Many where not trainied in combat and some had not even realized their talents yet, from young to old they were swiftly assasinated by Demonfolk, unless the magic users where procient in magical combat which where few and far between during the peaceful era. Mages with their powers fully realized where some of the only humans capable enough to face Demons head on .But with the majority of mages lifes snubbed out before they could utilize their powers was one of the major reasons humans where losing the war.

Eiji was the one to break the silence, putting on his most sympathetic face "ahhh I'm sorry your majesty, I'm just so nervous it's not working...."

Your core right here" Bijou illustrated by point in the center Simon's chest "It's the source of your powers, every mages core is different and depending on your magics attributes they can even appear differently, bigger smaller, lighter darker.

For mages, your core is like a second heart, pushing mana around your body similarly to way your heart pushes oxygen around your body. When utilizing your mana you have to try redirect and control the flow instead of allowing it to flow passively throughout your body. Only when you have that down can you learn to change the properties of mana when its released for example.... sorry are you following this might be a bit much for a a beginner".

*Eiji who had tuned out half of the explanation and was content staring at Bijou's dreamy body* ".......Oh yes I'm very focused your highness sir..." "Good, now please try again, maybe close your eyes this time to help you visualise." So he did just that. He remember what Bijou said about the core and envisioned it pumping mana around his body, strangely when he did this he could almost feel its presence pumping through his body, a slight tingling sensation like someone shot electricity through his veins, he tried directing this energy towards his palm and it worked!

He could feel the energy re-directing and bending towards his will. Even though his eyes where still closed he could feel the hot sensation of his powers just at the tip of his finger tips waiting to be released, so release he did and.... the force of the amount of energy being released sent him flying back like a rag doll.

"AHhhhh" Eiji let out a scream as his back painfully came in contact with the ragged and rocky garden path. "SHIT" EIji said to himself he didn't have the energy to speak out loud as he had just got the wind knocked out of him, his ears where ringing too and he could just tell he was in horrible shape. His eyes where still tightly shut and while he was tired as fuck and possibly on the verge of passing out he wanted to at least see what kind of magic had resulted in this type of fallout, so he opened his eyes to see.... nothing, he couldn't see much of anything except for a bright white light burning into the back of his retinas.
