22 A Deadly Dance of Shadows

Feng Ruoxi sat in her room, her mind replaying every detail she had meticulously memorized. As the former spy Bai Yunshu, she understood the gravity of the situation and the ruthlessness of the people she was up against. She knew they would not hesitate to take out their frustrations on Xia Xingxing's family, and she was determined not to let that happen.

Clad in black jeans, a fitted t-shirt, and her trusty sneakers, Feng Ruoxi was ready to put her skills to the test. She had long since forgone the delicate, demure image she was expected to portray, and now embraced the fierce determination that burned within her.

After ensuring the guards were not lurking nearby, Feng Ruoxi silently slipped out of the window, her lithe form effortlessly scaling the fence. In less than two minutes, she was out of the villa and hailing a cab to the hotel.

As the cab weaved through the bustling city streets, Feng Ruoxi's mind raced, anticipating every possible scenario. She knew the casino would be heavily guarded, but her years of training as a spy had prepared her for this moment.

Arriving at the hotel, Feng Ruoxi wasted no time in making her way to the basement casino. Avoiding the security cameras with the grace of a dancer, she approached the guarded entrance, her eyes quickly assessing the situation.

With a deep breath, Feng Ruoxi sprang into action, her movements a blur as she disarmed the first guard with a swift kick to the solar plexus. The second guard barely had time to react before Feng Ruoxi had him pinned to the wall, her forearm pressed against his throat.

"Where is the boss's office?" she demanded, her voice low and dangerous.

The guard, eyes wide with fear, stammered out the directions, and Feng Ruoxi released him with a shove. Retrieving the guards' firearms, she continued her stealthy descent, her senses on high alert.

Reaching the ornate doors to the boss's inner sanctum, Feng Ruoxi took a moment to steady her breathing. This was it – the moment of truth. With a resolute expression, she pushed open the doors, catching the occupants off guard.

The boss, a middle-aged man with a sharp gaze, looked up in surprise, his bodyguards immediately drawing their weapons and aiming them at the unexpected intruder.

"Who the hell are you, and how did you get in here?" the boss demanded, his voice laced with a hint of trepidation.

Feng Ruoxi leveled her stolen pistol at the boss, her expression unwavering. "I'm here to put an end to your terrorizing of Xia Xingxing's family. They've paid you in full, yet you continue to harass them. That ends today."

The boss's eyes narrowed, and a sardonic smile played on his lips. "Ah, I see. A little girl playing the hero, are we? Do you have any idea who you're dealing with?"

"I know exactly who I'm dealing with," Feng Ruoxi replied, her tone deceptively calm. "A greedy, manipulative man who preys on the weak. Well, your reign of terror stops here."

The boss let out a harsh laugh. "You're a foolish one, aren't you? Do you really think you can waltz in here and threaten me? My men will put a bullet between your eyes before you can even blink."

Feng Ruoxi's grip on the gun tightened, her eyes never leaving the boss's face. "Try me."

The tension in the room was palpable as the bodyguards kept their weapons trained on Feng Ruoxi. The boss studied her for a moment, his brow furrowed in contemplation.

"You know, you remind me of someone," he mused, his gaze piercing. "But no matter. I don't take kindly to intruders, especially not one who dares to interfere with my business."

He raised his hand, signaling his men to open fire. "Kill her."

The bodyguards unleashed a hail of bullets, but Feng Ruoxi was already in motion, her years of training as a spy kicking in. She ducked and weaved, her movements a blur as she avoided the barrage of gunfire. With lightning-fast reflexes, she returned fire, taking down two of the bodyguards with precision shots.

The boss watched in stunned silence, his eyes widening at the young woman's unexpected skill. "Impossible! Who the hell are you?"

Feng Ruoxi didn't answer, instead focusing on the remaining bodyguards. She had the element of surprise on her side, but she knew it wouldn't last long. She needed to end this confrontation quickly.

Seizing a momentary lull in the gunfire, Feng Ruoxi advanced, her weapon trained on the boss. "This is your last chance. Leave the Xia family alone, or I'll make sure you never terrorize anyone else again."

The boss's face contorted with rage. "You insolent little bitch! Do you have any idea who I am? I won't be threatened by some upstart brat!"

He reached for his own gun, but Feng Ruoxi was faster. She fired a single shot, hitting the boss's hand and causing him to drop the weapon with a pained cry.

"I'm done playing games," Feng Ruoxi said, her voice laced with a deadly calm. "This is your final warning."

The boss cradled his wounded hand, glaring at Feng Ruoxi with undisguised hatred. "You'll pay for this, you hear me? You have no idea who you're messing with. My family has influence that reaches the highest levels of government. You'll be lucky if you can crawl out of here alive."

Feng Ruoxi narrowed her eyes, unfazed by the boss's threats. "I'm not afraid of you or your family. I've faced worse enemies than you, and I've always come out on top."

The boss let out a bitter laugh. "We'll see about that, you little bitch. My men will hunt you down, and when they find you, they'll make you wish you'd never been born."

Feng Ruoxi kept her weapon trained on the boss, her expression unwavering. "I doubt that. Now, are you going to leave Xia family alone, or do I need to make sure you can't terrorize anyone else ever again?"

The boss's face contorted with rage, but he knew he was in a precarious position. With his bodyguards either dead or incapacitated, and his own hand wounded, he had no choice but to concede.

"Fine," he spat, his voice dripping with venom. "I'll leave the Xia family alone. But mark my words, you'll regret this day for the rest of your life."

Feng Ruoxi nodded, her grip on the gun never wavering. "I'll be watching you. If I so much as hear a whisper of you going near the Xia family again, I'll be back, and I won't be so lenient."

Suddenly, the door burst open, and more armed guards rushed in, their weapons trained on Feng Ruoxi. She cursed under her breath, realizing the boss had summoned reinforcements.

Outnumbered and outgunned, Feng Ruoxi knew she couldn't afford to hold back. She opened fire, her expert marksmanship taking down guard after guard, but she knew she couldn't keep this up forever.

As the battle raged on, Feng Ruoxi's mind raced, searching for a way out. She couldn't afford to be captured, not when Xia Xingxing's family was depending on her. With a surge of determination, she fought her way through the hail of bullets, her movements a deadly dance of shadows.
