24 On the wrong occasions

"Grandpa, why don't you understand? Nikolas deserved that," Chris whined in front of Arthur. "You cannot seize my cards for my confrontation with that bastard," he argued.

Arthur glared at Chris and told him not to make excuses. "Do you even know how the news of your arrest was prevented from spreading? How could you speak in front of me when you were the one at fault?" He questioned and told him this time he would not listen to Chris.

"I won't do this ever, Grandpa, I promise," Chris said and sat in front of him on the upholstered chair. He began convincing Arthur, but he paid no heed to him.

"Dad, don't forgive Chris this time," a familiar voice landed in their ears and it angered Chris. What was his father even doing there? "It all has happened because you've given him way too much freedom and money," Brian affirmed.

"Why are you here?" Arthur questioned him.

"To reprimand Chris. He hung up on me," Brian answered and stood next to the upholstered chair on which Arthur was seated. "Because of him, I've had to hear things from Nikolas's father. What if they had withdrawn from an important project we just started with them? Do you even have any idea how many millions we would have lost?" Brian's voice kept increasing at Chris, who ignored all of his father's words.

"I can't believe a cheater has come to protect another cheater," Chris remarked, making both his father and grandfather raise eyes at him.

"Now, leave, Dad before I have to bring out more dark truths about you," he muttered.

Arthur told Chris not to talk that way with his father.

"Why shouldn't I?" Chris snickered and continued, "Dad came to lecture me and encourage you to keep my cards seized. He never rushed here when I used to get sick, or when my mother's anniversary would come. I don't expect a person like him to lecture me," he pronounced, his tone was enough to show the disgusting feeling he had toward his own father.

"You forgot the other days, Chris. I have always been on time on some of the precious days," Brian stated, his voice was a bit calm now.

"Really, Dad? I don't care about the other occasions. You have always been here on the wrong occasions when I didn't want to see you," Chris stated with hatred in his voice. He angrily stood up from the chair and asked for the last time from his grandfather if he would retrieve his cards or not.

"I will keep the decision on your wife. Let's see each other in the evening," Arthur asserted.

"Why her, Grandpa? Did Suzy ask you to do this?" Chris questioned.

"No, she didn't. However, Suzy helped the charges get dropped from you. So, I must ask her opinion on this because she's a part of this family now and also your wife," Arthur explained.

Chris frowned to listen to his father and left his grandfather's home. "Suzy is never going to agree on retrieving my cards. Why did it all turn against me when I tried to be a good person?" he murmured before entering his sports car.

He took out his phone and called Suzy, thinking he should ask about her whereabouts. However, she didn't answer his call. "Did she get into a meeting?" he mumbled. He put away the phone before starting the car's engine and driving back to the penthouse.

An hour later, upon reaching home, he found Suzy there. She was conversing with Lionel about Arthur's choice of food and it appeared to Chris that she arrived only a few minutes earlier than her.

"Young Master Chris!" Lionel greeted him as his gaze fell upon him.

Suzy turned to look in his direction and faintly smiled.

"Come to the room," Chris said and went upstairs.

Suzy excused himself from Lionel and went upstairs to their bedroom.

"What happened?" Suzy asked as she crossed her arms across her chest and saw Chris leaning against the end table.

"My all cards are blocked. Grandpa won't retrieve them unless you ask him to. So, after dinner, tell him not to keep my cards blocked," Chris shared the concerning matter with her.

Suzy smiled in amusement. "Why would I do that? I wanted your cards to remain blocked. I'm happy Grandpa already did that," she said.

"Are you serious?" Chris arched his eyebrows at her.

"Oh, I am," Suzy dropped her hands to her side. "It is the most deserving punishment you have ever gotten, I believe," she stated with a smile.

Chris gritted his teeth and let out a wry laugh. Turning around, he slammed his against the table. "Why did I even believe you'd listen to me?" he muttered.

"I cannot let such an opportunity slide out of my hands," Suzy said as she approached him. Chris turned around to face her and asked her what she wanted. Was it money again?

"I want a lot of things from you, Chris. First, you need to apologize to all those women whom you've toyed with until now, especially Daniel's sister. Second, you'll leave going to the club and doing hookups. You are married and it's not allowed in the marriage. Third, you'll attend the university regularly. These are my major conditions," Suzy pronounced with a victorious smile.

"I won't apologize to anyone. Also, I don't know who Daniel's sister is!" Chris affirmed.

Suzy slid her hand inside her pocket and took out her phone. She looked for Freya's picture and showed it to Chris. "I can't believe you met so many women that you even forgot the faces after breaking their hearts," she remarked and saw a strange expression forming on Chris' face.

"Ahh, I recalled her now. I never broke her heart, so I won't apologize to her. She knew what kind of man I was. Also, she did something which was unforgivable," Chris pronounced.

"I know her. Freya is a very gentle girl," Suzy prevented Chris from saying anything wrong about her and lowered her hand.

Chris snickered at her. "She is a dangerous girl. I have been with her, so I know what type of girl she is!" he stated.
