13 The masked man (2)

Dena was on pins and needles, sensing the man's intense gaze on herself. She woke up a while ago, but she wasn't ready to face him. So she chose an easy and cowardly way out of it. She pretended to be asleep. She remembered that throughout the night, she snuggled up in his arms! Oh, God, she never even knew who he was! Some of her memories were blurry, and she was unsure whether she had slept with him or not!

' I never dreamed of a day dreading waking up in a hotel with a complete stranger.'

It was not like she was an innocent Mary virgin girl, but she had never had a one-night stand in her life. Staying with Noah was something completely different. She had a particular insight into him from reading the book. She slowly touched herself. 'Thank heavens I'm dressed!'

She heard the rustle of the blanket; the man got out of bed and went to the bathroom. Dena sat up quickly and looked around the room. ' Wow, where is this place? It is a palace rather than a hotel! '

The room was as large as her previous home; the walls were made of glass, revealing the views of the city and the blue sky. The floors were covered with a Persian carpet containing a large azure and gilded medallion in the hall's centre. The sofa set was classic and elegant with a sand brown wooden frame and white fabric. The dark gold chandelier hung on the roof was too much of an eye-catcher. Everything in the room was rich and lavish, and Dena found herself awed.

In the bathroom, the man looked at his face in a mirror. Without that mask, he had platinum blond hair and golden eyes. This appearance was of little concern to him. The mask's purpose was to help him avoid seeing the nature of others, even himself. Until now, he always hated getting a glimpse of his form in a passing mirror or glass, but now he was happy to see his wolf. Within their family, he was the only one who had this form. Because His mother, after giving birth to him, died, his mother's family clashed with his father and severed ties with him. He had never seen someone with a wolf nature.

His father's ancestors belonged to the hunting tribe. They, therefore, had a great deal of information on others. Over the years, they went from hunters to undercover agents in order to build their underground networks.

By this time, they had infiltrated all major industries and all political parties. His father considered his children to be an excellent tool for gaining more power and control over his organisation. With his faux pas in his childhood, he was constantly trained to use his ability to be an excellent agent. He could easily see through everyone's intents with their changing appearance. His cold-blooded father's image was as a Python, and his sister's nature was a greedy chipmunk who never gave up her food.

The only pure one was his little brother. It was always human in his eyes, even if there were a few changes in the colours he emitted, like red for anger and pink for joy. He was his favourite person in the family, although he couldn't show it to anyone.

Once, he was naive enough to give him a toy, but Noah was lost for hours the next day in a small field near their house. After that, he decided to take a different route to approach him. He compared and rivalled him in order to show his enemies that he disliked Noah and, as a result, secretly protected him.

The disadvantage, however, was that Noah reacted with annoyance and disgust!

He remembered Noah's joyful face as he looked at the black-haired boy. He never looked at him with that expression! He came to this city because of this unfamiliar expression he saw in Noah. Well, it was an unexpected harvest for him. He had no intention of showing himself to the boy, but he saw an enormous blue aura surrounding him. He was afraid he might do something foolish. But when he locked eyes with him, he instantly recognised him as his mate. It was unfortunate that the boy's condition was fluctuating and unstable, and had blacked out during their initial encounter. He had heard about it from one of his tutors. It was a rare occurrence for wolves not to wish for a bonding. Most of the time, their animal instincts would be awakened at first sight and make a unique link with their mate, but sometimes they were detached from their wolves and put a wall around themselves to cope with their fragile selves. He should take his time so he doesn't frighten the boy. If he pushed him into an unwanted relationship, that might have a negative impact on him.

He wore his mask and left the bathroom.

Meanwhile, Dena was trying to find her phone without success. 'Where is it? Did I leave it in the diner? I bet Noah was worried sick of my disappearing. '

'Hold on, why did I suppose he was only worrying about me?

What about Edwin's family? Or that brat? Well, I've only been here three days! Sure, I wouldn't consider them my family, but I've also known Noah for two days, and now he is the first person I could think of! This is not normal!'

Anyway, I should get in touch with Noah. But how?'

Dena was racking her brain to recall something useful about where Noah might be when she heard the click of a door. She raised her head and saw the man in a mask wearing a bathrobe standing there.

Dena's mind was blank for a moment.

' Oh god, I totally forgot about him!'

' Wow! He is literally the definition of a sexy man oozing testosterone! If I had my female body, I would get pregnant just by looking at him!'
