10 Prize

My luck was terrible.

It had been 2 months since I met Looker, and since then I've been doing great, spending two months just stealing, eating, training, and earning more money from fighting.

All was well; let's say it was a perfect life.

Everything changed with the arrival of a certain individual,

The 'Hacker' Erick.

"And you say we will participate in a robbery?" Corvus said while eating his meat.

"Yes, near Pewter City, there is a very rich individual there; we will rob a train, or so I have heard."

It turns out that some idiots reported that the 'billionaire Reaven' would be traveling on the 'bullet train' in a week.

And it occurred to the higher-ups at Team Rocket that our team was suited for the job.

"And that's bad? You're a kleptomaniac, in case you don't know."

Was I a kleptomaniac? The truth is that, why lie? Of my 40,600 pesos, I had not yet spent practically anything; only what was necessary to pay the mortgage. I stole the rest.

"But it's not the same; this job is dangerous; we will have to plan strategies."

"We'll be fine," Konrad said lethargically, lying on the couch. "We've won the competition—29 wins, 0 losses."

As the puppet said, I won the competition by defeating almost all my opponents; there was only one left, and the match was today.

Julius, the Gastly coach, would be third.

Jackson and his crew would be fourth.

And Garfield, the energetic Poochyena boy, now a powerful (by my current standards) Mightyena, also had not lost any fights, so we would fight for first place today.

Ledger, my friend with an evolved Golbat, came in 7th.

And Alex, with his Gligar, was currently in 26th place, among the last.

"Anyway, let's go to the base."

Before entering, I saw Ledger and his companions, Hector and Jack.

"But he is our colleague," Ledger said.

In reality, I knew they were brownnosers; I remember they didn't act like that when I was a jerk, so I took advantage of his attitude towards me.

"Hey guys, how are you?"

"Alright, let's go in; I'm tired of losing money gambling," Hector said.

"Yeah, man, no luck today," Jack seconded.

As we entered the elevator that leads to the base, I started talking.

"What do you think of the heist?"

"It's what we live for."

"It's my chance to stand out."

"I am anxious."

"You know it's dangerous, right? They can hire guards with powerful Pokémon like Arcanines there."

I read somewhere that Arcanines and their pre-evolution are typical in areas that need security.

"These are the risks that come with being on the Rocket team; we won't be rank and file recruits forever." Hector gave me an ultimatum.

"Hey, you're impatient," I told them, "but the truth is that I'm excited too." I lied to make myself look good; being a mole was difficult.

Chatting with my classmates, we arrived at the classroom, and soon it would officially be the planning room for the robbery.

"Here you are; I was waiting for you, Mello, Garfield." Marcus greeted me, "You will start the fights."

The leader showed us some candies.

"This is the prize."

"These are?"

"Weird candy," I murmured.

"I see you have heard of them; it is a powerful food that increases the strength of a Pokémon. Take five of these and give them to your Pokémon."

That looked like drugs.

So it occurred to me to review the analyses.

Rare candies, powerful drugs full of pure aura that strengthen the strength of Pokémon, have adverse effects if you take a large amount (6–10 candies is what a Pokémon usually endures), but they have no effects on humans.

So they have no adverse effects until the sixth or tenth, mmm.

I guess I'll distribute them among my colleagues.

Garfield, full of energy, shouted, "Very good. I will show everyone that I am the strongest. Let's get started now, leader!"

Garfield released his intimidating Mightyena; did the Intimidate ability work like that?

"Time to hunt," the Pokémon growled at me in the same energetic way as his trainer.

"Pokémon are not to be released until I allow it!" Marcus scolded.

If Garfield was embarrassed, he didn't show it.

"Sorry, teacher, I'm just excited about the rare candies, that's all."

"Well, I want to start the battle too," I replied.

I will use Corvus; the disadvantage of the Ghost type to the Dark one was too much for Konrad, especially because of the worrying data he saw in the system.

Mightyena LVL 24

Moves: Sand Attack, Crush, Roar, Low Kick, Body Slam, Shadow Ball, Takedown, Embargo.

