Calix's pov 2

" We are here." Lion said

" Is the team ready?" Calix asked 

" Everybody is in their respective positions." Lion answered 

" Begin." Calix smoothly issued the command. From the moment he issued the command, soliders of different ranks rolled out of their hiding places to initiate the ambush attack or raid as per instructions. The raid was planned from a tip off that a subgroup of the Yris was in the country and they were behind the plaque that was tormenting people in the northern parts of the country. 

Though the world was relatively save, there were some instances whereby the army was dispatched for missions and such was the case as well. With great advances in tech, most countries now had access to nuclear weapons designed in a special way. This milestone was reached because of a threat more than 10 years ago when nations were suddenly attacked by an outside force that still puzzles many great minds today. Some people believed theories that the attack was launched by habitants of the other planets while some believed that this was the work of humans who sought world domination or the likes. 

Regardless, that event let to the invention of plutogenes. A person gets plutogenes when his DNA gets mixed with plutonium, the world's most dangerous radioactive element, well it was dangerous in the past. With tech advancements, a great scientist mind created a safer way for the plutonium to be injected into human cells and let the element merge with genes. In doing so, the plutogenes get activated allowing the person the ability to wield a special set of nuclear weapons or it just makes the person immune to the effects of plutonium poisoning. 

Many armies around the world had the privilege to access such a milestone because of the attack that forced the nations to come together and thanks also to that great mind who was actually from Areela science institute which was later known as Areela medical military intstitute. This is the reason why, Areela is the most feared and respected military institute on Earth. 

The invention of plutogenes let to the rise in prestige of two careers, a solider and a medical professional. Being a solider who can wield the different kinds of weapons was regarded as the most noble of things and often young men and women would join the army regardless of the status of their plutogenes because the army uniform commanded respect. For medical professionals, they were regarded as noble because they often got to work with plutogene specialist teams all of ranks because of their medical knowledge. No team ever went anywhere without a qualified medical officer. 

Prominent families worldwide got to their key positions thanks to having members with high ranking plutogenes. Plutogenes were ranked according to classes( depended on grade of merge between the gene and the plutonium element) and the potential strength of one's genes was determined from their bloodgroup. Here are the classes 

class F - the weakest of all the classes, not allowed on the battle field. People in this class are considered normal people

class E - The people in this group or class were often recruited as messengers in the army. They could protect themselves but have limited fighting spans 

Class D- the class at which army recruitment citeria started but heavily depends on the blood group.

Then classes A,B,C were regarded as excellent plutogenes and the people from these classes had the potential to be amazing plutogene soliders, specialists or even master specialists. 

For blood groups, If you had blood group A, AB and B your genes showed great potential to merge with the plutonium and your rank depended on whether the merge was a perfect grade, subperfect, avaerage, mixed or low grade. Blood group O was a neutral bloodgroup in which the merge will lead to protection from the posioning effects of the element. Lastly, there was a special subblood group that was very rare which was subgroup S. This particular subgroup was recessive so it was not powerful on its own but it could boost the other dominant bloodgroups ( A,B,AB,O) and make their potential even stronger than it initially was. 

The group under Calix's command were mixed classes of class B,C, D and E plutospecialists because his grandfather declared that Calix should be able to clear the mission regardless of the rank his team has. 

" He sure created one messy group for you. Though they have good coordination." Lion commented as they got out of their vehicle.

" Are you going to wield your weapon or are you with us as a health professional?" Calix asked Lion as they were now moving towards the ambush site where a lot of fighting could be heard. 

Lion scoffed and said " Funny you are asking me that question." 

" however, I have been itching for a fight and the training back there was not really that stimulatory." Lion added

" Well then, I will leave the commanding position to you." Calix said 

Lion scoffed again, " As if, do you want to run away from your duties again?" 

" No, it just means that I trust your abilities and I think we can pull this one off with your cabailities leading the way." Calix said with a serious face such that Lion could not read off his expression if he was plain flattering him or if he really meant it. 

" I almost felt flattered. What are you really planning Calix?" 

" Nothing, there's nothing wrong with trusting a comrade's abilities, is there?" 

" Well, if that is how you really feel then I should reply appropriately." Lion said 

" IT WOULD BE MY HONOR TO LEAD THE RAID, SIR" Lion said as he did a solider pose and saluted. 

" You did not have to shout you, I am right here. You damaged half of my sound conducting hair cells in my ear." Calix said as he rolled his eyes.

"Now that this has been decided, I will leave you to it, commander. Lead them well, I am off." Calix added with a mischievous grin. 

" What do you mean by that?" Lion asked as he felt that he had been tricked by his friend slash person in charge for their current mission. 

" If you are leading, I trust everything will go smoothly so I am not needed here and you know me, I do not like to waste time where I am not needed. Adios solider." Calix said as he walked towards back towards their sports car 

" I wonder how long it would take me to go back if I use fullspeed." he mumbled to himself 

" Wait! you are going back to her aren't you? At least wait for the mission to be over." Lion said 

Calix ignored him as he kept walking but then said, " Do not call me even if something comes up. Handle it well, okay?" 

" You..." Lion was speechless 

Calix simply waved as he walked away.

" 20 minutes. At full speed, it took me 20 minutes to get to this place." Calix mumbled to himself. 

Calix parked his car on the other side of the street across from Toshe Rock restaurant. He left the mission in hopes to get work done back at the mention but somehow when he got to the car he punched in the coordinates to the resturant instead. He stayed in his car and waited for hours before he could spot Alyssa and his colleague leaving the restaurant. 

His colleague inched towards Alyssa in an attempt to hug her at this occurence he felt something raging with him. Alyssa dodged the man and gave a polite bow then continued talking to the man. Calix exhaled with great relief because he did not know how much longer was he going to just sit and watch had Alyssa accepted his colleague's hug. 

After sharing a few words, his colleague left and Alyssa stayed behind. She walked a few steps before taking off her high heel shoes and walked barefoot. Calix started his car and followed her. She looked tired and very drained and this made Calix's heart ache but he had no intention of letting her know of his presence, he would just simply follow her quietly to ensure that she gets back safely. But why was she walking because the weather was not looking too good and it looked like it might rain at any moment which it did. 

Calix waited for Alyssa to find shelter from the rain but she did not, she kept walking.

Sigh, he stopped his car, took out an umbrella and walked in her direction.
