Chapter 19 - Payback time (I)

Chapter 19 - Payback time (I)

When Maxmillan got to a spot, he asked with a curious look in his face, "Transmigrator Survival System, can I purchase weapons? Is it possible? Or I can only get items through the rewarding system?"

<<I thought you will never ask. You can purchase items, once you have enough purchase points that can be gotten the from completion of missions.>>

<<So, with these points, you can purchase different items in the Item Market or Purchase Store>> The Transmigrator Survival System said.

"Alright." Maxmillan said with a comprehending nod of his head.

"So, how do I go there?" He asked further.

<<Simply mention 'Menu'. Then scroll down to the directory named Item Market or Purchase Store. It's there you will find Armory, Weaponry, Equipment and many other things. I believe you will know what else to do once you get there.>> The Transmigrator Survival System mentioned, while Maxmillan nodded his head in full understanding.

"Menu" Maxmillan said.

Maxmillan saw the various directories that were presented to him in his vision and opted to ask the Transmigrator Survival System about each of them later.

But he quite understood their functions from their names, which caused him to be excessively elated, as he could imagine his bright domineering future when all the directories were unlocked and he could access them as he pleased.

"I will be unstoppable. I will become a peerless and indefatigable, otherworldly summoner of inexhaustibly-large amounts of weapons and gadgets!" Maxmillan said with endless cheer and delight in his tone as he imagined what he would become in this world when the entire system directories were fully opened for his unrestricted usage.

After scrolling down to the [Item Market/Purchase Store] Directory, he neurally clicked on it.

"What. The. Hell!!" Maxmillan screamed in great excitement, such that he could almost drown in the seething ocean of joy and delight that erupted from within his heart to seemingly no end.

He simply couldn't believe his eyes!

It was like the things he read from the large holographic screen floating in his vision, were nothing but illusions. However, this was reality in front of him, and he wasn't dreaming. So he forced himself to believe.

A few minutes later, after trying hard to suppress his excessively bubbling excitement, he neurally clicked on [Equipment]

"Let me return and check the useful miscellaneous item directory. I should possibly find what I am looking for in there' Maxmillan said as he contemplated within himself.

After reading through the long list, a totally marveled Maxmillan tried to dispel the urge of checking the mask-related items one after the other to know their features before neurally clicking on [Rubber Mask], since they would be enormously costly to purchase with the little points he speculated to have obtained so far from the fulfillments of less significant missions.

Once these strings of messages appeared in Maxmillan's vision, Maxmillan immediately said, "Yes!"

Space suddenly warped and distorted around his face. Then when the distortion stopped a second later, a black rubber mask could be seen on Maxmillan's face.

"It's time." Maxmillan said with gleaming icy-cold eyes.

Actually, if one could see through the rubber mask, one would see that Maxmillan's previous amazement and marvel at the items that he saw in the [Item Market/Purchase Store] Directory, had totally vanished to be replaced by a frigid and maniacal, vengeance-thirsty expression.

Also, a vicious brutal light that would cause people that looked at his eyes to burn within their minds in boundlessly towering fear and terror, began to emit unceasingly from his eyes, making him seem like a living embodiment of inextinguishable wrathful vengeance.

Maxmillan actually purchased the mask because he didn't want any of the thugs to identify him, which he would however want and prove to them that they were nothing before pinnacle human technology.

But he had to take his parent and siblings' safety into consideration. He didn't want to go about doing things out of raging vengefulness and not consider the lives of his family members, which are all the things that he had in this world. Or if he lost them due to his killing spree frenzy, he would only have himself to blame for not executing such wide-reaching things from a strategical vantage point.

Also, he could have worn a mask to the garage where he brutally dealt with the carriage drivers, but he saw no point as they were low-level to average-level Astra Mystralis casters who could be regarded by him as common casters and have absolutely nothing to fear in them, since they would severely lack battle-based spellcasting skills and have really poor reaction time to attacks from really swift opponents.

Also, their minds could be manipulated, just like the way he quickly overpowered them and shot one of them down that wanted to report to the Law Enforcement Authorities. So, they would do as he asked out of fear for their lives, since Maxmillan showed how wicked he could be if they refused to do as he instructed.

So, the difference between the carriage drivers and thugs was that, the drivers were common casters and just wanted a good living that was devoid of chaos and mayhem. While the thugs could operate in unrestrained manner in the society, without much fear for the Law Enforcement Bodies or Institutions due to possibly someone of greater political or connection power who was also into thuggery, backing them up and imbuing them with much courage to do as they liked in the society.

Therefore, if such people got a hold of his appearance and traced it to his parent home to slaughter them out of reprisal for the losses that he caused them to accrue in their operations, he would only have himself to blame. So, he wanted to do things carefully and strategically from hereon.

"I was killed by you guys the last time. If not for the Transmigrator Survival System that saved me, I would be long dead and my family house turned into a cheerless, sombre place. I will make sure to eradicate all of you evils for your wickedness towards me." Maxmillan said with unyielding resolve and unwavering determination in his voice.

But what he didn't know was that it wasn't the thugs that attacked him to kill him, it was a really dark clandestine faction that lived underground and were patiently waiting for the right time to emerge and wreak continent-wide mayhem and city-desolating chaos which will absolutely engulf every town and village and evoke their complete ruinations.
