5 Chapter 4

[Cadet Corps opening day]

As head instructor Keith Shadis finished talking, he glanced at one boy that had the same green eyes of a man he once knew. 'Eren Yeager' he thought. He envied this boy's father back when he was in the Survey Corps. No, he still did. He felt inferior , he didn't think he was special. Of course he still remembered Grisha's words a while back when he said the Survey Corps required special people. Was he special? Could he be? He ended up taking his words by heart and developed an attitude of superiority.

Once he was appointed as the 12th Commander, he began to think he actually was, but under his leadership, the failures were worse and he received hate from the people for always staying alive but his soldiers always ended up dying. He began to feel worse and worse as days past on, but nothing hurt more than seeing the women he loved married to the man he felt jealous of , with a baby as well. Finally admitting that he was never going to become someone "special" , he resigned as Commander , naming Erwin Smith as his successor.

Instructor Keith started walking around all the new recruits screaming in their faces. Eren glanced at Armin. He had him do some exercises with him and Mikasa but he knew it wouldn't really change anything, but with Mikasa, the more she trained with him, the stronger she got. He found it odd why this was and had his own speculations but he wouldn't know for sure. Although she still wasn't at his level and probably would never be at equal strength with him considering his powers, Eren reckoned she would be way stronger than her canon self.

"Hey!, What do they call you , maggot!" Keith shouted in Armins face.

"Armin Arlet , from Shinganshina , sir!" Armin responded back with some sweat starting to form on his face.

"Why would your parents name you with such a dumb name!" Keith asked moving closer to his face.

Eren at this point tuned them out and started to look around for the main characters. He saw Jean Kristien standing there looking ahead. He never really understood why people called him a horse as he himself didn't see it. Don't get him wrong , he doesn't like his character as he really didn't interest him as much when he watched the anime , but adding to the fact that Jean had a crush on Mikasa made him dislike him even more. He knew Mikasa herself would never give Jean the time of day and wouldn't even consider talking to him. She kept her cold persona in public but when she was with Eren....

Looking over a few rows he saw a small blonde girl with blue eyes. 'Historia...' Eren thought. He'd seriously have to get used to calling her Christa. If he were to slip up , it would be pretty bad. He wouldn't even be able to come up with an excuse with that one without exposing his powers, but maybe he should to get Ymir on their side.

If he could get Ymir on the Eldians side then they'd have the Jaws Titan with them. In the original, Ymir ended up going with Reiner and Bertholt. He didn't want Ymir to join the other side, he didn't want to kill her because he actually liked her character. He was absolutely not going to have the Jaws Titan go to enemies hands. It was able to break threw the Titan crystals , meaning it was a weakness against the Warhammer Titan and a back up against Annie.. Eren knew once he was strong enough and continued to grow, by the time he faces the Warhammer , he'd be able to break titan crystal with just his physical strength..

Seeing as Keith was walking up to Sasha, he took a look at Reiner and Bertholt. He wasn't sure on what to do with them at the moment. Reiner due to getting too attached ended up making a split personality. He could find a way to use that to his advantage, but the problem was how he was going to do that. Bertholdt was a human bomb. With his strength right now he knew he didn't have any way to defeat the Colossal Titan. Canon Eren's Titan was kicked like a football back in season 3. He was sure by the time their battle actually happens, he'd be strong enough to take him down on his own. Another thing he had to worry about was Bertholdt's transformation. What would happen if they surrounded him but he just ended up transforming. They could cover his mouth , like with Annie in season 2 but he'd have to make sure Bertholdt didn't have any items on him like Annie's ring. Otherwise it would be game over once he transforms. And then there was Annie. He never understood the whole thing with her father. He kinda liked her character and hoped he wouldn't have to kill her but he'd do it if he can't persuade her.

"Sasha Braus from Dauper village, at your service. Reporting for duty sir!" Looking over, Eren saw Keith Shadis face to face with Sasha , who had potato crumbs around her mouth. Eren had to admit , she looked pretty silly like that. He didn't know how she could look so serious and stupid at the same time without laughing. It was pretty funny.

"Sasha Braus, what is that you're holding in your right hand" Keith asked sternly looking down at Sasha.

"It's a potato sir! It was just sitting there in the mess hall just asking to be eaten!" Sasha responded

'Why does she look so serious?' Eren questioned in his head. He'll never understand Sasha's obsession over potatoes.

"So why do you have a potato with you. Here of all places , at this moment" Keith asked. He seemed to be getting annoyed with this girl.

"Sir! It seemed pretty cold just sitting there , so I let it take shelter in my stomach"

"No... what I can't comprehend is why you're eating that potato..." Keith said

"Are you asking why people eat potatoes? I'm surprised you don't know sir." Sasha answered. She genuinely looked confused on why he didn't know.

"..."

"....."

Needless to say, Sasha had to run the rest of the day after that incident and be known as potato girl by her fellow cadets.

'This is gonna be a long 3 years...'
