Alexios (1)

Lucas didn't want to forgive the cat who left him alone in a dire situation. Not only the winnings of Carl and Tus, he also had to deal with Eura who had a good sense of smell, given the fact that she was from the bear tribe. Lucas tried to cover himself but the smell of his blood exposed him as soon as Eura saw him.

"Alexios, are you here?"

The white cat appeared again as the waves of smoke gathered together, founding the body, in the surrounding where Lucas was alone in his room.

"Is the situation over?" Alexios asked as he was satisfied that they were finally in a quiet atmosphere.

"As you see. Thank you for leaving me alone."

"I didn't leave you alone. If I am there, that priest would not even be able to talk."

Lucas decided to not have a talking match with Alexios since it was not his priority. Summoning a spirit was just a step he took. And he would just let Alexios be since the spirit had accepted his request. It was not like Lucas was an ungrateful person.

"By the way, Alexios, can I use your healing power now?"

"Of course. But I would recommend you not to overuse it because your body is still adapting to the new mana."

"But that's still mean, I can try using it, right?"

"Yes. And if you use healing, there will be my symbol, appearing on your left hand….. Better to see it then explain. I will just explain when you use it practically…. Hey, what are you doing?"

A confused look was struck to Alexios's eyes when Lucas suddenly went to his desk straight away and looked for something.

"For practical usage."

Answering Alexios's question shorting, Lucas held a paper knife which he used to open up the letters and cut the palm of his left hand diagonally. He did it as fast as he could without thinking, not wanting to hesitate just because he was afraid of pain, instantly using the healing magic when he felt a sharp burning sensation.

Alexio just got a sense of realization on how this kid in front of him was not similar to the normal children from the start he had met. But he just simply noted it from the fact that Lucas's soul was not from this world, thinking that it was possible that Lucas was really old back there.

He didn't have to think a lot as he heard Lucas's exclamation.

"It is really fast…."

Lucas murmured unconsciously, being surprised that his injury healed so quickly that his cut disappeared in a second as soon as he used the magic. It didn't leave any scar even though he cut it so deep.

He could also see a small cycle on his right hand in which there was a complicated emblem which was overall similar to a crescent moon.

"See? This is my symbol."

The white cat jumped on the table as he informed Lucas, meeting Lucas's eyes.

"Currently, your soul mana has the support of mine which means that you can use the healing magic which is even greater than the 7th cycle ones. You can even bring back the people on the verge of dying and something like a demon's curse is just a simple matter for you to heal up."

Lucas nodded, listening to Alexios quietly. He didn't expect Alexios to explain properly but the reality was better than he thought. And he was also glad that he had so many advantages just by summoning one spirit.

"But that doesn't mean that you don't have limits."

Alexios said quickly as he thought that if he didn't explain properly, that kid in front of him was going to do as he wanted and use all magic mindlessly making himself die. It would be shameful for him if he let a kid who contracted with him die even though he was a guardian of healing.

"Every spirit has limits. And mana is also important for us. Of course, we don't want to disappear from the world just because our contractor brainlessly used up all of our mana. So we also reserve mana for ourselves."

"Then the symbol is my limit?"

"Correct. I am glad that you are not that brainless."

Lucas didn't really enjoy listening to how the cat talked. But he just simply accepted, reminding himself of the fact that Alexios was helping him.

"Normally the symbol doesn't appear when you don't use the healing magic. But if it disappears when using the magic, it means that you are on your own again. And since you are also using a part of your mana even though you have the support of mind, I would recommend you to stop healing once the symbol disappears if you don't want to die."

'Wow… I have to make sure that I check the symbol…'

Lucas didn't want to die. He was striving so that both his family and he,himself, would not die so if he died early, it would be meaningless.

"Got it. Thank you Alexios."

He got no reply from Alexios and just watched him get off from the desk as he went straight to the bed and prepared to sleep. It somehow reminded him of the cat he had in his past life, making him unconsciously smile.

