CHAPTER 66

A loud gasp escaped from Zary’s lips as she woke up and bolted upright from her nightmare.

Her entire body was sweating, and her clothes were wet that it stuck to her skin. She was feeling hot. It was as if she had a fever but there were no headaches and no weakness in her limbs.

“You’re finally awake, Zary.” A familiar voice echoed out from somewhere beside her. It belonged to none other but Aron. The childhood friend that she had come to trust. Perhaps too quickly in her opinion. “We’re almost there, so hang on a little more.” He added softly and she belatedly realized that they were in a moving car.

Looking out the window, she noticed that the car was heading towards a secluded area as she could not see any houses by the roadside.

“Aron… what is the meaning of this? Why are you doing this?” she asked, confused at the way events were unfolding. Her heart was breaking due to an indescribable disappointment and anger. She could not believe what was going on right now.
