9 Never Settle For A Mistress

Sang Xiu frowned at Yang Jia statement and asked "What is it you really want Yang Jia?"

"What are you talking about? Do you suddenly have a problem with me saving my family's company." Yang Jia asked

"I'm just surprised."

"What's there to be surprised about, Yang Jia has always been intelligent." Yang Jiu said with proudness in his voice. He walked up to Yang Jia and hugged her.

After hugging his daughter, he looked at Sang Xiu and said "I need to ensure that nothing goes wrong on that day. I will see the both of you later."

After Yang Jiu left the living room in excitement, Sang Xiu suddenly smiled at Yang Jia and asked "Fu Mingze? Is that who you have your sight on now?"

Yang Jia frowned and asked "What do you mean by that?"

"No one, not even the media has gotten a glimpse of the only grandson of Fu Shen for four years but yet you were able to get a personal invitation from him. And here I thought, you were satisfied with being with the illegimate child of the Gu family."

" My relationship with either Gu Zhen or Fu Mingze is none of your concern, stay within your limit Sang Xiu."

Sang Xiu nodded and said "I should, seeing you living in my daughter's shadow is going to be quite fun after all." Sang Xiu collected the things she bought with her daughter from the couch and left the living room.

Yang Jia on the other hand glared at Sang Xiu as she left, only she knew how she got that invitation. Immediately she saw Fu Mingze, he just kept asking about Yang Meiyi. At least she should be glad that Fu Mingze doesn't see Meiyi as a woman and she would have to ensure that he never sees her as such.

Sang Xiu smiled when she opened her daughter room door and saw her pressing her phone. "What are you searching for on your phone."

Yang Meiyi dropped her phone and and said "Still no news about Fu Mingze, all the internet has been talking about is the Fu group anniversary. Do you think he will be there?"

Sang Xiu sighed and said "Forget about Fu Mingze, you are going to college every soon and I'm sure you will meet a lot of guys there."

"But none will be like him, none will smile at me the way he does."

"I have seen the way he treats you and he treats you like an annoying little girl he can't wait to get rid of."

"But I'm no longer a kid, I'm now an adult."

"You are sixteen sweetheart."

"Seventeen in two days."

"Fine you are a mini adult." Sang Xiu said with a smile. She brush Meiyi hair with her finger and said "I hate seeing you this way, you want to plan your birthday party with me."

Meiyi shook her head and said "I don't think I want a birthday party this year, father always find an excuse to leave, Yang Jia never attends and all my friends who attend are just fake, so I will pass."

"Then let's spend it together, I promise you that it will be fun. And the next day is the Fu group anniversary, come with me. I'm not sure but, I think Fu Mingze might be there this time."

"Why doesn't dad spend time with us anymore?"

Sang Xiu sighed and said "He has been very busy with work, but I assure that he will take the day off just to be with you on your birthday."

Yang Meiyi smiled and nodded.

"Does that little girl know you are back?"

A twenty five years old Fu Mingze looked at his grandfather and asked "Does it matter?"

Fu Shen chuckled and said "I wonder if she would still want to marry you after seeing how worst your temper have become."

Fu Mingze iignored his grandfather comment and said "The Fu group anniversary is tomorrow and after that I need you to step down from every affair that has to do with the company."

"Today is her birthday, have you wished her a happy birthday?" Fu Shen asked ignoring his grandson statement.

Fu Mingze sighed and said "Yang Meiyi is your adopted granddaughter, she is your business and not mine."

"You are so cruel. That girl has loved you since she was just ten years old."

"It was a childish infatuation, you should never have taken it seriously by adopting her as your granddaughter. On Monday I will resume as the new CEO of Fu group, I will be too busy to deal with any childish thought."

"Whatever." The old man said in a pout.

Fu Mingze sighed and said "And I will also appreciate it if you don't interfere with my private life."

"I will stay away from the company affairs but never from your life."

"Do whatever you want, I'm leaving." Fu Mingze said and left his grandfather study.

Fu Mingze entered his room and removed his suit jacket, he took out his phone from his pocket and scrolled through his contact, he stopped at a contact saved with 'Annoying kid' and type on the message, he scrolled through all the messages she has sent him and found himself smiling and for the first time in four years he typed to her 'Happy Birthday.'

After pressing send, his phone immediately rang, he frowned when he saw the caller ID and answered it.

"I know you said it wasn't necessary but I want to thank you for helping the Yang corporation."

"It's no problem. Your father shouldn't force you to do what you don't want to do."

Yang Jia scoffed and said "He only cares about his company, I also care about it after all it will one day become mine unless he decided to give it all to his new family."

Fu Mingze heard the bitterness in her voice and asked "Have you ever given them a chance? I may not know Sang Xiu that well but I do know that she isn't a bad person. During the times she would come to visit my grandfather, she was very nice."

"A nice person wouldn't ruin another woman home." Yang Jia bite back.

"Sang Xiu is a proud woman, she would never settle for a mistress title. Have you ever thought that there might be something about your parents marriage that you don't know about?"

"Does it matter? My mom died because she felt betrayed by my father and instead of grieving her, he came inside the house with a pregnant Sang Xiu. No matter what you say I can never give them a chance."

Fu Mingze was quiet for a moment before saying "Then would it be wrong to ask how she is celebrating her birthday?"

Yang Jia knew the 'she' he was referring to was Yang Meiyi, she looked at Yang Meiyi was smiling happily as she cutted her cake and said "Yes, it would be wrong."
