20 Slip Up

Inside a bathroom, marble tiles decorated the walls and floor, while the hot water in a white and gold bathtub steamed up the entire space. Dena lay down in the bathtub to relax her tight muscles. She shut her eyes while savouring this happiness.

" Aaaaaa…. Why did I say that? "

She suddenly yelled and sat in the tub, covering her face with both hands.

About four hours before:

Edwin's cell phone was in Noah's hands when he received a text from an unknown number.

Noah lifted his eyebrows at the content of the text.

"Hi, this is Jack from the hospital. Do you have time to hang out? "

'Why has Edwin become so popular? First Radin, and now Jack. Ah, so annoying!'

Noah growled over it with disdain.

He stared sceptically at Edwin. He ought to get a magic charm to ward off these bothersome flies.

"Hey, you got a message."

He poked Edwin in the ribs, informing him.

Dena was in a mood for brooding on the past. She was hugging her knees and moping when Noah poked her. She jolted from her seat, and through her lack of attention, she lost her balance and fell to the ground.

The weird scene made Noah laugh heartily. "How come you're so clumsy?"

Dena fumed as he mocked her instead of helping out and apologising. " Hey. I am extremely ticklish. Especially on my side. Okay?"

After a moment, she continued.

"Give me a hand up. I guess I hurt my knees when I fell."

Dena extended her hand toward him expecting him to reach out and grab it, but instead, Noah stood up from the couch and bent over to place one of his hands under her knees and around her shoulders. He picked her up effortlessly and sat on the sofa. He tried to roll up the hem of her jeans, but Dena was startled by the pain.

"I must see whether there is a wound; take off your pants."

Dena stared at him in horror. "Why do you always want to undress me when you have an opportunity? Even at the café we first met, you poured a drink on my shirt, then stalked me to the toilet!"

Noah laid his hand over his forehead. "Why do you care about this? Are you a girl?"

Dena had a guilty conscience.

Edwin's cheeks and ears were flushed with embarrassment. Noah was tempted to tease him more but took pity on him.

He got up and took a blanket to Edwin.

"Here, let me take a look at that knee."

Dena consented timidly and wrapped herself in the cover. She had a red, swollen knee. Noah put an ice pack on it and told him." it is not severe. It would be better after one night off."

"Thank you." Dena was aware that she had overreacted.

Both of them became silent when Her phone began to ring. Unexpectedly, it was Edwin's mother's call.

She insisted on Edwin going back home. Dena reluctantly agreed to it.

Earlier, she planned to guilt-trip Noah into promising to accompany her to Edwin's home. She couldn't run away from Edwin's family for the rest of her life.

She confirmed at the hospital that Noah's presence would keep her out of harm's way, especially Rojina.

She gave Noah an anxious look while fidgeting with her fingers.

"Umm... if I go like this, they'll never let me leave the house alone. But they shouldn't realise it if I put my weight on you while I'm standing or walking."

Noah thought. ' Are you kidding me? You might say that you fear your little sister! Wait a minute; he was awake that night? No, he shouldn't be aware that I fought with his sister. Then why does he need me there? '

He was sceptical about Edwin.

Dena feared he would turn it down, she said unreasonably.

"Technically, it's your fault that I'm this way. Act like a man and take responsibility!"

Noah was speechless. ' Ah, never mind. ' He took it upon himself to keep an eye on Edwin with those two, Radin and Jack, nagging him. He was so stupid they'd eat him up, and he wouldn't know it.

"I go there under one condition. If you meet Jack, I should be here as well."

Dena gladly agreed to that.

On their way home, Dena was a bundle of nerves. She remembered her awfully short time there, which led to her death. There was no way she could sit still. Upon arriving, she absentmindedly tried to get out of the car. But her sore knee put a brake on her mobility. Noah shook his head, seeing his sudden movement. ' Is he a goldfish? He forgot his knee injury! '

Butler Han was expecting the young master outside the manor. But the car stopped for a long time without anyone coming out. When his mind started running wild, the door opened, and a boy with brown hair and blue eyes in simple, neat clothes emerged. He reached out and helped another young man get out of the car. Butler Han realised this was their young master! 'Jesus, what the hell? Who is this guy? Why hold hands with each other? '

Although he was thinking about it, his facial expressions didn't change.

Dena looked at the familiar man, and her nervousness was shot through the roof.

'It's like I'm entering the dungeon, not my house.'

Noah patted Edwin's back, trying to calm him down. Butler Han led the way to the tea room, where three people were waiting for them.

Dena saw Edwin's sister, and she stumbled on her feet. 'What is she here for? Ah, I can still remember that painful night!'

Noah carefully stabilised him to avoid aggravating his knee injury, but it seemed to others that he was showing them their intimacy. Kathy was unable to restrain herself and asked directly.

"Oh, Noah, what brings you to this place?"

While she scolded him in her head, 'Why stick to my boy like glue? '

Dena, somewhat anxiously, answered the question.

"This is my boyfriend."

A moment of silence they occurred in the tearoom.

The milky voice of Rojina made them come to their senses. "Brother, Are you gay?"

Dena's intelligence went online, and she discovered what she had said! 'How could I forget that now I am a man!'

She felt she had created a bigger problem for herself. Edwin's family would be more against Noah than ever. She placed him in a delicate position where he could not say he was not her lover in front of everyone. Throughout the evening, Dena did not look at Noah's face due to shame.
