Slowly but steadily she walked toward him until she was standing directly in front of him and her eyes looked down into his. He was sitting with his legs parted widely, his head was leaning back against his hands that were folded. Sometimes she wondered if he did this deliberately because he noticed how often her eyes gazed at them. Either that or it was his favorite and most comfortable position. 

She stood between his parted legs and said, "I do not want you to consider my next words as a spontaneous declaration of love." 

"I consider nothing about you to be spontaneous," he replied smugly. "If you were we would not be talking right now."
