Tricking The Vampire King

‘I became the Vampire King’s chamberlain!’ ‘He thinks I’m a man!?’ ___ The evening that Reina Gomez experienced one of the biggest betrayals in her life was the day her life came to an end. Helping her elder sister, a three times failed author, in her research for her next project had turned out to be the cause of her demise. The efforts she had put in to teach her sister everything that she knew was not repaid with gratitude. The day of the new book’s release brought sorrow to Reina who had high expectations from the project that she had lent her support in. No matter how many times she refreshed the novel’s site, the result was the same. “Where the heck is the BL tag!?” She cried out for answers but to no avail. Her sister who had learned everything there is to know about BL for the new book had done something unexpected. ‘She wrote a frickin vanilla Vampire love story instead!’ She sniffled while finding solace in the one thing that never disappointed her. Her blurry eyes fell on the cover of the novel and her scowl deepened. The petite woman with cotton-candy colored hair surrounded by three breathtakingly handsome men was not something that she was hoping for. ‘Stupid reverse harem.’ She sneered while chugging the contents of the bottle. Her eyes shut that night only to awaken in a different room the next morning. From a drunken daze to panic at what had taken place, Reina soon realized what was wrong. The images flashing across her eyes displayed a life that was not her own. ‘Memories…’ She deciphered the meaning of these images. Staring at the new face in the mirror, Reina blinked those icy blue eyes as a name formed in her mind. ‘Rein Melk… The Vampire King’s chamberlain.’ She repeated the identity of the new body she was in. Was it not enough that she was in a different world, in a different body? She now had to pretend to be the King’s loyal servant. ‘A manservant at that!’ She grimaced as her new life seemed too hard to live. Tricking the Vampire King never was an easy task but doing so while possessing jumbled memories of this body was way harder. __ As days passed, Reina began to adjust to the world, living in the body of Rein Melk. However, she began noticing something strange. ‘Why do these men seem so familiar?’ She wondered while gawking at the three handsome men she was sure to have seen somewhere in the past. The pretty lady with pink hair further brought up a sense of deja vu. ‘Wait…!’ Her eyes widened when it finally clicked. __ With a large chunk of her memories still missing, will she be able to discover everything about the body she possessed? A nameless cannon fodder in the story her sister wrote, was that her fate now? Was the identity of Rein Melk as simple as a servant concealing her true gender or was there more at play here? Numerous questions with answers yet to be obtained. This was the life of Rein Melk, the one tricking the Vampire King.

The Changes In His Servant

Back inside her room, Reina was unaware of the dangers she had brought upon herself for the unique punishment she had come up with for the mistake that Treegan had made.

In fact, she was eagerly waiting for tomorrow to dawn so that she might witness him being punished with her own two eyes.

'That would be a sight to behold.' She grinned lasciviously at the thought of what would take place soon.

As her mind was conjuring images that were worth drooling over, she heard the sounds of a door opening and turned in its direction.

'He must've completed his morning routine.' She surmised and prepared herself to be summoned soon.

'Rein, get your ass here!'

Just as she had expected, King Zander called out his chamberlain's name and Reina hurried over in the next instant.

Cringing at the beautiful voice of her Meteor Sama being used to spew such vulgar words, Reina pushed down her dissatisfactions with the vile King as she strode towards him.

She found the man standing tall before the mirror and knew what had to do be done next.

She had already done this yesterday so she wasn't as dazed and clumsy while helping him button his cuffs and put on the royal robes over his shoulders before adjusting them to help him look prim and proper.

Nonetheless, Reina wasn't used to being this close to anyone, especially a man who could end her life at any instant.

For an introvert with mysohobia, standing this close to anyone would be a problem for her but she was doing her best as this was no ordinary man.

He was the King who ruled this land and just yesterday she had seen him snap his fingers to obliterate someone.

If she did not wish to end up as splotches of blood spraying everywhere then she needed to behave in a manner that was appropriate for her position.

Therefore, she was determined to be cautious and would try not to offend the powerful man in any way.

She also did her best to not create distance between them right now no matter how much that could ease her anxious heart as that would spark suspicions in his mind.

"Doctor Bundt will be arriving soon." The King's gravelly voice entered her ears and his whisper made her flinch.

While she was focused on helping him dust the robes she had just put over his shoulders, the man had glanced over his shoulder as he mentioned the physician's name.

Discovering that his face was suddenly so close to hers, the poor vampire lady pretending to be a man stood frozen in place.

Thankfully, he was quick to look back at the mirror before him, ignorant of the fact that he had created a living statue behind him.

Noticing his movements, Reina breathed once again and took this opportunity to hurriedly complete her work here.

"Yes, Your Majesty." She replied to the reminder he had given to her.

After learning that his servant had not taken the medication meant for him, King Zander had first punished the culprit, Treegan, then summoned the physician who should be arriving at any moment now.

The King had done this so that Doctor Bundt could treat Rein and give him the medication necessary for him to recover.

'Though I doubt he needs it.' The tall man's golden eyes fell on the petite man standing behind him, almost hidden by his own large stature.

The King was surprised to see his servant back to his usual appearance despite not taking the medication but he did not wish to let anything be overlooked.

Thus, he had commanded the physician to arrive soon.

However, he would be unable to remain here any longer as it was almost time for his morning court session.

Reina had completed her work by now and grabbed the chance to stand at a distance away from the man, waiting for him to scrutinize her handiwork and give his approval.

'He looks great anyway.' She scoffed in her heart as this man would look handsome even in tatters.

He would not have to work very hard to attract the attention of those around him as his regal aura and his eye-catching appearance did that for him anyway.

Added to that, the clothes that she had chosen for him to wear today made him look even more stunning which she was sure the others would appreciate.

'Especially his Queen Candidates.' She grinned with her head lowered as those women would drool over him if they were to meet him right now.

Still oblivious about the punishment that the two ladies, Lady Marin and Lady Amaira were undergoing right now, Reina was engrossed while imagining what their reaction to the King's impressive appearance would be.

However, lost in her thoughts, she failed to notice the narrowed eyes which had fixed on her lowered head.

King Zander had completed assessing his appearance and was just about to praise his servant when he found the same man's mind wandering about.

He hadn't even noticed that his Master had turned towards him and continued to be oblivious to what was happening around him.

'Why is he always lost in thoughts?' He leered at his servant who seemed to have changed in the last two days.

This servant would often gaze at him with worship evident in his eyes but now that was no longer the case and instead, he had seen fear and worry present.

This fear was often visible when Rein was dealing with the others and not with him but that seemed to have changed.

Even this morning, he had seen how Rein had glared back at Treegan without cowering like he would in the past.

While he was pleased that this servant was growing a backbone, at the same time, he was not pleased with the other aspect of this change.

Now, his servant appeared to be frightened while dealing with him after the poisoning incident which would become a problem if this continues.

After all, the King had only one issue with his servant's current behavior.

If he continues to flinch every time he gets closer, will he be able to serve his Master well?

Looks like the King has noticed the changes in Rein's personality already. What will happen next?