Lucas had already done with the letter and told the butler to send it to his father immediately. He also wrote one to Ryosuke, containing what was happening in Evandall and telling him that he was completely ok.

Doing every preparation that he could, Lucas was still sitting by the desk until he heard a growl from the cat on the bed. Alexios didn't feel that comfortable seeing a kid working up to late midnight as he still had a kid's body no matter how old his soul was.

"Hey kid, are you not sleeping, yet?"

"Ah, I am coming."

Laying down beside Alexios, Lucas could feel that the spirit in the cat's form also cuddled on his arm. It made him even wonder if Alexios got the habits of the cat as well.

"Alexios…?"

"What?"

"Why are you in the form of a cat?"

"Because taking a human shape takes more energy."

"Then why a cat?"

Lucas was informed from the novel that spirits were prideful beings. If he wanted to take the form of an animal, he thought that he would take a more gracious looking being, like an eagle or a lion, not a cute persian cat.

Not that he disliked that because Lucas loved cats and Persian cats were one of his favourites.

"Why are you still not sleeping, kid!? Go to sleep."

Lucas cracked a smile when he got a grumpy voice as an answer.

"Don't call me kid….."

"Did you ever introduce your name to me?"

"Eh…."

A sudden realization struck in as Lucas remembered. He was too occupied with other thoughts and was rushing things which made him forget to even introduce himself.

"But don't you already know my name, though? Since you are by my side all day."

"I won't call it unless you introduce it yourself."

Lucas cracked a laugh hearing the grumpy voice of the cat. He was glad that he could have a normal conversation with the spirit although Alexios could sometimes be blunt with answers.

"Lucas Evandall. That's my name."

"Good. Now kid, go sleep."

Lucas was speechless to answer but he decided not to complain anymore since he also knew that he had a lot to do tomorrow. But to his surprise, Alexios started to talk again despite the fact that he was the one who just told Lucas to go to sleep.

"When are you planning to cure the curse?"

"Tomorrow. I will head back to Evandall tomorrow and will immediately go to Sansa after meeting my father. Ah, right. If you wake up early, wake me up too. The faster the better."

This time it was time for Alexios to become speechless.

'Didn't I just say that his body is still adapting to new mana?'

Alexios couldn't help but question to himself.

***

Lucas yawned secretly.

Following him was Tus and Eura who each had a frowning look respectively as if they had given up everything. Lucas left the capital without Carl knowing though because if he knew he was worried that the loyal knight would report everything back to his father.

He had no choice but to inform Tus and Eura since they were by his side 24 hours long. Even though he had to persuade them a lot, with the help of Alexios telling that it was not dangerous as long as Lucas checked the symbol, they finally gave up.

Lucas headed straight to his father's office as soon as they had arrived at the mansion. Because of the teleportation magic, they were back to Evandall in the morning.

He could see that the mansion was busy as usual and there were some distressed looks on the faces of servants even though they tried hard to cover it up in front of Lucas but it was obvious that they had more or less known of the current situations.

Lucas was led by Anton, the butler of Cassius, to his father's office. He could see that his father was waiting for his arrival.

"Take a seat Lucas."

Lucas instantly took a seat, facing his father. Cassius also realized that his youngest son wanted to go straight to the business and so he decided to skip the formalities.

"What do you mean by finding the cure?"

Cassius asked, waiting for his son's answer, ensuring himself that it involved something dangerous for Lucas to do, he would find another answer.

"Before that, Father, I have something to inform you."

Lucas continued as a white cat appeared like usual on the lap of Lucas, gaining confused looks from the Duke who didn't know what it was.

"Actually, I have summoned a spirit."

Cassius was speechless. He didn't know what to talk.

"And he could help me to cure the curse."

The white furry cat was looking at him with deep green eyes.

For Cassius, it was truly stunning information similar to when he got the news of the demon's curse.
