1 The Beginning.

*Bang*

A massive searing pain assaulted my body as a bullet hit me in the back.

I fell face down on the road, a life flashed before my eyes.

That's right. A life not MY life. The life that flashed before my eyes wasn't mine, it was the life of this body.

Leon Bennett. Born October 30th 1990. King County, Georgia.

Well at least some of that's right. My name is Leon Bennett and I was born on the 30th of October, but not in Georgia. I'm from Manchester, England, born and bred. And I wasn't born in 1990, I was born in 2002 twelve years later.

The weirdest thing though wasn't the fact that I had somehow transmigrated into someone else's body, it was the fact that I knew where I was.

I was in an entirely different world.

A world of pain and suffering, and yet also excitement and opportunity.

I was in a world I knew all too well. I was in The Walking Dead.

I would have jumped for joy and pumped my first into the air at this realisation, if only I wasn't currently slipping in and out of consciousness in the back of an ambulance.

Why did this happen? Why me?

One minute I was just at the range with some of the guys, and the next I was sat in a car with a man I don't recognise responding to a call out in a police cruiser.

I barely had time to register it all before we arrived at a back road, got out and pulled out our firearms.

To be quite honest I was quite caught up in the moment, my body seemed to move by itself.

That was until I got a good look at the other two men in the other car.

Holy shit it was Shane and Rick. THE RICK GRIMES.

I mean right now he wasn't THE Rick Grimes, but it was still pretty damn awesome to see a fictional character in real life.

I remembered this scene from the TV Show. It was one of the first scenes, where Rick gets shot.

I seemed to have replaced that rookie cop who said something stupid. I of course didn't say anything stupid, no matter how much I wanted to fan boy out right now, now wasn't the time.

This is a very important part of the canon, there's no way I'm going to change such an event, I slowly started to plan out what I would do in the coming months before the apocalypse.

It was then that a silver car came racing down the road in front of us, closely chased by two police cars.

This was it. Everything played out how it should have: the car flipped, the two criminals got shot, then Rick got shot by the third. That's when the canon changed.

In the original Rick got shot and then before the third man could do anything, Shane killed him. This didn't quite go like that now though.

This time after Rick got shot, the thug fired another shot. This shot ricocheted off of an open car door and buried itself in my left shoulder.

And that's what led me here.

I was currently lying in a hospital bed in a joint room with Rick. I had seen flashes of people come and go, but for some reason I couldn't even talk to them.

I realised I was in some sort of coma, just like Rick was, weird.

It was during this strange semi-conscious state that I finally came to terms with the fact that I had died. Not now of course, but before.

I no longer existed in my old world, and for some unknown reason I was now in the world of my favourite TV Show.

To be honest there wasn't really much waiting for me in my old world.

I had a girlfriend but I was honestly only In it for the sex. It wasn't something I normally did, but she was crazy about me and pretty wild in bed so I figured, why not?

I didn't have any family that I talked to other than my younger sister, who I would miss of course. But that was it really.

If I had one wish it could be to bring Z with me into this world.

He was my best friend, the only one I could really talk to about anything, I would miss him.

It was then that a sudden *bloop* sounded in my head and a blue screen popped up in front of my face before a voice sounded in my ear.

"Hey Cam. How are you feeling?"

'Z, how are you here?'

"I'm not, and yet I am. It's strange. I have been enlisted to help you on your journey. I know it's a lot to take in but something plucked me out of existence after I died and said I could help you or fizzle out into nothingness. So obviously I picked helping out my best bud, even if it does mean you get to have all the fun."

'I don't know what to say man. Thanks.'

"Oh c'mon don't be gettin' all soppy on me now you tart. We're beginning an adventure, let's enjoy it."

I smiled in my head since I still couldn't move my body, then I glanced over the screen in front of me.

/Name: Leon Bennett

Status: Semi-Comatose (00:03:46)

Mind: 9.8

Body: 7.6

Soul: 10.0

Energy: 0.1/76 (Body x10)

Recovery: 9.1/Min (Mean of Basic Stats)

Skills: Copy-Paste(lvl1)

Traits: Sharpshooter, Bowman, Survivor, Alive/

So those were my stats. Z explained that the peak a normal human can reach is 10 in all stats so mine were pretty good.

