56 Are you an ... ? (1)

The pair of sea green eyes and that of crystal blue stared straight into each other, making the atmosphere which was already quiet into quieter. The former being curious about while a young child would wander alone without any company and the latter being glad for not needing to sneak into the inner ground.

But immediately after meeting the person, Lucas got sweaty over thinking about a question.

'How do I greet a priest properly?'

Before, Lucas didn't have that much of an interest in the cathedral. In fact, it would be true to say that praying to the god never came to his mind since the beginning which is why he didn't visit any other church or cathedral, making him to have no experience in greeting the priests or such. Thinking back, even when he met the god, did he even pay any respect?

"What might you be doing here, then? Is there anything that I can help?"

Lucas was glad that the priest offered to initiate first and at the same time, surprised at how soothing the voice of the priest was. He wouldn't be amazed if someone said this person was capable of calming a fight or quarrel immediately without much effort.

"Actually, to be honest, I am looking for a person, Sir Priest."

Trying to be as polite as he could, Lucas replied to the conversation with a little bow. Lucas didn't want to be rude to the person for two reasons. First, the person seemed like someone of high position in the religious sector by looking at the simple, yet, more refined clothing compared to the other priests that he had met.

And secondly, Lucas wanted to make a good first impression on the person in front of him.

'I shouldn't be rude to someone who might be going to have to help me in the future, should I?'

And that was why Lucas was concerned with greetings, the ways of speaking and the choice of words, without knowing that his actions had made the owner of the sea green eyes to be stunned a bit.

'Are the Evandalls used to be that polite?'

With rare white hair, crystal blue eyes and the ability to come roaming around the holy cathedral alone had already made the priest aware of Lucas's identity, expecting some blunt conversation just like the behavior of the other Evandalls as usual but the posture of the boy in front of him and the way he politely spoke almost made him to be speechless and made him create a small smile unconsciously, in remembrance of someone.

"Is that so… Can you tell me who might you be looking for? I know most of the people in the cathedral."

Hearing the priest offer his help willingly, Lucas looked around to make sure that there was no one in the room. It wasn't something that the others should overheard since the book stated that the veteran didn't want the world to know much about the Book of Knowledge.

"I'm looking for the owner of a book. The book which contains the blessing of Lucian."

There are two ways to describe the Book of Knowledge. Firstly it was just 'The book of Knowledge' which may be weird for the normal people who didn't know and might raise curiosity. Secondly, it was 'A book containing the blessing of Lucian.' as it was said that Lucian blessed the family with such knowledge.

The second way of describing could be confused as just a normal history book of Lucian blessings to the world to the ones who didn't know but the one who knew would react differently. And it was what Lucas was aiming at. After all, in the book, the veteran said that for him it was the book which contained the true blessings of Lucian for his family.

'And I think I have already found him.'

Lucas almost grinned seeing that the smile on the priest's face disappeared for a moment. It might be just a few seconds but Lucas, who didn't even blinked to check the reaction of the priest, caught the loss in composure immediately.

"Ummm… I think almost every priest owns that kind of book. Will you be a little specific about the features of the person?"

"That person would be you, Sir. Priest." Lucas created a small smile with satisfaction. "You have the Book of Knowledge, don't you?"

The atmosphere which was already tranquil enough was instantly turned into that of the cold one as the expression of the priest showed shock and unbelief of what he had heard. It had been hundreds of years that his family protected this secret but now he didn't know why the child before him knew about this. Or why the Evandalls knew about this.

'Has this information already spread?'

The priest tried to rationally think about the possibilities but information spreading seemed to be impossible because if that was really true, the first person who would look for him would not be Lucas.

"Oh, by the way, you don't have to worry because only I know about this, Sir Priest. I didn't even talk about it to my family so you can rest assured."

"How….."

The priest couldn't really figure out no matter how much he thought about it. It should be the information that only he should know but now it seemed that it wasn't.

"How do you know that, child?" The priest was neither smiling or glaring and Lucas realized that he was trying to calmly figure out the situation and he also believed that the priest saw him as a small threat because of his young age or maybe not.

"I will tell you how I know about this if you are willing to give me a bit of time to hear my request."

'He won't try to kill me, right?' Lucas shivered at the thought even though the priest in front of him didn't seem like he would do something like killing a child immediately but Lucas didn't want to let down his guard. And Lucas didn't continue to talk as the priest gestured to him to wait a bit while he chanted some spells. It seemed that the priest was making the room soundproof.

