1 Chapter 1 The trashy webtoon

"Hey, what are you doing?" Way stared at his sister who was cuddled up on the couch.

"Don't bother me," she yelled in return.

"Are you still writing that trashy webtoon? Aaah, jeez get over it it's been two years now how many readers have you got? Just mom and I, but you still won't give up on it," Way lamented.

"Here you go again, can't you just shut up? Who knows maybe it will soon be famous," She turned to him feeling a bit frustrated.

"Anyone who will love it will be a fool trust me," Way chuckled.

"Enough with the bickering you two, you guys are already too old for that," Way and Wave's mother suddenly appeared.

Wayne and Waverly were twenty-three-year-old graduates. One had a dream of one day becoming a famous cartoonist and showcasing her works but dreams were just dreams. All she had now was just a trashy webtoon that no one paid attention to. While Wayne which was short form for Way was just a typical normal student doctor with no achievements of his own.

"Aren't you going to work today?" Their mother spoke up once again.

"No, I just got back from my night shift I'm going to bed, I'm so tired," Way yawned softly as he walked away.

"Are you okay Wave? Tell me what's bothering you?" Wave's mother walked towards her and then sat beside her. She watched as Wave was drawn into her own world and was in deep thinking.

"Are you okay?" She asked once more.

"Yeah, I'm fine mum don't worry," Wave replied absentmindedly.

"Something is bothering you, right? You can talk to me," her mother said softly. Wave silently stared at her mother and couldn't help but feel a bit useless. Wave and Way were abandoned by their father at a young age and have been living with their mother ever since. Despite being a single parent, they never lacked anything as their mother had to do a lot of part-time jobs to keep them in school and healthy.

She stared back at the tablet in front of her and couldn't help but sigh heavily. She finally wanted to let go of her so-called dream and get a life like everyone else.

"Is it about your webtoon?" Her mother broke the silence and then held Wave's soft palms. She already knew what was going on but still wanted to hear it from her.

"I want to drop it, I want to officially end the story," Wave finally spoke after mustering up the courage. It was the right thing to do. It was time for her to let everything go as maybe it wasn't meant for her.

"Why? I thought you loved being a cartoonist?" Her mother replied. She didn't care whether Wave's webtoon was trashy or it didn't pick the reader's interest all she wanted was to see her children happy. She wanted them to do what they liked as long as it made them happy.

"I want to get a normal job and earn money like others, I want to live a normal life go to work, earn money like Way," Wave sighed. It wasn't easy to let go of her long childhood dream but she had to. It was better that way at least for her.

"But you are not Way so you can't compare yourself to him, you don't have to force yourself to something you don't like," her mother said.

"Mum, I've already made up my mind," Wave replied softly.

"Fine, if that's what you want I'll always support you, I'll go make breakfast now," she stood up after a while and then walked away leaving Wave still contemplating on the matter.

After a few hours, Wave finally ended her webtoon in a sad ending killing the male lead. The moment she wrote the ending, she switched off her tablet and then placed it inside a box, and after wrapping everything up, she sighed heavily. This was the end of it. She had mixed feelings about it as it was the only thing she had done for the past three years. Failure that was what she knew. After a few seconds, she locked the room which had been converted to her work area, and then walked out.

Having studied graphic design, she didn't know where to start as her major was basically improving her drawings and art.

She took out her phone and then searched for any job vacancies her main purpose was to get money and possibly live through normally.

"Are you going out?" Her mother asked after a while.

"Yeah, I'll be back before dinner time," Wave replied before walking away. This was going to be the start of her new life, she thought. All she ever did was focus on writing her webtoon story. Her story wasn't typically the normal romance story with a happy ending she was just but someone who enjoyed thrillers. It was one of the reasons why her webtoon didn't succeed.

Most successful cartoonists wrote about romance but all she ever drew was a thriller comic but she wasn't going back there anymore.

She sighed heavily as she shut the door not knowing where to start but what she knew, she had to gather herself up anyway.
