped top with a white skirt with black shorts underneath, wearing her shuriken holster on her right thigh with her kunai pouch on her back. She wore her ninja headband around her forehead, showcasing the leaf symbol. With her red sage cloak over her shoulders, the cloak had short sleeves, with blue climbing up the arms and bottom of the cloak, she had a smaller scroll for sage jutsu on her back waist, it wasn't as big as Jiraiya's but it still did the job. She also had three black bracelet on her wrist. Gaara sat behind his desk, his arms folded in front of him, as he hummed.

"I see, so Jiraiya's gone to pursue this on his own, while Katsuo, Kanae, and the others are on the mission pursuing a lead on Itachi. That correct." Gaara said and Kohana nodded

"Precisely. depending on what he finds though, we may be in for a… we will be in for a fight." Kohana said and Gaara nodded,

"I agree, so what's the leaf's plan?" he asked, Kankuro was in the room as well, but he was mostly just listening, same thing with Temari.

"According to the intel we were able to gather on the road, and then immediately after our return, they have 1-7 tails. Shukaku, Matatabi, Isobu, Son Goku, Kokuo, and Chomei. Which means they'll either come for the 8tail, Gyuki. Or the 9tail Kitsune that Naruto holds next. I'm less worried about them attacking and more about why they've been targeting jinchuriki and tailed beasts specifically. I did some research on that statue that Neji saw… the one that took Shukaku's chakra… It's called the gedo statue. Or as it's better known, the 10tailed beast husk." Kohana said passing forwards her notes. Going to grab her cup of green tea that she'd been sipping on during the discussion when the cup not only garnered a small crack, but shattered completely.

"That's a bad omen… What do you think it means? Kohana?" Gaara asked and Kohana hummed a moment before putting her hand on the ground as she kneeled down

"No no no come on.. *sighs* Katsuo and Kanae are okay so are the others from the leaf I can sense them. I was the only other mission sent out from the leaf aside… *eyes widened* aside from pervy sage." She said the three going

up to the roof, Kohana putting her hand on the roof

"Pervy sage is in serious trouble! I'll be back. I'm sorry." Kohana said before disappearing. Teleporting straight to Jiraiya. She found herself underwater, she sliced through the poles on his back swimming under him a moment, she noted the smile on his face, she slapped him, hard, shaking him, but nothing seemed to shake him out of it. Kohana put her ear to his heart as her eyes widened,

"Pervy sage!!" She yelled though it was a garbled due to the water. She examined his body a moment, noting the missing arm when her hand came up bloody from looking at the stump. before she was forced to dodge attacks from above water, sending her own water style attacks towards Konan who was sending paper to stab through her. Kohana placing a marking on Jiraiya, who, was definitely dead,

'I was too late…' She thought her lungs felt like they were on fire as her heart worked overtime. Kohana let a tear slipped past her eyes underwater before kissing Jiraiyas forehead 'you won't be forgotten… sensei' She thought, before being hit with a different type of jutsu, hitting her thigh, causing her blood to mix with the clear water of the hidden rain. before teleporting back to the sand, she felt a shockwave as she completed the jutsu, just as black began to creep around the edges of her vision, the paper jutsu went through her upper shoulders, before an explosion hit her back as she completed the jutsu, the blast sending her tumbling back on the Kazekage building, Gaara catching her body on sand before she could hit the wall, Kohana having lost consciousness. Blood dripped from her wounds sluggishly, mixing with water,

"Shes not breathing." Gaara said urgently, starting cpr as Temari went for the medical team, a few minutes later Kohana moved her fingers, Gaara having been giving chest compressions to keep her blood flowing, the medical ninja unable to do anything until her heartbeat returned, instructing the kazekage what to do.

"Kohana?" Gaara said the girl gasped a moment before coughing, turning her head to the side as she coughed the water from the hidden rain. Taking gasping breaths

"Kohana, You're in the sand, how are you feeling?" Gaara asked as Kohana was

finally able to catch her breath, she glanced over, as the medical nin

wrapped her leg in bandages,

"It feels like my lungs are on fire." Kohana said between breaths, before falling unconscious once more, being transported to the sands hospital.

"We treated her wounds on her shoulder and leg, and treated her for the water that had built up in her lungs. She should be fine in a few hours." a medical nin said, Gaara nodded

"Thank you," He said and the medical nin was right, Kohana awoke again, a few hours later, this time with less pizazz, as she lay in the hospital bed, blinking slowly for a moment before sitting up, noting her lack of weaponry and cloak, though thankfully she still had her sleevless crop and skirt on. She looked at her hands, before the memories came flooding back to her, the water, explosions, Jiraiya…

"Hey, your awake." Kankuro said, Kohana looking over,

"How long was I out? I need to get to the leaf." Kohana said before wincing and grabbing her shoulder,

"You're in no condition to travel. What happened? You were out for a few hours" Temari said also walking in with Gaara,

"It was Pain. The hidden rain is under the Akatsuki's control." Kohana said

"You're sure." Kankuro said

"Positive." She said

"What about Master Jiraiya?" Gaara said and Kohana looked at her hands a moment,

"I was… I was too late, by the time I reached him, he was dead. Pain killed him." Kohana said sitting up further, the sand siblings looking at her in concern, they knew how close she was to Jiraiya, she looked at their faces a moment before looking away,

"I'll cry at the funeral. We don't have time for me to loose control. I need to warn Granny Tsunade, Pain's coming for the leaf next. We need to be prepared for a large scale attack." Kohana said stumbling a moment as she got out of the bed, before steadying herself,

"How bad?" Temari asked,

"Big enough that I'm recommending the evacuation of the village." Kohana answered, before sneezing a moment, into her right elbow,

