30 How forgetful!

After a long weekend, Chi Lian made a realisation, she had been absolutely foolish to ignore the most obvious and easiest way to make money. It was the one thing most transmigrators did when they ended up in another world, plagiarism!!!

This was an empire, not a country, so all those movies and songs which were related to heroism and patriotism did not exist in this world. Even history itself, the history of this world was different from that of her original world.

All this time she had been looking for ways to make money to build her media empire and she had the answers all along.

She didn't have to sing or act herself, she just had to come up with the scripts and write the songs.

It was time to rush the plan of starting an entertainment company. It would kill two birds with one stone, destroy her bastard ex fiancé and fund her goals.

Her ex fiancé was trying to discredit her online and ruin her reputation. Over the weekend, some hired Internet trolls were spreading false rumours and fabricated scandals about her. Thankfully, T4 had managed to shut that down real quick by hacking the trolls and infecting their computers with a virus.

But this was a serious reminder for her to wise up and handle Ji Haolin as soon as possible. Her enemy should not be allowed to grow lest he comes back and bites her when she least expects it.

With that decision made, the entire Chi family had gone to work on Monday morning with plans to make new changes and help Chi Lian conduct interviews for new staff in the company.

Before they left home, she told them about the plan to open an entertainment company and a toy manufacturing company.

Chi Wei was worried that they were taking on too much.

Chi Lian had looked at him solemnly and said,

"I have a friend that visited Africa once, she heard a saying over there, ' Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up knowing that it must outrun the fastest lion in order to survive and every morning a lion wakes up knowing that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle in order to feed and survive. But it does not matter whether you are a lion or gazelle, what matters is that you wake up running.'"

She had paused and looked at him seriously,

"Elder brother, in this story, do you think we are the gazelle or the lion?"

"Uhm, the gazelle." he replied unsurely.

The other family members were listening to the conversation and wanted to give their opinions but did not want to say the wrong thing.

"Wrong brother. We are the lion. Every day those big companies with legacies and history work harder to out compete the new start ups. They know if they slow down for one second, the hungry start up will swallow them.

We, the lion, must run fast to catch up with them starting with the slowest one first."

"Ooh." a collective sound came from all around.

"That is why we cannot slow down. Those companies are not sitting by idly and waiting for us to catch up with them. They are racing ahead to keep a distance between us. We have to work three times as hard to keep up. That is why from now on, you and father will take over the toy company. Second brother and mother will deal with the entertainment company. I will keep the media company going because I am the one who has been running it anyway. "

T4 who was listening to the conversation let out a snort. He was the one running the media company! okay!. Where was his credit?

"Where will we work from?" Chi Rui asked. Unlike the last time they went in to work he was excited this time around. A handsome man like him could deal with the affairs of the entertainment company well. His looks were not meant any other kind of work.

"In the same building. Mother will be there to make sure you don't mess up. Things like casting couch, or sleeping with the company owner for resources are out of question. " She warned him immediately.

"Chhhh! as if I can sleep with any random person. " Chi Rui rolled his eyes.

"Now let's go and conduct those interviews." She said and walked into the car with a spring in her step.

In the building, the ground floor was the chosen avenue for the interview process.

She needed some directors, script writers, camera men, reporters, anchors, editors, and a manager because she would often be out of the office.

Through a series of background checks, T4 had already picked out those that he considered to be the best among the applicants and they were here for the last step of the interview.

Chi Lian just wanted to make sure that they could get along with them. She did not want lazy people or those with poor attitudes.

After a series of questions and one on one interactions, they all passed and were hired spontaneously.

When the interviewees left, Chi Lian gave her family the new arrangements.

Since the building had three floors, the ground floor would be used by Chi Wei and her father. The reception area would be there as well.

The middle floor was for the media company and the upper floor was for the entertainment company.

But as they talked, a voice interrupted.

"Am I late for the interview?"

Chi Lian looked at the entrance and saw a young, very beautiful tall and petite lady with pixie cut hair. She was dressed exquisitely in a red pant suit with a white shirt. She had on red heels to match a bright diamond studs in her ears.

"Are you in the right place?" Chi Lian asked tentatively.

"Yes...I am here for the interview with phoenix media." She answered confidently.

"Uhm, let me check the paperwork and get back to you." Chi Lian pretended to look through some papers as she spoke to T4.

"She is the Princess Long Rize, she applied at the last moment and I forgot to mention it. She has a degree in journalism but her family refuses to let her work on the national broadcasting network because people will call it nepotism. The other television networks won't take her on because she is too opinionated." T4 explained.

"And you sent her to me!" Chi Lian could spot a trouble maker from a distance.

"Hellooooo....do I get the job or not?" The princess waved her hands around.

" Well..uhm..Princess we are not a big television network yet. As you can see, our operation is still small. I am not sure we will be the right fit for you."

"Don't worry, a good friend of my family said you would accomplish great things so I am hitching my horse to the wagon while I still can."

" Who is that friend?" Chi Lian asked curiously.

"The state minister for security. "

Chi Lian cursed in her heart. That wicked man was sending a spy to her company.

"She will be good for bringing in viewers if you use her in the right way." T4 gave his calculated opinion.

" Welcome aboard." Chi Lian hugged the Princess suddenly very enthusiastically.

When it came to money, she did not play around.
