Each word Charlton spoke, each action he did, shattered Serena's heart into a million pieces. Her vision blurred as tears continuously flowed out of her eyes like a river. Her lips quivered as every cell in her body trembled. Unbelievable. Was everything that's happening really happening? Was she not just in a nightmare and couldn't wake up?

Why? Why did it have to be like this? Charlton was the man she loved the most, the one she trusted, the one who she thought loved her unconditionally. How could he break her heart, hurt her this way, destroy her life and everything between them, like this?

She looked up and despite not seeing his face clearly because of her tears, she could sense by his stance that he did not hold even an ounce of regret for what he did. 

"How… how could you do this to me?" she asked. 

Charlton stared down at her. "Why, you ask me. Why don't you try asking that question to yourself?"
