Prologue

I am a 30 year old geek with nothing to be proud of in life other than an MMORPG designed for 12 year olds

My name was soma, I was a slim brunette who lived in a cramped apartment and did almost nothing but play my favorite game; Tales of Loracraft. Which I heroically dedicated almost 15 years of my life learning

Learning the name of all the NPC's, the bosses and preparations you needed to beat them, all locations and potions

While under my wise and snappy game alias, somaking

There was nothing i didn't know about the game and nothing I did know other than it, so I did nothing but play it

I tried my best to make my character look like me though, The game always had a serious extent of realism

WHATTTT! The sword of infinite nights!? That is the last thing I need to complete my collection and get 100 percent completion in the game!

Who knew randomly strolling round the village of beginners would put me in such a situation

I needed to challenge the noob before the game crashed, If not I would never forgive myself and some people mighta actually consider all the time I put into this game a waste! Pfft! Can you believe that!?

"Noober-z" "Can you hear me Noober-z!"

"Whoeth with crappy microphone seeketh upon me"

The weirdo replied, Attempting to talk like a renaissance king. I am not surprised as I definitely was not the only adult taking this kids game too seriously

"The microphone was on a sale and at least it is not connected to a headset"

Dude? No millennial, No matter how cool they claim to be would ever say "Dude". He was a teenager, His character was almost on the same level as mine tho. He would've probably ended up like me in a couple of years if the game was not about to shutdown its servers.

"I need the sword of infinite nights to complete my collection and be the first ever player to get a 100 percent completion in the game"

I thought as a fellow geek,the kid would reach into his heart and be willing to submit, but kids will always be nature's best pains in the ass"

"What do you mean no!?"

"I mean I am gonna be the one to do that"

"The game goes down in an hour, Kid there is no way-"

"There is, if you wager the rest of your gear in this battle as well, When I win, I would have no problem carrying that dream out for you"

He was a lot more like me than I thought

The sword of infinite nights was an exclusive collectible that could only be obtained on an online auction for 10,000 dollars

I set aside 100,000 dollars for it but

A few minutes before the auction was meant to start, I felt the need to take a shit, A shit unlike many others, This one felt like destiny

I thought it would only take a minute but I had lost track. And by the time I got back, my computer screen had the word "sold" all over it

The developers did a good job of hiding his real identity, if the world knew he was a kid, A lotta problems would've happened in his family. Now that I think about it what kind of irresponsible parent gives their kid 10,000 dollars?

"I agree"

"Good. Now I can use the very weapon that was meant to bring you into happiness, to take you into despair"

If I had said no, I wouldn't have gotten the sword anyway, So it's better to try atleast. The kid got me good, I mean he would've, if I didn't have a plan

"Zetsar!"

Pfft! I wasn't this hopeless as a teenager. This guy went ahead to study all the voice commands in the game. I mean I also did that…But I was atleast nineteen before I did

In the game lore, "zetsar" is what the villagers said to initiate a friendly battle, it was like a swear to not kill the opponent.

The developers made it a voice command used to initiate a battle amongst real players as to not affect the npc's, their surroundings or any real players around them.

"Kid we don't need a grand battle, just choose the sour water forest or garden edenzia, nothing big so we can get this thing over wiiiii-"

My mouth dropped as we landed In a giant ancient colosseum with millions of people cheering upon our arrival

"Tsk, I researched you because I wanted to know who I was dealing with. You are a popular streamer, You weren't lying when you said you had 99 percent of every collectible in the game, Still, it doesn't matter"

The kid chose the sword of infinite nights as his main weapon, didn't want to take any chances I guess

There goes my plan a of trying to psyche him out of it, but the yet better, plan b was coming into action

"I wanted the entire world to see me take away your long held title as the greatest player in this game"

Before every match, the initiator selects a venue for it to be held and every player in the server gets notified.

