3 Chapter 3 : Magical Beast! (1)

[Year 24 Months 10]

The army, which had gone on a punitive expedition, appeared in the mountains, and descending hills, with various wounded on their backs. The horses were running at high speed, and the wagons were all abandoned along the way, while various soldiers fell backwards from fatigue. The commander was no better off, either.

"Run soldier! We arrive soon at our destination, a little more and we will be saved! " cried a commander, sweating and colored with blood, and stench.

The army of a thousand men, turned in his direction, and ran at full speed, before slowing down, and positioning themselves at his strategic place.

"Stop! Everyone sets up the tents, and prepares the fortifications against the magical beasts! Prioritize the pikes in front of the walls, and install ramparts, in order to get an advantage in height! Do not leave a breach in the wall! »

The commander withdrew, leaving orders to his subordinates, and leaned on his main body. He had a small wound on his chest, and he could make out blood running down his back.

"You've come back. Astral Commander. »

Astral was baffled by the voice, then turned his head, towards the tree on which he was leaning. "Ha! I apologize, Spirit Tree! I was too oblivious, and stupid for sitting on your body. »

He withdrew, and sat a little further away, from the original place. "How is the fighting going?"

Astral's face became even paler, and felt extremely ashamed of his achievements. "Very badly. The magical beasts ambushed us, counting a hundred dead, then a second ambush counting a thousand deaths, and a last one that cost us the lives of our experts, and elites, destroying our formations, and our expedition. »

He continued. "We withdrew, dodging complete annihilation, but the monsters followed us, and will arrive by then, in about three days. As soon as possible, in four days. »

The magical beasts easily destroyed the troops that were sent by the kingdom? And the archmages, and the sword masters are all dead? It was very strange, not to realize that there was a problem.

Maybe it was just a façade, and it was a trap to lure them, and kill them... Noah understood what was at stake. The scout had been wrong all along. The defeat of the army was inevitable, and he could no longer change the current turn.

Astral withdrew, after his wounds began to heal, and joined the command center with several second lieutenants, and captains in the hierarchy. The soldiers were all tired, and malnourished because of the flight.

And every man was desperate.

Noah didn't want to disturb, and continued to watch the soldiers build a solid barrier, as well as a complete defense center, with various soldiers in each row to defend enemy attacks.

He didn't want to fit in, and help, and no one wanted to seek help from a poor spiritual tree. Anyway, he didn't want to live like an advisor, and a general, and watch the monster horde approach.

Four days passed, and the first magical beasts arrived.

The elves positioned themselves at the top of their wooden walls, and bent down to aim with their bows, releasing a fire arrow valve, impaling 10 magical beasts that were trying to jump over the walls.

The magical beasts didn't just sit still, and wait for their dead to knock on their doors, and began to retaliate by sending fireballs through their mouths, on the elves who stood on the walls.

Some of the elves were hit, and were forced to withdraw, leaving a breach to open in the wall, before a short battle took place inside the enclosure. At the front was Astral, with silver armor fighting with a spear in his hand, and piercing a magical wolf.

The elves were outnumbered, while the monsters were twice as numerous. They tried to throw away, and throw away everything they had in their hands, and kill as much as they could, in order to get out alive.

The magical beasts were fearsome, and their sizes differed, but their intimidating aura was noticeable in each beast, sending waltzes of dizziness, killing many elves.

The elven soldiers were all terrorizing, but could not flee any further. So, they tried to charge together, and kill a huge amount of magical beast. The most powerful, and the highest-ranked, themselves taking the initiative of the army to charge.

As the number of monsters decreased, the elves regained their courage with both hands, and continued the battle, turning to their advantage, and killing the many magical beasts that tried to flee, after failing to annihilate their enemies.

Later, Noah was able to see the aura of some elves disappear, and go inside his body. Even if no one could see it, the elves had a natural consensus, to celebrate their victories first.

Thus, the heavy battle that cost the lives of many soldiers came to an end.

Along the way, many elven soldiers approached his body, and prayed to him, wishing to go to the side of the spiritual tree. "O spiritual tree. Welcome us into another life, and bless us with your aura! »

Astral approached me, and told me. « The Spirit Trees have the habit, and the custom of directing the souls of the deceased to the Realm of the dead, and thus turned into the Wheel of Reincarnation. »

So, there was such a custom in elven culture? No one had told him about it, so he thought it was strange, before finally understanding their thoughts. Humans took the gods, in order to atone for their sins, and welcome meaning to their lives.

Elves were the same as humans, and fishing for a new life, and unlike humans, the messengers of the gods were the Spirit Trees, who transit their souls to another Kingdom.

In their cultures, trees were the descendants and gifts of the gods, to mortals. And because the elves had notoriety, and a heritage with the influence of being god-blessed children, the Spirit Trees became Saints.

