Facade

"Are you okay Allison? You look tired." Calvin asked the exhausted looking Allison. She was just coming from... Well, she didn't tell him but he guessed it should either be her sister's hospital or the bar. She has never gone anywhere else. He wonders what her normal life looks like. Doesn't she have more friends, what about her other family members? He hasn't heard anything about them. He felt like asking her but he knew he was in no position to do so.

He has been acting nice and considerate in the past few days hoping she would come around but she only seemed to be more distant than she ever was. Why does the only girl he has ever took interest in push him away? Fate indeed has a funny way of doing things. Every girl he has come across would do anything even if it was just to spend a night with him and that was all he ever does with them.

But this girl, she is different, he had gotten attracted to her the first day he saw her and he thought that after a round or two, his fascination for her would go away, but man was he wrong. she has managed to make him want her but she ended up pushing him away. It was a first for him and he wasn't sure how to handle it but he knew he that he wasn't doing great. He thinks about her during the day, dream about her at night, lost focus at work, he even spent up to an hour in a board meeting that was held that day without hearing anything. She came into his life not long ago and now she has managed to turn his life upside down.

"I'm fine, just a little exhausted." Allison said with her brows slightly furrowed together still not used to this sudden and drastic change in Calvin. She felt that he needed something from her and was only putting on a facade and she was bent on finding out what it was. Maybe he needed her to act like his girlfriend or something in the presence of his family and was afraid he can't force her to do it. She has tried testing the limit to which he could no longer put on his facade, that's why she purposely didn't tell him where she had gone and she even returned fashionably late. Maybe he would get angry and snap, but unfortunately for her, nothing of such happened, he even seemed to be concerned about her wellbeing instead of scolding her. What if he has a bigger motive? Warning bells rang in her head.

"Okay. Hope your day wasn't too stressful?" He asked, concern obvious in his face.

"Nope. I'm okay " She said in a tone that told him that she would like to be left alone. Why was she so difficult? Where is Leo when he needs him? He never thought he would ever need Leo, he had always done great without help from any member of his family at all times, all times except now! This stubborn lady was driving him insane.

"Have you thought about going with me?" he asked, his gaze pleading.

"Who will take care of my sister?"

"Your friend can." He said.

"Delia has her own life." She retorted.

"Ellie and some other maids I trust will assist her."

"What about me? Do you know if I trust them?" She asked, her gaze scrutinizing him to see his reactions. He was quiet for a while unsure of what to say. She's becoming more and more difficult. Maybe he should just go back to being bossy and ruthless. He smiled and shook his head, he knew he could not again.

"Then you will just have to trust me." He finally said. "Do you trust me?"

"Stop it Calvin." Allison felt bile rise up her chest. She doesn't know what he was up to and she didn't like his pretentious act. Of course, he was pretending, he can't turn into a caring saint overnight.

"Stop what?" Calvin asked in confusion.

"All these facade you are wearing. Just drop it. I don't know what you are up to and... How the hell am I supposed to trust you? What do you even mean by that? I should pretend like nothing ever happened and drop everything I feel towards you and just trust you? Maybe we should even consider being friends." Allison blurted out in anger. It's as if she's feeling the pain of everything that he has done to her and she felt her heart ache so bad that she would faint.

She had spent the whole day at the hospital with her sister, talking to her, whispering words of encouragement to her, doing everything she could hoping to see at least a twitch somewhere but she just lay still and unmoving. Allison felt fear grip her heart. What if she never wakes up? Then everything she endured from this guy would all be for nothing. The doctors had told her that her sister is stable and only needs time and she decided to hope on that. But sometimes she couldn't control the fear that suddenly grips her and the stress it brings along with it. Why was she so scared? Of course she knew the answer. She don't want to loose Kylie like she lost her parents.

Calvin's heart ached at Allison's words, he was really considering asking her to be his friend. He had thought about what he wanted with her and his answers always point to one direction. He fucking wants her in his life. He thought maybe being friends with her should be enough for now but it's going to be more difficult than he thought.

Allison's father had died in a hospital after he had an accident. Her mother whom have been sick for years died of heart attack in a hospital when she couldn't bear the loss of her husband leaving just the two of them alone. Now this. If Kylie should go too, she was certain that she is going to take her own life.

She was greatly terrified of hospitals, going there daily is almost like a trauma for her.

And now this devilish personality won't let her be.

"Hey, I'm not putting on any facade, I don't just want to..." He paused seeing that she was only getting angrier. His presence there wasn't welcome at all and he knew it so he turned to leave but not before saying "Let me know if you need anything." He then left her, maybe he will try again some other time. maybe not.

Allison slumped down into the living room sofa, covered her face with her palm, bent down and cried silently. She was so exhausted.
