22 One bud on the blooming iron tree

For the tenth time in his day, Jun Muyang had checked his phone without intending to. And each time he did not get to see what he wanted, he threw it away and cursed.

Wenzhe was trying so hard to ignore his curiosity but the desire for gossip was slowly winning over the sensibility to keep his mouth shut.

"Is there a problem young master? Are you expecting a call from anyone?"

Immediately after asking, he wanted to sew his mouth shut because Jun Muyang was glaring at him so fiercely.

"Why hasn't she called?"

"Huh." A confused Wenzhe replied.

"Why hasn't Chi Lian called me yet?"

"Are you referring to your neighbor?"

"Yes." he responded through clenched teeth. "She said she could get my personal number on her own and then call me. So why hasn't she called?"

"Umm-maybe she is busy." Wenzhe replied in a squeaky voice.

Jun Muyang smirked, "Ha!_, how could she be busier than me? I run a multi billion enterprise and find time to give lectures every other day at the university. Is she busier than me?"

Wenzhe stayed silent because any reply in this case would be like stepping on a landmine.

"Won't you answer me? Am I talking to myself?"

"No, no, no, young master, I was just thinking of the most appropriate answer to give you."

"So," he looked expectantly at Wenzhe, "Is she busier than me?"

"No way young master. Its not possible in any infinite universe for anybody to be busier than you."

Wenzhe wiped invisible sweat from his forehead after giving what he personally considered to be a unique and perfect answer.

"What bull shit are you saying? Who asked about an infinite universe?"

"I meant to say that you work than harder than anybody else in the world so she cannot possibly be busier than you."

"Exactly." Jun Muyang stood up and walked back and forth in his large office.

"Umm, why are you bothered so much by this young master?"

Jun Muyang paused his movement and frowned, "How is it any of your business?"

"Sorry young master." he bowed his head. Working for the golden master was really nerve wrecking.

"Do you think she saw the post or heard about the gossip?"

"Everybody in the empire has heard the gossip. She works in the media industry, I am sure she has seen the post."

"So why hasn't she reached out to say anything about it."

"It must be because she likes you young master. She did ask you to go out on a date with her."

"That's true." Jun Muyang sat back down in his chair and smiled smugly. "She does have feelings for me."

"So you should not be anxious young master, she will definitely reach out."

"Who said I was anxious?"

"I am sorry I misspoke." Wenzhe's anxiety returned again.

A knock on the door saved him from enduring the cold gaze of the devil. In his heart, he said a prayer for Chi Lian who was throwing herself into the lion's den with both arms wide open.

"Will you get the door or do I have to do it myself?"

Wenzhe quickly went and opened the door.

"Miss Chu, what are you doing here?" he exclaimed in shock. This woman was stalking the young master and refused to give up.

Miss Chu Sihua was the daughter of the Chu family, a big family that had built its fortune in technology. Through a series of work cooperation's, she had met Jun Muyang and instantly been attracted to him.

Her father had proposed a marriage of mutual benefits for both families but Jun Muyang rejected the offer. However, Miss Chu refused to take no for an answer and consistently continued to bother him. She possessed both beauty and wealth, she believed she could win his heart with time.

If it were not for her upstanding family, Jun Muyang would have had her thrown into a mental asylum already.

"The young master is busy. He cannot see you right now."

Miss Chu pushed her way into the office, "Brother, Chu-Chu is here to see you. I brought you some packed dishes from the royal kitchen."

The royal kitchen was a high end restaurant that catered to the elite of society. The food was as expensive as it was delicious.

"I am not hungry." Jun Muyang ignored her.

"Brother when will the Jun family release a statement rebuking that awful rumor about you and that woman? It's ruining your image." she batted her eyelashes playfully.

"The Jun family affairs are none of your business."

"I am the future daughter-in-law of the Jun family. Everything about you is my business."

"I don't recall ever saying that I have any interest in you."

"I am the only woman you have ever allowed to come this close to you." She walked towards him and tried to touch him.

Jun Muyang pushed his chair backwards as far away from her as possible and frowned.

"You are here because I do business with your father but that can always change. Wenzhe, get her out of my office."

"Yes young master."

Wenzhe pulled a screaming Miss Chu out of the office.

After throwing her out, he returned and threw out the food she brought as well.

The secretary outside called Wenzhe and told him that there was a delivery for the young master.

Wenzhe opened the door and went to the secretary's desk. There he found a huge bouquet of roses.

Conflicted, he was not sure if he could tell the young master about it because they could have been brought by Miss Chu.

"Who sent them? he asked the delivery man.

"One lady Chi Lian."

Immediately, he run into the office and placed the flowers on Jun Muyang's desk.

"Young master, I told you that she has feelings for you."

"Who?"

"Chi Lian." he answered, "She sent you roses."

"Hmph." he replied. "You can leave now."

A confused Wenzhe closed the office door in puzzlement. All the secretaries outside were looking at him questioningly.

Usually, any delivery from a woman would be thrown out immediately. Like the delicious food from the royal kitchen which was now sitting on the desk of the secretary.

She had clearly over heard the delivery man say that the flowers from Chi Lian, so why had they not been thrown out. Perhaps there was a truth to the rumors about their relationship after all.

The secretary pulled out her phone and put this information in the office gossip group chat.