I had a quick skim over my traits before settling on my only skill.

/Copy-Paste - Level 1 - Allows the user to copy anything and paste it anywhere. The only limit is your imagination. (Energy cost proportionate to skill level and object complexity.)/

It was a pretty beastly skill with near limitless potential.

The timer on my Semi-Comatose status was nearly over so I closed my status screen with a thought before getting ready to get up.

However, when the timer hit the 2 minute mark I heard a voice from beside me.

"That vase is something special..."

It was Rick! He was still here? Nice, that means I could start with the canon.

As the timer neared 30 seconds Rick fell to the floor calling the nurse, before stumbling to my bedside and trying to shake me awake.

I gasped for breath as the timer hit zero and my eyes focused on Rick in his hospital gown.

"Rick?" I said in a raspy voice. "What's going on?"

I stupidly tried to stand just as Rick did but I fell down. I sighed at my stupidity before pulling off the drip line and the electrodes on my chest.

"I've got no idea son, but I intend to find out." He replied whilst trying to help me stand.

We went I to the rooms toilet and took turns drinking from the tap.

We were quite dehydrated as the IV must have ran out a while back.

After we had rehydrated, we headed into the corridor outside.

Rick searched the nurse's station and tried the phone to no avail. Lights were flickering in the dilapidated hallway, we followed it to the end to a different nurses station where Rick tried the phone again before taking some matches from off the table and lighting one and checking the table again, no luck.

The end of the hallway was just around the corner so we walked over.

Through the window of the door we could see the remains of a woman lying on the ground, half eaten and gnawed on.

Rick's eyes widened in fear as I faked a gasp from behind him.

I say faked but to be honest it was pretty disturbing, I'd seen plenty of gruesome scenes before but this still made my stomach churn a little.

Rick stumbled in the opposite direction with a shocked expression, I tried to do the same but I wasn't all that convincing. Not that it mattered as Rick was far to preoccupied with his internal freakout to worry about me.

Towards the end of the corridor there were bullet holes along the wall, and right at the end was a set of double doors with the words 'Don't open dead inside' written on them.

The doors were closed with a plank of wood and a sturdy padlock and chain.

As we neared it the Walkers on the other side started ramming against it and moaning, this caused Rick to freak out a little as he has no idea what is going on.

A walker stuck ther fingers through the gap in the door which was the last straw for Rick who decidedly ran through a different door and towards the elevators. He started pushing buttons before heading towards the fire escape instead once he realised the elevators wouldn't work.

It was dark in the stairwell so Rick lit a match. The smell was something unreal, it felt like I was constantly trying to swallow a whole ham that had been left out in the summer sun for a month. In short it was disgusting.

We slowly inched down the stairs, lighting a few matches along the way, before we reached a fire exit.

As Rick opened the door, the blinding sunlight flooded in and the sound of cicadas humming filled the air.

The breath of fresher air was a relief after the stinking hospital but the view was about the same level of disturbing.

The rotting bodies piled up in the small carpark were the sight that ruined it for me. So far it hadn't quite sunk in that this world was real. But now it had.

I vomited my empty stomach onto the pavement. Retching and heaving, only to get no results.

It took me a minute to compose myself before I could walk forward again.

The gravel of the carpark hurt my feet as I walked along it, In between the rows of corpses.

We walked out of the carpark and up a small grass hill towards a helicopter. As we reached the top of the hill it revealed a small military camp.

We went in and looked in every tent but found very little. There was only three guns and none of them had any ammo in them. I took them anyway, hung them on my back.

I also took some clothes from a trunk and changed into some military boots as well.

Rick didn't even bother and just wandered out the other side of the camp.

I figured he was about a size 11 so I grabbed an extra pair of boots for him and started stuffing some clothes and rations in two military rucksacks.

Rick would probably appreciate it later so I figured I may as well.

As I was doing this Rick eventually figured out I wasn't with him and came back.

He was in a bit of a daze so he only ended up putting the boots on before walking back the way he left before, I followed closely.
