I ran out of the building with the excuse of going to lunch, but the truth was that I wanted to avoid Lucas. Unfortunately, my lunch didn't last all day. The peace that I felt while sitting in my favorite ocean view restaurant shattered when I walked into my office and saw him sitting there at his desk. He's very focused on his computer until he looks up and smiles at me.
I don't understand how he can smile as if nothing had happened between the two of us. What part of my hatred has he not understood? Perhaps, it is the same part within my heart that refuses to hate him equally.
