The Wilderness (3)

When Ronald first noticed that someone had been secretly watching him, he was worried that one of the supporting characters or one of the heroines from the plot had caught him red-handed.

However, the person who had revealed herself was someone he had never seen before...

And she seemed to be much stronger than Ye Fan?

Ronald didn't understand how someone this strong had suddenly appeared this early on in the story.

But after thinking about it for a few seconds, Ronald just assumed that the person he had encountered just now was just one of the heroine's friend who wasn't important to any of the plots whatsoever, so he decided to just continue on with his original plan.

"Don't make me ask you again, who the hel-" Before Ronald could finish his sentence, he was suddenly interrupted.

"Don't talk to me you lowlife scum!" The woman retorted back at Ronald and then turned her head to face the Princess.

"Princess Sophia! Are you alright? Did this scumbag do anything weird to you? Don't worry, I'm here to save you!" The woman asked the Princess with a concerned voice.

She had considered Princess Sophia to be her best friend ever since they've first met during their childhoods, so the moment she heard that her very own best friend had gotten kidnapped, she immediately contacted the Queen of the Leighton family in order to locate Princess Sophia and rush to her aid.

"Don't worry about me Sylvia! I suggest you should just forget about me and run away, this guy is extremely strong!" Even though Princess Sophia was glad that her best friend had showed up in order to save her, she was afraid that something bad might happen to Sylvia.

Although Princess Sophia knew that Sylvia was extremely strong, she was worried that Sylvia might end up suffering the same fate as Ye Fan back at the abandoned factory.

"Thank you for your concerns, but don't worry about me." Sylvia knew that her best friend was concerned about her getting injured and reassured her that everything was going to be okay.

Even though she considered Princess Sophia to be her best friend, she still kept a huge secret from her.

So what was the secret that Sylvia had been hiding throughout her entire life?

The secret was that she was a cultivator.

So despite the fact that her best friend was worried that she was going to get injured, Sylvia was absolutely confident that she could easily subdue the kidnapper and rescue her best friend easily.

"Let go of my best friend now." Sylvia pointed her glowing red sword at Ronald and gave him a warning.

Even though she was confident that she could kill Ronald at any time, she didn't want her best friend to witness the death of a human being infront of her very own eyes.

Since her best friend was the Princess of the Leighton family, Sylvia knew that her best friend had been pampered throughout her entire lifetime and rarely saw the dark side of human nature until now.

"And what if I don't? Do you think your red glowing sword is going to intimidate anyone here?" Ronald smirked and said in a mocking voice.

"Then don't say that I didn't warn you." Sylvia then instantly closed the gap between them and then threw in a punch directly at Ronald's chest.

However, to her surprise, the kidnapper completely caught her fist right before she could hit him.

"Why did you even bring a sword to begin with when all you were going to do was try and punch me instead?" Ronald looked directly into Sylvia's eyes and said menacingly.

"..." Although Sylvia didn't say anything, she was absolutely shocked by the fact that Ronald had somehow managed to catch her hand despite her going at full speed.

At first, she thought that the person who had kidnapped her best friend was someone who was extremely weak and thought that the reason why the kidnapper knew that someone was secretly watching him was because he noticed the sword glowing in the dark.

But now, she realized that clearly wasn't the case and most likely the person who kidnapped her best friend was actually a cultivator who hid very deeply.

So in an attempt to quickly turn things around, she quickly tried to use her sword to slash Ronald's head off.

But Ronald used his other hand to directly catch and firmly gripped onto the blade of the sword right before it managed to reach his neck.

"H-how?" Sylvia was absolutely shocked by the fact that Ronald had managed to hold onto the sharp ends of the sword without even being harmed by it.

Although she didn't know about the origins of this sword, from what her sect master had told her, it had the ability to easily obliterate most of the early stage cultivators that even came into contact with it.

"Why are you surprised? Never met someone stronger than you?" Ronald looked down at Sylvia's face and smirked.

Afterwards, Ronald yanked the sword out of Sylvia's hands and quickly used his feet to kick her in the stomach, causing her to get slightly pushed back.

He then quickly threw the sword right infront of Sylvia and then quickly vanished before Sylvia could even react in time.

After coming back to her senses, Sylvia quickly grabbed her sword again and hurriedly looked around for a few seconds to try and find Ronald before realizing that both Ronald and Princess Sophia was absolutely nowhere to be found.

After arriving at a cave right next to the mountain with the Princess, Ronald looked around the cave to make sure that they were at the right place, and then placed the Princess down.

"You're lucky that I didn't plan on killing your friend there." Ronald said to the Princess and then went outside of the cave in order to grab some sticks to make a campfire.

At first, Ronald thought about giving Sylvia a severe beating just like he had done to Ye Fan the day before, but Ronald decided to scratch that idea out of his head and just decided to leave Sylvia alone.

After all, his main purpose for kidnapping Princess Sophia was to just make the heroines see how terrible of a person he was, not to beat up random people for no absolute reason.

The only reason why he had beaten up Ye Fan to begin with was just to get payback for everything he's done to him in the previous life.

"..." Princess Sophia silently looked at Ronald while he started to head outside, and although she was grateful that Ronald decided not to hurt Sylvia, she still couldn't help but think to herself why Ronald, despite the fact that Sylvia had attacked him first, had decided to spare Sylvia's life and even let her go off scratch free.

And not only that, but thinking about it now, not once had Ronald even tried to kill anyone besides the tiger that was about to eat her despite the fact that he was targetted by so many people.

Thinking back to what Ronald had said back at the abandoned factory about being hired to kill Ye Fan and having a grudge against him, with all of the strength and speed that he had displayed so far, couldn't he have easily killed Ye Fan right infront of the cops the moment they appeared?

But yet all he did was just toyed around with the cops for a bit before escaping into the woods.

Although Princess Sophia knew that a lot of strong people loved toying around with opponents that were much weaker than them, she knew that nobody would go through such great lengths trying to hide deep in the forest in order to just to keep their opponents alive for a few more days...

Unless if their original goal was something entirely different...

'If he doesn't want to actually kill Ye Fan, then what could his goal for kidnapping me be?'

'And why did he only repeatedly beat up Ye Fan yet he decided to either knock everyone else unconscious or spare everyone else?'

'Also why doesn't he wear a mask whenever we're alone, isn't he afraid that I'll expose him?'

'Weird, there's definitely something more than what meets the eye...'