This definitely went across servers as there were millions of players in the seats cheering

He was no joke I needed to prepare or else my plan could take a huge div-

What the heck ! His speed stats are insane he went straight for the head, if I didn't block that…

This time, he tried to slash me all the way from where he was, But I didn't feel a…..Smh so that's it huh

"The sword of infinite nights has the ability to slash through enchantments no matter the tier, Thank you so much for showing me what could've been a trump card, so early on"

He cut through my enchantment, this guy ended up being more stressful than I thought

It looks like he is ready to charge again I better stay on guard

*SWOOSH!*

He dashed and slashed me all over my body and the crowd kept cheering

I am more than sure at least 70 percent of my fans are watching this and cheering. This is what you get when your target audience hasn't hit puberty

*SWISH*

This last strike hit my ankle and took me to my knees

"The great soma king, being disgracefully taken out by a kid who started a month ago, Is this how you want your name to be heard for the rest of history"

"Pretty soon…It's going to be the other way around, kid"

"I see you're planning something, well, I better not give you the satisfaction"

He raised the sword into the air, facing the sky and the clouds turned dark and started moving around

Rumbling, roaring claps of thunder

"This is the sword of infinite nights strongest technique"

A pure white hole started to form in between the dark clouds

"A strike of pure mana"

Well I guess it wasn't a good decision to make my character part of the demon race

"This is the end"

I looked up into the sky anticipating the exact moment plan b kicks in…It was too late

I had to stop this and get on with it

He let his hand down and the pure mana started rushing down towards me, I didn't expect the speed to be this great, it could actually take me out

I saw my fame and popularity go out in literally a white flash

As I braced myself for impact plan b finally kicked in

"What? What is…"

"Phew! Plan B is 'what is'"

The kid dropped on his knees looking towards me as I slowly walked towards him

"Tier 5 physical damage immunity and special tier illusion magic"

Everyone started murmuring, made me laugh, a few seconds ago they though i was inevitably gonna lose

I could get it though, special tier was given when the strength or expertise in that discipline could not be measured

Before this, Everyone thought it was only a rumor

"Tier 5 immunity is the highest anyone could get, Basically all those 'injuries' you gave me was all an illusion you weren't doing any damage to me noober"

He was still on the floor even as I held his head

"The sword of infinite nights needs to be activated before you can do it anything with it"

"If not, all abilities you think you're doing with it are nothing but special effects, which you still need to pour an excessive amount of mana into to carry out"

"So I used my illusion magic to make you think like I had an enchantment on me"

"I faked the slashes and allowed you to think you were winning to keep you using it and eventually draining all your mana till you were out…which is why you're on the floor right now"

Besides I didn't want him to use a tool that actually did work and put some effort to actually beat him, This was simply less of a hassle

"You tricked me"

"You should have researched your own weapon, I researched you too and you apparently only started playing AFTER you got the sword. Then you went around stealing loot from other players with the threat that you'll use the sword on them. I guess you really live up to your name, noober"

"Oh and the pure mana strike would've killed me ad that was very real. it simply converted all the mana you were putting in it into pure mana, let's just say every 10 ounces of normal mana formed 1 ounce of pure mana"

He probably didn't have anymore strength to pull any more tools, but I could feel it from the silence, he wanted me dead in real life too.

So I gave him a tiny little flick to the head, knowing how weak he was at the time, he fell to his head and passed out

And like that the crowd was going wild as they saw me not only keep my title, obtain the strongest item in the game but become the first player in the history to have achieved it all

After the match I was logged out of the colosseum back to where I was with noober, although the developers tried to give the game a realistic feature by taking those who had lost a serious amount of HP or mana back to their spawn point

I utilized my teleportation magic and took myself to a cliff

This was my favorite spot in the game

It was truly a sight to behold, a sky view of the most important and beautiful town in the game, Romzi.

I planned on looking at that beautiful view till the game went off before a message popped up on my screen

Immediately I selected it, all the electronics in my room went off

I was about to test a light switch before my monitor came back on

I stepped closer to take a better look at it….Before I knew it, I was being sucked into the game

I held the table and the chair but nothing could stop me from being pulled into a screen….And there is where it all started.
