This must be what that red-headed lady was talking about. My awakening… at the age of 5-years-old. Wow.

"So… the red-haired lady is... The imperial mage?" I asked nervously.

"I will have a talk with his majesty about this… We will need to get you a mage tutor with his majesty's permission. However, let's leave this talk for another day." Hansol continued to explain.

He patted my hands gently and stood up.

"I will call the maids to fix your bathwater. To ease your mind, his majesty and Ezra are doing just fine. They conquered the kingdom. Please do not worry and rest well, Princess." Hansol winked with a bright expression before exiting the room.

I gently nodded.

That's good news. I hope he writes back once he gets the bracelets I made.

I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.

"Your Majesty, a letter from the chancellor and the princess." Announced the messenger as he entered the office.

Xavier and Ezra both looked at each other briefly.

"Bring it here and escort yourself out." Xavier commanded as he stacked the last document onto a tall pile of papers.

"Do you plan on taking one of the princesses as your concubine? The one with brown eyes is quite an eye-catcher. The other two are far too young, unfortunately." Ezra teased as he relaxed on the lounge chair, drinking wine.

"By all means, enjoy yourself with them. Have all three if you'd like. They have no importance to me." Xavier replied as he detached the candle wax stamp from the letter.

"What.... is this?" Xavier asked in confusion as he lifted the bracelets up with disgust.

Ezra looked up, facing Xavier out of curiosity to his displeasing question.

"Wow! Are those hand-made bracelets?! Is this from the Princess?!" Ezra shouted with glee as he ran up to Xavier.

"Here. You can have them. They are hideous, to say the least." Xavier responded as he tossed the bracelets to Ezra.

Xavier took out the folded piece of paper from the letter. He adjusted his reading glasses for an easier read.

Daddy,

I hope you didn't die during the war. I am sure you are fine. I am worried more about uncle Ezra though. Since he is nicer to me, It is only normal for me to be worried about him more, right? I was told that it is Giodivonian custom for women or girls to embroider the empire's crest into a handkerchief. On the day of their departure, they give it to a loved one who is going off to war as a sign of protection and a safe journey back home. Since you left too soon, I did not have the time or knowledge to embroider one for you and uncle Ezra. Instead, I made you both an embroidered bracelet! The black, green, and gold are for you, daddy. The other one is for uncle Ezra! Marina taught me how to make it! This is my way of showing my love and safe return to both of you. I want you to wear it! Please give the silver one to uncle Ezra! I expect you to wear it when you return!

P.S. write back to me, or I will stop writing.

P.S.S I am just joking. Do not kill my nanny!

-Amara

Xavier closed his eyes as he tilted his head upward.

"Give me that… hideous black one back." Xavier said with embarrassment.

Ezra looked up, raising an eyebrow as he struggled to tie the bracelet on his wrist.

"Why do you want such a "hideous" bracelet? Just give it to me! I will wear both of them with confidence! Are they from the Princess, right? Judging from your reaction, I will have to say yes." Ezra teased as he hung the bracelet over Xavier's head.

Annoyed at Ezra's childish behavior, Xavier quickly stood up, displaying an irritated facial expression.

"Shut up and put it on me. Hurry up about it." Xavier mumbled as he looked away, extending his arm in front of Ezra.
