8 I Messed up

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

Two weeks flew by quicker than I could imagine. I get to finally see my uncle.

"Are you excited, Princess? His majesty and the grand commander, Ezra's arrival is today! There will be so many rose petals thrown in the air! there will also be music and food for their victory and safe arrival!"

Finally! I get to wear my new dress! I hope my uncle has brought me something from his travels! Wait… He went to war. Right.

"Nanny Marina, The chancellor, has requested to see the princess in his office at once." said one of the court maids.

"Oh, of course! Let's go, Princess! It was a good decision to get you ready this early in the morning. You look stunning as always, my princess!"

"Indeed! Our princess is an angel!"

"Calling our princess an angel is an insult! She is more of a goddess!"

Jeez, here we go again with the daily flatter shower.

As we walked around the imperial garden to the main emperor's palace, I could see a massive difference in upkeep in terms of palaces and gardens. Near my tower, the flowers planted there are shabby and nearly dry. In other words, I live very far away from the other palaces. Thus, the gardener never went that far to take care of the garden.

The closer we got to the imperial palace, the more color the grass had, the flowers of all kinds were blooming, and the palaces were large, clean, and polished.

From what I remember seeing the imperial layout, there are twelve buildings and gardens. To be more detailed, there are four palaces, one imperial library, three royal gardens, one ballroom, two training headquarters, and one harem. The imperial palace is the biggest and most elegant palace out of the four, and that's where the emperor lives. Then there's the emerald palace, where the empress lives. However, because this crazy man loved the empress so much, she lived with him in the imperial palace. It was said that if they had a daughter, the princess would live in the emerald palace. In other words, I was supposed to live there. However, since that bastard blames me for his wife's death, I was thrown in the shabbiest of buildings on the way back. It does not even have a place on the imperial layout! The worst piece of crap ever! The pearl palace is the third palace. Technically, it has the same status as the emerald palace since only the crown prince can live there. Equal rights, remember? Finally, the fourth palace is the golden palace; here is where other princes and princesses were to live.

I finally arrived at the imperial office for the first time. As Marina carried me through the long, elegant hallway, I looked around. The palace itself was exactly how I envisioned it in my nightmare. But how? I have never been here. How are the portraits, furniture, color of the walls, and floor the exact same?! Looking to my left, I saw a painting of a beautiful, young woman with delicate pale skin and alluring honey-yellow eyes looking ever so gracefully. The frame is twice the size in comparison to the size of other portraits. Who is this gorgeous woman, and why does she look so familiar?

"That familiar face is your mother, princess. She captured his majesty's heart by first glance. She is breathtaking, is she not?"

OH F*CK! What is your problem?! Do you enjoy raising a child's blood pressure?! I felt like I almost died! My poor heart.

He looked at me for a split second and smiled.

"You are your father's daughter. Tsk tsk, so vile with your words. However, I find you to be more pleasant and adorable."

Crap. That's right. This man can read my thoughts.

You are such a handsome and kind, young man, cousin. Are you married yet? Girls must be fighting over you, right? Being so smart and successful must be stressful, huh?

He raised his eyebrow as a sign of confusion.

"I see… you are trying to repent. Close enough. You may leave now, Marina. I will take the princess."

I can see Marina's concerned face look at me and then glazed at the Chancellor. She then hugged me and gave me a kiss before handing me over to the Chancellor.

"Chancellor, may I ask … a question?"

"Speak, Marina."

"...Why do you respond to the princess as if she spoke to you first? I...mean, I do not mean to step out of line, it… it's just..."

"Then do not step out of line, Marina. If you know your place, then do not cross that line. I will oversee your mistake just this once. I do not tolerate such ignorance. Leave at once before the princess becomes nanny-less."

Her eyes grew large and left quickly.

I sternly looked at the Chancellor and shook my head.

She has a point, you know. If you make it that obvious that you can read minds and then respond back to a 3-year-old, it is only reasonable to question you.

He slightly rolled his eyes and took me inside the imperial office.

The office was the size of a basketball gymnasium—beautiful, white wooden walls with gold accent, hand-carved designs on each panel. Oversized windows took over the whole backside of the office that gave it a modern look. Clean, white marble floors. A massive diamond chandelier that sparkled ever so brightly when the sun shined on it. The second floor had an open layout. As I looked some more, the second and third floor looked like a library. It was my heaven. There were a large lounge area and bar in the middle of the first floor, followed by an oversized office desk that was covered with books, files, and stacks of documents.

Does this bastard actually know how to read? Why does he need all these books? Are they just for decoration?

"Your father is actually quite the scholar. I'd say he has read all of these books at least twice."

He placed me gently on the sofa and took a seat on the other chaser lounge aside from me.

"I brought you here today for one reason and one reason only, Princess. My main goal is to get your father to have a change of heart. Your father may be a pain in the ass and ruthless at times. However, he is essential in your life. As much as we need you, Princess - you need him. It is within Ezra's and my power to help you with that."

Precisely in what way may you all benefit from me? I don't get it.

"Do not worry about those trivial matters, princess. Just trust in me. "

I looked around the office a bit more before I responded.

What do I have to do? You said you are going to help me get on the emperor's right side. So, what do I have to do?

"And to think, you're only 3-years-old. I am glad you asked, princess. We are finally on the same page. As you know, I can confidently say you are the first child on earth who can have full conversations and understand at an adult level. That alone means you are indeed special. It is clear to me that your special abilities will be at such an advanced level. Much greater than ours. Perhaps, you are "the chosen one." You may be what all the Godivonian history books mention. For that, you need to do your best to get on the employer's right side by being, well… you, Princess."

Okay, first of all, dude. Back up. I don't know what you mean, but for one, It's not like I can actually speak or understand. You are mind-reading. People will think you are crazy if they catch you speaking and responding to a toddler, you know. Also, I do not know who this "chosen one" is, but would an emperor try to kill 'the chosen one' if that person or whoever existed? I think not. Thirdly, that crazy man tried to kill his own daughter. I don't know what world you live in where that's classified as "an okay thing to do." However, in my world; that is a crime and a death penatlyyyyyyyy…. Oh SH*T. I mean… go go...ga ga?

Damn… I'm screwed.
