The Contract~

The color drained from Julia's face. She just knew it was a set-up for her! How could this bully of a guy turn over a new leaf and become unreachable?! He was probably just too good at hiding his tracks!

A while ago, when the man had entered the hall, she had been enamored by his handsome figure.

She raised her eyes and glanced at his handsome figure and she was immediately reminded of the previous face-to-face encounter!

Damn it! She still couldn't forget that fateful, naked encounter!

Since he was naked, she couldn't see or feel his changes at all. Now that she looked at him carefully, this person seemed to have changed from how he used to be during their high school days.

For instance, his aura had changed entirely from what she remembered.

He used to have a relaxed and playful atmosphere around him during their high school days, but now….

Julia realized that she was still staring into his eyes. Her heart jumped in her chest. She lowered her head as she dared not raise her head anymore.

How come his entire aura turned cold and dark? Just what happened to him that made him like this?

She must be a fool to have been attracted to him. She cursed under her breath as her lips parted: "Rose. Let's go."

The little assistant behind her woke up from a daze. Just now, she felt like her boss and the CEO had a spark between them that changed from attraction to anger. She blinked and averted her eyes.

Murmurs were heard in the background.

"It seems the rumor is true. Julia was indeed the Alpha's ex-girlfriend!"

"I can't believe she hid such a past from us! That's Victor Bush! The person who had achieved so much at twenty six!"

"I envy Julia. She had a chance to kiss Victor! Does she even know what she missed?!"

Another person scoffed. "The devil must have possessed her to break up with him."

"I say, don't you think something is wrong here? Victor's eyes were colder just now when he looked at her! It must be that she had initiated the break-up in the past!"

"That's entirely possible! After all, who in their right mind would separate someone who achieved gold medals in the Olympics? Someone who topped all fields in his university days?

"Most importantly, he's also the Alpha of our Emerald Pack, and he just came of age!" The girl grinned she remembered the coming of age for werewolves was twenty-six when their wolves would evolve and be able to recognize their mates. "Almost all the ladies are waiting for this to find out who his mate is!"

"I wish it could be me!" Another girl had a dreamy expression as she stared at him unblinkingly.

"It must be Julia's fault that they separated. I say she must have cheated on him and ran away. Now he has come to retaliate." The girl made a 'humph' sound. "She deserves it."

Julia could hear these rumors flying in the air behind her back. She didn't even spare her fellow singers a glance as she walked toward the man she hated as glanced at his face. His height had also shot up as compared to before. She had to raise her head to look into his eyes.

"Let's go." Her voice was cold and aggressive.

A cold spark flew between them as if they were enemies and had met after a long time. Rose, her assistant, trembled as she held her boss's hands firmly. "Boss, what're you standing for? We have a long day ahead."

She just wanted to get out of here!

Julia and Victor walked out with their assistants towing behind them. They strolled side by side without glancing at one another, but they refused to look at the other person. The assistants behind them could feel coldness seeping from their auras. They shivered, but they continued to walk in the corridor without stopping.

Soon enough, they reached the main office of the CEO. Victor pushed open the door and entered. Without even glancing back, he directly went toward the main table in the office.

Julia's lips twitched when she saw the dull office, devoid of colors. This guy would never change. He still liked boring black-and-white things all over the place!

Victor turned around with the paper in his hand. "I have a reason to invite you indirectly like this."

Julia pursed her lips as she shifted uncomfortably. She said nothing and just glanced at the paper in the man's hand and waited for him to say.

"Read this," he ordered and pushed the documents in her hands without waiting for her reply.

She opened the file and started reading it in her mind. After a few seconds of reading, her eyes widened as a hint of anger appeared on her face. She closed the file and snapped, "What the f**k is this?!"

Victor was calm as if he had expected the girl to react this way. "As you can see. It's a marriage agreement."

"What gives you the confidence that I'll agree?! You swine! Don't you already know how much I hate you?"

The assistants were so shocked that they froze at that place.

Victor just smiled as coldness leaked out of his aura. This cold smile was enough to tremble the assistants behind Julia. They just wanted to disappear from this place!

After a while, the man opened his mouth and responded, "Don't you need money?"

Julia stiffened. He attacked right at that point. She indeed needed money. Her mom died when she was a child, and her father died not too long ago because of sickness. The most irritating thing was that he had been gambling online ever since he had gotten bedridden that put a pile of debt on Julia's head.

She used almost all her money to pay the debt, and only a hundred bucks remained in her account. She even had to take a loan from her assistant! The dress she wore today was just an attempt to cover up that she had become poor.

Julia indeed needed money, but did it mean she would sign an arranged marriage agreement just like that?! He must be dreaming!

Victor's eyes squinted as he suggested, "Do read the entire agreement before concluding. I have no intention of playing with you."

It seemed as if he had just read her thoughts.

Julia fumed, "I don't want to. All you had done in the past was bully me! How do you expect me to trust you all of a sudden?!"

Victor smiled again. This smile was even colder than before. "Really? Do you think you're so important that I'll waste my precious time on you?"

Julia was stunned. She looked up at his face and gripped the file in her hand, and lowered her head. She took deep breaths to calm herself.