"I bet you caught a cold from your trip." Kankuro said and Kohana shook her head,

"I need to go inform Granny Tsunade, if they've gone as far as to kill pervy sage. Then I fear we've just confirmed the leaf as their next target. Which means I've gotta help them prepare. So we're ready to inform Katsuo and Kanae. By we I mean geezer sage." Kohana said

"Do you think the leaf will need the Sand's assistance in the battle?" Gaara asked

"No." Kohana said

"What?! Are you nuts!" Kankuro said and Kohana looked over

"No, but these guys took out pervy sage, suffice it to say that Kanae and Katsuo aren't going to be pleased when they find out. Not to mention, all three of us know sage jutsu *Moving her cloak a moment as a showcase*, so between the three of us or hell even if it's just Katsuo, Pain doesn't have a chance." Kohana said her voice was still soft and airy as though she hadn't broken down at all,

"Are you sure the leaf will be okay… you'll be okay?" Temari said

"I am. And I have to be." Kohana said

"Hey so, before you go, really quick, who's the oldest between you three, I never understood how that worked" Kankuro asked and Kohana looked over

"I'm the oldest, Katsuo is the youngest." Kohana said, before taking in a breath,

"If I'm being honest I'm terrified to tell granny, but I have to be the one to do it, before Geezer sage can, but it'd be easier." Kohana said

"I wish you good luck" Gaara said, though it was his understand that the three K's had a closer relationship with the woman,

"I've gotta work on my speed and hone it even more." Kohana said

"Well, you're not gonna get anywhere standing here, let's go." Temari said grabbing her hand and dragging her behind the girl, having a mission for the leaf anyways and deciding to drag Kohana with her.

"Kohana, you're back early from the sand, did you guys discuss a plan of action in regards for the Akatsuki." Tsunade asked before looking up, taking in her shaken appearance, Kohana looked ready to crumble at any moment, maybe not to the outside, but Tsunade could read her clear as day.

"What happened." She asked and Kohana hummed,

"You don't know? I guess that makes sense… um… okay." Kohana said taking a breath once more,

"You remember Pervy sage's mission… the one he just…" Kohana said and Tsunade's eyes widened

"Don't tell me he's injured.." Tsunade said and Kohana felt a tear slipped past her cheek,

"No… um, granny. He's… he's not coming home." Kohana said and Tsunade's eyes widened,

"I had an awful feeling in the pit of my stomach in the middle of my report to Gaara, so I used flying raijin to get to him, but… I was too late" Kohana said, looking at her hands, reminding Tsunade of herself, Kohana cried silently, before tensing up a moment, Tsunade having walked around her desk hugging the girl tightly, tears falling from her eyes.

"Okay, so Katsuo and Kanae will be back alongside the rest of the chunin, and Kakashi. Do you have any more information?" Tsunade asked and Kohana took in a shakey breath,

"I didn't see pain when I went over there but there was a woman who used paper jutsu, with a flower in her hair." Kohana said

"Go rest, I'll have shikamaru get on this." She said and Kohana nodded, leaving to the apartment she shared with her siblings, laying in Narutos bed she fell asleep holding onto the photo frame they had of Jiraiya just before they left for training.

'Lets see if this works' kohana thought going deep into her inner mind, shed always felt a foreign presence in her mind, but wasn't sure what it was, so now she was taking the opportunity to search, to keep her mind away from the obvious. She found herself in a place with water surrounding her on the ground, with doors also surrounding her. She let her instincts guide her, well… that and she wanted to find someplace the darkness that was infecting the water couldn't reach her, she also wanted to find out the source of the presence. Running through a random door, she crashed into someone who grunted at the impact, Coming face to face with a blonde man looking like an exact copy of Katsuo, minus the whiskers. Wearing a blue ninja uniform and a jonin flack jacket, a leaf headband tied around his forehead. The man looked startled to see her.

"Uh… who the hell are you and what are you doing lurking in my head?" Kohana said preparing to use jutsu

"Hey! Wait wait wait! Kohana! Kohana you've got the wrong idea" the man

said, Kohana narrowing her eyes noting the cloak

"Your the 4th hokage, but then why are you in my head hey wait you called me Kohana, you know my name?" Kohana said

"This is way sooner than I thought we'd be meeting but it's using your chakra to do so, not a lot but, still. As for how I know your name, that's because I'm your father. I picked out your name" Minato said, Kohana freezing

"Your our… father? And your inside our minds…and also dead…" Kohana said Minato laughing embarrassedly with a hand behind his head, Kohana poking his cheek, causing Minato's blue eyes to meet her own,

"What are you doing?" He asked

"I heard that after a traumatic event, it's possible to see aperations. Aperations aren't solid though so I guess your story checks." She said

"I've been watching, I know what happened with Jiraiya sensei." Minato said before putting his hands on both her shoulders

"His death. Was not and is not your fault. I can feel you blaming yourself, but its not your fault Kohana" Minato said

"Dad, I was too late, if you've been watch… hey wait.. Dad you pervert!" She said slapping the man as her hair raised

"I… huh?" He said

"You watch is everywhere?" She said

"Huh? Oh.. oh you dont think? No, no no no, only when it seems important" Minato said rubbing his cheek, before grunting as Kohana ran into his chest hugging him tightly,

"You had your reasons for leaving, but… did you… was it because… did we do something… is that why you and mom weren't… Why you didn't stay?" She said and Minato looked shocked for a moment,

"No! No, no no no, no of course not. You three had nothing to do with what happened. Doing the attack we did the only thing we could think of to protect you three and the village." Minato said hugging her tightly,