"You can speak of your request. But tell me how you know about it, first."

The priest nodded at Lucas, signaling that his chanting was now complete.

Lucas was stunned at how the priest was so straightforward as he was expecting to have some words of refusal like 'I don't know what you are talking about' and such. But it was not like it made him depressed. With this, he could move on to the topic quickly.

"I read about it in the book."

Lucas honestly answered.

And that made the priest stunned.

It was impossible. Totally impossible that such secret information would be written in a book.

"Child… look. It is not something like some artefacts. It is-"

"I am answering the truth, Sir Priest."

The priest looked at Lucas's eyes and he instantly knew that the child was not lying. He was really telling the truth.

"Then, what kind of book was it?"

"For that, I'm afraid I could not tell a lot. It was just simply a record."

'It's not like I can tell him it is a novel, right? Or something that tells the future.'

Lucas believed that it was the best possible answer because the rest of the answers would shock the priest a lot more.

'Record? What kind of record is that…? Unless it is…'

The blessing of Lucian. It was named for some sort of letter or a book that Lucian would use to give guidelines to the people in need but it was not simply a thing that the god gave out easily.

Unless the child in front of him was a saint chosen by Lucian to convey his messages just like the bloodline of his family. Or someone of pure personality soul which would even make the god willing to help.

Or he could even be…

"Can you give me your hand, please?"

The priest didn't want to think more and needed to check the aura of the child and his mana situation. He didn't want to delay even a second.

Lucas didn't hesitate to give out his hand and when the priest held his hand, he felt a warm mana circling him. Lucas wondered why the priest was eager to have an analysis on his mana flow but then his question piled up more when he saw the shocked expression of the priest. He noticed the sea green eyes which were looking at him with astonishment but then the eyes were transformed into warm ones instantly.

"May I know why you need the Book of Knowledge."

The cold atmosphere that was once in the room disappeared and Lucas wondered why the priest sounded so willingly or accepting to Lucas but he decided that he would pursue the important matters first.

"Sir. Priest, actually, it might be a really unbelievable fact but in the Evandall territory, there is the demon curse spreading among the people. Currently, the situation is not that bad but if we don't control it now, it is going to be a national disaster. And I need the book for it."

"I know about what is happening in Evandall."

It was an information that only a few people knew of and it was also something that made the priest get a headache while thinking what he had to do next. A curse which had no cure and a curse which could destroy a kingdom. And the priest knew that Lucas would definitely want to find the cure since it was his family's territory but he couldn't figure out how Lucas knew the Book of Knowledge or how he related the curse and the book. Or why the god guided him to find the Book of Knowledge.

"But why do you need a Book of Knowledge for it? It doesn't even contain the cure."

Lucas was glad that he didn't have to explain for more and could jump down to the conclusion immediately.

"What I need is not the cure."

Lucas already figured out the cure. So he didn't need it. What he needed was something else.

"I would like to summon a familiar, Sir. Priest."

Lucas's words had made the priest to widen his eyes again.

"Child… it is not something that you can just chant some spells and summon."

"I know, Sir. I know that summoning a spirit is really dangerous and even life threatening."

"Then, you should know that you, who is not even an adult, shouldn't try this, right?"

"But I need to do it. Since there is already no other way. And Sir. Priest."

Lucas looked straight at the priest's eyes with an unwavering decision.

"You also don't want the kingdom to be destroyed, right?"

It made the priest stunned again.

"That's why. Let me try. If I don't meet the first requirement, then I will back off."

'He even knew the process of summoning one?' The priest made a long sigh as he didn't know what to say. And if it was Lucian's decision to let the child before him summon a familiar, he didn't have any right to refuse even if he didn't know what the god would be thinking.

And the priest made a long sigh again.

"Alright. I will accept your request."

Lucas was delighted that the priest finally accepted his request. He didn't know what made the priest give in easily but at least it was good news for him.

"Thank you so much, Sir Priest!"

Lucas was really thankful. Now his first obstacle had been cleared. But the next words of the priest made him drown in awe.

"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself because of the situation. I am Rajia Housland, one of the five cardinals of the Rudia Kingdom."

The reason why Lucas became speechless was neither because of Rajia's rank nor his forgetfulness to introduce to each other properly.

"Hmm, Sir… I mean, Cardinal Rajia… Are you perhaps related to the knight, Brook Housland?"

"Of course, I am the older brother of your instructor."

Rajia was smiling but Lucas was not. He just couldn't believe how these completely opposite people could possibly be related to each other.
