At long last...

I shuddered to see the mirror near the shopkeeper. I guess hours of gazing at it does that to you.

I waited for the shopkeeper to finish scanning my clothes. "That would be 20,000 deviyen, please," the shopkeeper said. Upon hearing the amount, I blinked.

...I was not that surprised, but that's a lot of money.

Sigh

I don't want to waste effort of Gyari. Hey, at least I have three pairs of clothes now...Hurray?

"Here." I opened my devi-purse and paid the money. Heartache.

"Thank you." Taking the large bag from the shopkeeper, I waited.

Gyari being Gyari, ran off to buy herself some clothes as I was busy waiting in line. Well, not that she did not invite me, but I can't handle another round of shopping.

Well, speaking of Gyari, I kinda liked the company of the girl. She was a little arrogant and overbearing, but she was also pleasant to spend time with.

I would have been hesitant to pick so many clothes even to try them on my own. However, the word "embarrassment" didn't seem to be in her dictionary. I started coughing when she used her hips to push another girl aside while taking the last article of clothes she wanted to try. I grinned at that yes.

As I was thinking, my eyes caught on a bracelet that was being showcased at the front desk. Maybe I should get a present for Gyari.

I imagined the hyperactive girl who was always engrossed in competing with me... Yeah, let's get her a present.

...

Gyari soon came with a bundle of clothes in her arm. Contrary to my expectations, Gyari did not take a long amount of time. Finishing her shopping in under an hour.

Gyari smiled at me and then put her bundles of clothes on the counter.

The shopkeeper quickly scanned all the clothes and said, "Miss, your total comes to 150,000 deviyen. Would you like to use a card or cash?"

What the hell? That's more than my entire net worth.

"Okay. I would like to use the card. Also, deliver both of our clothes to the Devimuse agency. You can also deduct the delivery charge." Gyari took out a black card with silver linings and swiped the card with nonchalant ease like my entire net worth was nothing to her...which it probably was.

What's this pain I feel in my heart?

After the amount was paid, the shopkeeper said with a pleasant smile, "Sure. The delivery will be made within an hour. Please devi-visit us again."

"Let's go, shall we?" Gyari smiled beamingly as if she had not undermined my entire existence.

...

We had started shopping around noon and now it was almost evening. Truly, shopping was a chore...

*Sigh*

I sighed as I suddenly remembered something.

"Oh yeah!" I took out the present I had brought for Gyari.

Gyari looked at me puzzled as I gave her a small white box.

"This is?" Gyari suddenly stopped and asked surprised.

"A present," I spoke simply while holding a cup of juice in my hand.

Gyari opened the box to reveal a simple golden hand chain bracelet with a small broken tag hanging on it. "Part, I, Cri..." The blonde spoke aloud the text written on the tag.

I smirked seeing the blonde-haired girl giving me a look.

"And it needs this." I lifted my hoodie sleeve to show another identical golden chain bracelet. I brought my hand next to the other bracelet making the two tags come together.

[Partners in Crime.] It was quite eye catchy and seemed like a good enough gift.

"You don't have to wear it, but I want you to have it, okay?" I tilted my head seeing the girl hold the bracelet close to her eyes. As if she wanted to burn it into her memories.

"I like it...Thank you, Nyx." Gyari seemed to be a little out of character today. Not that I mind. I took another sip of the juice. I'm glad she liked it.

I was never good at selecting presents. So many thoughts put into a perfect present that others will probably not even like...sad.

"I'm gla..." I was stopped mid-sentence as I was suddenly pulled into a hug. Thankfully, I had managed to not spill the juice due to my reflexes but...

"Umm...Gyari?" I said as I felt the sound of heavy breathing near my ears.

"Eep" I will forever deny that I made the sound as I felt someone squeeze my butt.

"Gyari! Why you...so this was your goal?" The blonde-haired girl quickly let go of me and said with a grin.

"Yeah. Next time, don't be so easily lured Nyx." Gyari said, her yellow eyes meeting my jet black with some kind of strange intensity on them before pulling back.

Must be my imagination...

"I won't. So rest assured. Now let's head back, shall we?" I say with a grin of my own.

"Hm." Gyari was strangely quiet.

I felt the corner of my mouth lifting as the blonde seemed to be playing with the bracelet on her wrist unconsciously.

...

..

.

At least, it seems she didn't hate it. Maybe I should buy more gifts for people in the future.
