53 Kanou's Lab (2)

Dr. Akihiro Kanou stared at Lin Yi with a blank expression.

"I didn't expect you to be here based on my original plan."

"But I'm glad you came."

Dr. Kanou was surprised by Lin Yi's strong attachment to the two young girls. It made him realize their significance.

At first, he didn't pay much attention to the matter, but Lin Yi's appearance in the 6th Ward forced him to take it seriously.

Lin Yi had always been a thorn in his side.

Dr. Kanou couldn't allow someone who knew all his secrets to live in this world. If he wasn't afraid of Lin Yi's power, he would have dealt with him long ago.

Now that Lin Yi had willingly come, Dr. Kanou believed he wouldn't miss the opportunity.

"Release my parents immediately!"

Kurona gathered her courage and shouted at Dr. Kanou.

"Do you miss your parents? Well, here's your chance. It won't hurt to let you see them." Akihiro Kanou raised his hand and clapped twice. The capsules surrounding them started vibrating, and their doors opened one by one, revealing humans submerged in a pale green liquid behind transparent glass.

"Father!" "Mother!"

Kurona and Nashiro's expressions suddenly changed as they saw their parents lying in two of the capsules.

But their excitement quickly turned to shock as they noticed the state of their parents. Their eyes were closed, and they seemed completely unaware of their calls, still in a deep sleep.

The two sisters shouted desperately.

"Since you miss your parents so much, I'll reunite you with them." Dr. Kanou had initially planned to turn the twins into powerful one-eyed ghouls like Kaneki for his experiments.

However, with Lin Yi's arrival, he changed his mind. Why settle for less when there was better material available?

"Kill them."

Dr. Kanou ordered softly, and the two people in the capsules instantly opened their eyes. Their crimson red eyes were striking, and a network of red blood veins spread from their eye sockets. With a loud bang, the glass shattered.

"This is impossible..."

Kurona murmured.

The newly awakened individuals lacked any signs of life in their eyes. Their movements were mechanical and numb. However, as soon as their gaze locked onto the two sisters, they rushed forward with incredible speed, comparable to a B-rated ghoul.

"Boom!"

The two sisters, caught off guard, forgot the lessons Lin Yi had taught them.

Just in time, Lin Yi grabbed their collars and leaped backward, narrowly avoiding the attack. The ground where they had stood was blasted into a deep pit.

"Hahaha, marvelous! Absolutely marvelous!"

Dr. Kanou laughed loudly and praised, "How is this possible? You're just a human. I've investigated you; this shouldn't be possible. Your speed is incredible. You're amazing. I should have chosen you from the beginning. You're the perfect specimen."

Lin Yi couldn't find the right words to comfort the two sisters. All he knew was that he was a step too late.

He glanced up at Dr. Kanou on the elevated platform and tapped his head. Even though he had already anticipated this scene, it still affected him.

"You truly infuriate me."

Lin Yi released the two sisters and activated his suitcase, transforming it into a gleaming long sword.

Just as Lin Yi was about to strike, Kurona and Nashiro held his wrist.

"Senior, let us handle this."

Lin Yi looked at them.

The two sisters wiped away the tears from their eyes and loaded Kurona's pistol with Quinque bullets.

"I can feel our parents' suffering. I want to set them free."

"Very well, I'll leave it to both of you."

Lin Yi responded. It wasn't the time for lengthy discussions.

Perhaps during their time managing the 20th Ward in Lin Yi's absence, the sisters had grown significantly.

"So, you're planning to act now. I had intended to enjoy the appetizers first, but since it's come to this, let me show you my creations—a feast specially prepared for you."

Sensing Lin Yi's killing intent, Dr. Kanou remained composed. He exuded confidence, as if victory was already assured.

This confidence stemmed from his unwavering faith in his "scientific" achievements.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Glass shattered as all the capsules burst open. The green liquid spilled out, and pairs of crimson eyes opened simultaneously, shining like stars in the night.

Apart from Kurona and Nashiro's parents, the other artificial Ghoul looked identical, boasting muscular bodies and robust figures.

In an instant, dozens, even hundreds of figures charged towards Lin Yi.



"Hahaha, this is my science. I can have as many powerful soldiers like this as I want."

Dr. Kanou laughed triumphantly and angrily, gripping the railing of the elevated platform, trying to get a better view of Lin Yi's struggling and futile efforts.

He hadn't forgotten how Lin Yi had threatened and mocked him during his visit to Kanou Hospital.

"Phew."

Lin Yi exhaled, slightly bending his body, and swiftly launched into action. The Quinque in his hand moved with unmatched agility.

His movements were swift, each strike taking a life with precision.

These cloned warriors, the artificial ghouls, were already capable of using Kagune and possessed great strength, comparable to A-rated ghouls. However, they all had the same Rank S Kagune, a single attack pattern, and relatively rigid movements.

Dealing with such foes didn't require Lin Yi to exert much effort.

As long as he killed swiftly and avoided getting surrounded, whether it was one or hundreds, it made no difference at all.

Dr. Kanou, leaning against the railing, gradually lost his smile. Shaking his head involuntarily, he muttered to himself.

"It's impossible. This can't be happening."

He believed he had obtained the most potent force in the world through "science." He thought his army of artificial ghouls was second only to the CCG, and that given enough time, no one could match him.

But now, Lin Yi was tearing apart the perfect castle he had constructed in his mind.

Not a single brick remained.

His proud artificial ghouls fell like harvested wheat in autumn, their blood forming a small stream that flowed gently. The bodies piled up, reaching half a meter in height.

"I refuse to accept it! My science is invincible."

"What I have created is the epitome of perfection in this world. I am the creator. I am God. Anyone who opposes me shall perish!"

Dr. Kanou roared in anger, but it couldn't alter the outcome.