Ability: Intimidate

My Shuppet is currently level 26! He's only gone up one level in two months!

You definitely have to increase the hours of training.

Anyway, even with Intimidate, Corvus' attack is very low.

That is solved when Corvus learns Foul Play (damage is based on the opponent's attack level), but at the moment he doesn't have it, so he will have to rely on status moves again.

"Go Corvus."

My Murkrow came out of the Pokéball quickly.

Murkrow LVL 23

Gender: Male

Moves: Pluck, Pursuit, Wing Attack, Toxic, Thunder Wave.

Ability: Prankster

I didn't reveal to anyone that my Murkrow has Thunder Wave, so that will be my ace up my sleeve.

"Begin."

"Pluck."

Of course it wasn't Pluck; Pluck was a very weak attack with just 35 damage; I wouldn't command that move.

No, Pluck was just a code word for another move.

"Wow."

"Did you see that?"

"Of course, you idiot, he has invaded a quarter of the field."

What he actually used was Thunder Wave. Corvus summoned a large electrical storm, which covered a large amount of ground.

"Mightyena, are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

"Use Shadow Ball."

But he did not.

Mightyena is paralyzed; he can't move!

"Do the same with Toxic."

Again, a storm of toxic smoke invaded a tenth of the field, right where Mightyena was.

"!!" Garfield was helpless when he saw the terrifying ability of my Pokémon.

Prankster was an unfair ability in this world as well.

I would say that it is even more unfair because here you can burn, freeze, paralyze, and poison a Pokémon at the same time.

That is, what Mightyena is currently paralyzed and poisoned with.

"You can give up; you know the strategy; I'm not going down."

Garfield ignored me.

"Shadow Ball, Mightyena, you still can."

Corvus dodged the Shadow Ball with ease.

The same actions were repeated twenty more times until Mightyena ended up on the floor.

"The winner of the competition is Mello Snow."

"Mello here, boy," they gave me the five rare candies.

5 levels, I wonder what level these men's Pokémon are at.

I think I'll give them all to Shuppet so that he can evolve into Banette quickly.

Or I'll share them among the team; I really don't know.

Normally, I would smile, but I know what's coming now.

The hit.

"Well, now that everything is over, I present to you Erick, the hacker who reported the location of the target."

He was a red-headed, freckled boy.

"Hello, I'm Erick Lancer; it's a pleasure to see your battles. I was the one who discovered Reaven's location; take care of me," the red-haired boy bowed.

"This boy may look young, but he is a captain like me, so treat him with respect."

That! At his age?!

Well, in this world, you can start your journey at 14 years old, but it's one thing to start it and another to be an elite trainer. That child must have a lot of talent.

"He is a kid!" Someone in the back row echoed my thoughts. Thank you.

"I'm young, but I can kick your ass any time of the week," Erick said with a smile.

"As we were saying, Erick is a trainer with six strong Pokémon; if I were you, I wouldn't upset him," Marcus spoke.

Erick stood proud before the presentation, and I saw some in a state of shock.

For my part, I was tired of meeting OC's.

"Okay, now let's get to the plan." Erick smiled.

The plan was a detailed map with the identities of all the passengers, including the billionaire Reaven.

The tycoon had two guards.

who had won several Kanto contests, so they had Marcus and Erick, or so they said. They didn't inform me of the equipment they had, much to my displeasure.

Erick would face the guards.

Marcus would stop the train.

We would serve as surveillance and rob the wealthy passengers.

Anyway, my mission was to board the luxury train and 'kindly' persuade people to make a donation to us.

Plus, I had to worry about what the league would do because I'm a mole and I have the microphone on; they'll know about the heist.

Will they get involved?

Looker told me that they would not take drastic measures, so I doubt they will intervene.

Whatever happens, I have no choice but to be there.

I released Konrad and Corvus from their Pokéballs.

"You called me?" The Ghost smiled at me.

"That's right," I said, taking out the candies while activating analysis.

Shuppet LVL 26

Corvus LVL 24

It's time to choose who to give the rare candies to.
