New Ability

Plop... Plop

Trevor jumped up but couldn't see. His head moved side to side trying to find light but couldn't see any.

"Alice?"

Trevor stood stock still for a bit, before continuing on. Trevor started to move around in the darkness.

Another plop sounded, but he couldn't figure out the direction.

Trevor suddenly realised something after a moment of thought. He laid his hand flat on the ground, but, it wasn't ground.

Trevor's hand could feel the resistance but knew that it was a liquid.

BOOM

A massive flame shot out from somewhere illuminating the place. Trevor couldn't see the source of the light even though he could see the light itself. It was like it was there, but not.

Trevor looked down at his skin and hair to see it slightly glowing a soft white. But it was like he was transparent, different from the previous him.

Trevor wandered around a bit more. Suddenly, the fire grew in intensity. The previous red flame became a bright orange.

Trevor was somewhat surprised to see his skin to turn more white, white like milk.

Trevor could now make out some soft silhouettes in the distance. Trevor started running towards it.

He reached the first one to find a wandering man. He looked like a guard of some kind. However, he was fully transparent, only the edges of him having the slightest tinge of white. He had nothing but the clothes on his back, similar to Trevor.

"Yo, who are you."

Trevor walked to the front of him to see a ghastly pale face, though only in expression. He cheeks bended inwards and one could imagine the darkness under his eyes.

Trevor squinted and observed before kicking him. The ghost made no movement after it fell.

Trevor took a quick scan around his surroundings before walking backwards facing the ghost.

He walked until he could barely see the white before once more turning.

Trevor walked for hours, seeing only two more ghosts.

BOOM

Trevor looked up to be unable to open his eyes. The flame turned into an amber yellow.

Trevor looked down to see his skin turn a brighter white, white like snow.

Trevor walked once more to see no one.

Several hours later, he saw another man. The man's outline had become more white, but his features and clothes became more transparent.

BOOM

Trevor's eyes hurt as the colour changed to a bluish white. Suddenly, the man burst into flames in front of him. The man burnt to a crisp leaving ashes the were a pure white, which eventually dissolved into the water. It was like he never existed.

Trevor walked more. He started to feel drowsy and fell to the floor. All he could see was blue. It was flickering blue. Trevor closed his eyes and fell into another conscious.

His body remained. On fire. Soon enough, another boom rang out. A blue and red colour came from the flame. In turn, Trevor's body started to change as the flame turned blue-red, starting to shake. Soon a green flame came, then yellow, purple, orange, then a white and black.

Trevor's body started to disappears into ashes, his body covered in flames, eight in colour. His body however didn't give up, continuously regenerating whilst the chaos from the sword heart prevented the flames from entering too deep.

Finally, a golden light came. Almost immediately, Trevor's body was reduced to ashes. Not long after, it was gone once more.

---

Plop... Plop...

Trevor saw a blue-red flame.

---

Plop... Plop...

Trevor saw a blue-red-green flame.

It was like the blue, red and green flame were trying to merge into one another, mixing and swirling into the other, but are unable to, like trying to combine oil and water.

---

Trevor couldn't remember anything before except for the unimaginable moment before disintegration.

Plop... Plop...

Trevor saw many colours, all merged and dancing about. A yellow and one so much nicer. But the niceness couldn't hide the pain.

---

Plop... Plop...

Trevor stood entangled in flames of all colour imaginable. The mixed and separated before changing again. The white skin started to regain colour.

Trevor's eyes were lit alight by the flames. Trevor felt inconceivable pain, then great clarity.

Trevor's hands were set alight. The pain was followed by a feeling of great strength.

Places which he couldn't see were set alight. He doesn't know well, but he sure knows that he had become an oven on the inside. Except the coals were like suns.

The pain and pleasure came hand-in-hand.

---

Trevor's eye widened. He slowly got up from his bed.

[Oh. You survived. Well done]

Trevor felt perplexed, as if he had forgotten something very important.

"Survived what Alice?"

[Nothing overly important. I just thought that perhaps something might not come back]

He looked confused, staring at nothing, imagining this woman.

Trevor opened the page to see an additional bar below the main blue screen. It was a dark crimson red.

[A peak mortal being has descended. Heroes of the world, destroy it for a great reward!]

[Time Elapsed: 12:31:547]

[Time Elapsed: 12:32:938]

How cool. This peak mortal being must be quite strong to have a message from the system.

"Hey Alice, how come the original system can interfere with you?"

The previous system wanted to harvest and control him. He did not want any of that.

[Its fine and safe. No need to worry]

Trevor finally felt safe.

[By the way, you gained a new skill. You are able to sacrifice soul clones to be able to be given a chance for resurrection if you die. However, you most pass the nine great cleansing's to survive. and be reborn. If you do, you will get an impressive boost in soul strength]

Trevor's eyes widened at this concept. I can be reborn if I die. Like, how can I not be the protagonist at this point. Realistically, if the other protagonists were in a book with me, they would just be some lousy extras.

"Hah. How cool. I just need to make sure I survive."

[Not so easy. Each time you die, the cleansing will become a minimum of a thousand times harder, more so considering the cultivation. The main thing you need is willpower to survive]

Trevor grimaced slightly.

Trevor remembered that now that he was in the Qi Condensation realm, he could make more slaves, no no, clones.

Happy, Trevor teleported to the cultivation room. He walked in only to find the six clones crying a bit. They all looked at Trevor and moved away from him to the other side of the massive room.

Trevor sat down and started making more clones.

The six other clones were mad. Two of them spent a lot of energy making an additional clone each whilst the other four worked hard to create three. Now where did they go? They went to go die so that their precious master could live! They wasted so much effort.

The six of them looked at Trevor's peaceful form. They were all determined to work hard to become stronger so that Trevor wouldn't die. Or else they would have to do more work selling clones to resurrect him. The cost to pay is far higher than good work now.

Although the clones are fundamentally different from Trevor, they are still very similar so far.
