5 Freedom 1.5

"I want no more people," I mumbled as I fell headfirst into the pillow.

The adrenaline had finally worn off as I reviewed what had happened today.

First, waking up in a new world with a threat, becoming a different person altogether, performing a song, signing a contract, and meeting a canon character.

It was a hectic day with lots of twists, but finally, it was all over.

My life had suddenly changed.

I wondered who was the one who transmigrated me. Was it a ROB or some kind of system?

Sigh

It didn't matter for now. My main goal was still to become Rank 10, Yodh.

I wanted to be free from the threat of eradication. And as a certain black-haired titan-morphing man said for freedom...Tatakae.

And the best way to accomplish this was by going to school.

Yes, school. This was the Netherworld, or in other words, Hell. The existence of an institute such as the dreaded [School] should not come as a surprise to anyone.

Moreover, the manga Mairimashita Iruma Kun was partially a slice-of-life school manga. Just on steroids. Though the manga made it seem like a fun and happy place, there were mortal dangers all over the place in the form of vicious beasts to goliath-eating plants.

So, my plan was as simple as they come. Join the Babyls Demon school at the same time as the canon happened. Use the knowledge of the manga to climb up the ranks quickly; For that, I needed to become strong and versatile.

Both money and connections would be required if I wanted to join the school and excel at it. According to short flashbacks in the manga, I think around a year is still left before the canon starts, so I need to start preparing now.

And the first step to that is bringing my luggage from the hotel.

...

The evening breeze blew across the ground, causing the newspapers that had dropped to the ground to flutter to the corner of the street. In the distance, there was a faint noise, as if some drunkard was making a ruckus.

Last time, I was in a hurry and didn't pay much attention to the demons around me, but now I could see that demons really came in different shapes and sizes. Some of them looked human-like, while others looked like lizards.

Although I knew from the manga that demons came in different shapes and sizes, it was still quite amazing to see a walking, talking triangle with a single eye.

Soon, I reached my hotel, which seemed to be named Devitel...truly everything had Devi in it.

I went to my room and packed my luggage, which only consisted of a few clothes - four hoodies, to be exact.

Hey! I mean, hoodies are great, but the previous Nyx only had hoodies and pants...

Anyway, I realized that I was referring to the previous owner of the body as the "previous Nyx," but in reality, she was the true Nyx.

"I'm Nyx no more, but at the same time, I have gone even further beyond," I said, raising my hand in the empty room.

...Great, now I feel stupid.

Anyway, I left the room after packing my luggage.

...

-General POV-

Nyx spun around in perfect synchronization with the pulsing rhythm of the music. She moved with a fluid grace that made it seem as though she had been dancing for years. Each step was executed with precision, her body flowing from one movement to the next without any hint of hesitation.

Even the simplest dance moves became something more when she did it. With pinpoint precision came absolute grace, and Nyx's perfect posture was the embodiment of that. Her shoulders were back, her chin held high, and her gaze focused with intensity. It was clear that she had trained tirelessly to get to this point, and her hard work had paid off in spades.

It was as if she was channeling the music through her body, transforming it into a mesmerizing display of skill and artistry.

Clap

"Excellent, Nyx-chan. Truly flawless dancing." Meri applauded with enthusiasm. She was not even exaggerating. Nyx-chan may be the best talent they have acquired to date. With the singing lessons they have drilled into her, it was evident that Nyx was a genius.

A phenomenal genius.

Her voice was like silk, effortlessly bringing out the true meaning of each song she sang. Even her dancing skills which were practically nonexistent at the start became polished to a point that few would ever compare.

"Well, I had a good teacher," Nyx said with a modest smile as she wiped the sweat from her brow.

Meri's smile grew wider. "It's rare to find such a polite demon these days," she said, her tone tinged with amusement. Though Meri could go on and on about the enrapturing points of Nyx, she cleared her throat and got down to business.

"Your debut date has been decided. It's going to be one week from now at the Makubari Dome," Meri announced, her expression bright with excitement.

"Makubari Dome? How? Don't only popular artists get to perform there?" Nyx asked, her bewilderment clear in her voice. Even if she is promising, she thought her debut would be in a smaller dome. After all, performing in Makubari Dome is a big opportunity and it just seems to fall in her lap.

"Heh," Meri said, a proud smile on her face as she pushed her glasses up making them shine in the light. "Usually, yes. But this time, one of the Evidol performers went into her Evil cycle, so I suggested you as a replacement."

"Really? Thank you, Mrs. Meri. But won't this have caused you trouble?" Nyx asked, grateful but also she couldn't help but think that her manager seems to be some kind of bigshot.

"It was just a matter of pulling some strings. So, do your devi-best in the debut," Meri said, waving off Nyx's concern with a dismissive flick of her hands as if it was trivial, and turned to leave without looking back.

...

..

.

And Nyx?... For the first time, she felt that her manager seemed quite dashing.
