Emily rushed to get everything done but given the travel time and the list of things she needed to buy; it still took her 4 hours to complete. She hastened returning to the apartment as all they were able to eat earlier during lunch were stale bread and soup which was severely lacking in ingredients. She smiled thinking about how Leonard tried to hand her money for their expenses. It felt like a husband handing his earnings to his wife. She shook her head with how silly her thoughts have become. 

Arriving at the front door of the apartment, she took out her copy of the key. She opened the door and since the lights were turned off, she switched them on. The house was quiet. Was Serena asleep? In any case, after everything that happened to her this day, she must be tired.