Naturally, the souls that entered his body, could not get out, and dissipated inside his spirit. Contrary to their beliefs, things were different. At the same time, Noah did not want to deny the elves' beliefs, and let them continue.

The dead elves were all buried under its roots, and embarked on a long journey. While the survivors withdrew from the hill, and joined Cartel Village, to resupply.

He has gained a level. [Level 26]

Noah has unlocked his first attack skill: [Vigne Stroke]

[Year 25 months 5]

A few hundred souls appeared around his body, floating in the air, and looking at his spirit. Who are you? Were they spirits of nature, or the spirits of the deceased buried under its roots?

Where was his imagination playing tricks on him? It had been a long time since that had happened. During his lifetime. Obviously, he knew they were real real people in front of him.

"Why are you still alive?"

One of the men who had risen in the air, explained. "We became spirits, when your roots encroached on our bodies. Now we are going through a process of dissipations through your roots, and your mind. »

He understood the reason, and wanted to understand how long it would last. The mind of the deceased did not know much information, and could not afford to mislead him with false information. And it was the same saying for every soldier. After all, it was not Druids, but ordinary soldiers who died.

A few days later, the spirits became bored, and began to talk to each other. Notably, the loudest were those who regretted being dead, and having abandoned their loved ones.

Spirits turned to him, pointing to him as a psychologist to comfort the dead, but Noah was embarrassed. He didn't want to become a doctor, or someone who was going to listen to their stories, and he wasn't interested in that kind of thing.

"Sniff... Please listen to my story... »

Hm... Noah was a little reluctant to listen, and try to ignore them, and then the spirits started whispering their problems, and their regrets, but he didn't care, and couldn't take it anymore, so he fell asleep.

The weather began to colder, and the snow began to descend, down the hill, and the mountain behind it. Shortly after, the soil began to turn white.

The animals dug themselves burrows, and the birds migrated freely with their wings. And he, too, was going to hibernate as usual, in order to pass the time, and not to feel the excessive freshness that made him sick, for some reason.

[Year 26 months 8]

The residents of Cartel Village approached. "O spiritual tree! Are you present? The villagers asked anxiously.

"Yes."

The locals rejoiced, and began to inform him of their goals. "We are here to ask you for fruit. Our rations, and our food, ran out, two weeks ago! »

Noah was surprised, and confused at first. Azra stepped forward, and detailed, the reason why, the lack of food was felt. "Spiritual tree, we see each other again. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a good meeting to discuss but here I am. Cartel Village has been suffering from a food shortage for two weeks, and only children and women have acquired the essential food to meet their needs. »

"At first this was tenable, but as the hunting team could not harvest enough food, it became a huge problem, causing famine inside the city itself."

Noah was listening seriously. "Why did you run out of food this winter? Didn't you last the previous winters? He asked intrigued.

Azra it became explained. "The magical beasts took over our hunting grounds, and all our crops were destroyed in the process. In the end, we had to resort to our grain reserves, but it was not enough. »

Noah nodded silently, and agreed.

It began to produce many fruits under its branches, thanks to its daily and daily reserves of mana, and men rushed to its branches in order to pick up the fruit.

A man appeared, and suddenly ate a fruit, not being able to resist the temptation because of his growing belly. The man took on a satisfied look, but not very happy. "Spiritual tree. The fruits are not very nourishing, but are very appetizing. »

Noah was taken aback, trying to find the reason why these fruits are not of high quality. A few glances were enough to know the reason. He hadn't changed the parameters of his fruit, and made it a little more nutritious for the people who ate it.

The locals tasted, and felt very satisfied with its fruits.

A few hours later, fruit bags were taken away by the inhabitants, and all the inhabitants came to see him, to thank him for his kindness, and his special gesture, promising to repay him one day.

At the same time, he gained a level [Level 27]

[Year 27 months 0]

Hunters encountered magical beasts, and got closer to him. One elf had his arm amputated, while the other suffered severe hemorrhage, even as he tried to flee at full speed, the magical and terrifying deer chased them at high speed.

Soon, the two elves buried themselves under its roots, and prayed for mercy. "O A-Spirit tree, watch over us to protect us from this monster...!"

Noah woke up from his sleep, and saw a large, horned, four-legged beast hurtling down his physical body. Ha! He felt attacked, and instinctively retaliated, swinging sharp vines in the direction of the beast, before impaling it, and making it shed enough blood, until it emptied, and died.

The two hunters had already fainted from their blood loss, and Noah had already cared for them, transplanting nutrients, and connecting their bodies, through his roots. The complexions of the two hunters were able to return to a normal color, and he was able to fall asleep.

In the meantime, he has gained two levels. [Level 29]
