Chapter 9

At a certain tent, an adorable loli lie on the ground. Her eyelids twitched as it slowly opened, revealing two pairs of bright and golden eyes. feeling something weighing down her arms, she looked down and found Esdeath and Najeda holding them.

Her eyes then wandered around the room and found the rest of the girls sleeping near her.

"What the heck…" she muttered in confusion.

As she slowly got up, she began waking the girls up. Her hands moved towards Esdeath's shoulder and began shaking her.

"What's wrong… dear~" Esdeath's lazy voice sounded as she tried to latch on her arm while Najeda slept like a pig.

"Wake up… es-chan…" shiro said. She shook Esdeath until she waked up.

"Wake everyone up… I'll be going out…"

Quickly leaving this sentence, she immediately changed her clothes and left the tent. Esdeath's half-asleep eyes became active again when shiro left.

She looked around the sleeping girls and her mouth curled up in a smile.

"Wake Up!"

Her cold voice immediately woke the girls up, causing them to look at her with dissatisfaction. Since the day shiro hired them, they had a very lazy life, sleeping when they want, eating when they want, obviously being disrupted from their happy dream by this girl would cause some dissatisfaction.

Everyone got up and readied themselves for the day, changing their pajamas to the green military uniform and brushing their teeth, they quickly got up and went outside to find shiro.

Walking around the camp, they quickly found shiro munching on her cookies with Viktoriya. Walking towards them, they heard the short conversation they had.

"Vik-chan… you'll get fat if you eat too much…" shiro said as her eyes stared at the chest of this girl.

"Don't worry, Shiro! I exercise a lot, so I won't get fat!" She showed a smile and a thumbs up as Viktoriya said this.

Shaking her head, Shiro focused on munching her cookie. It's at least much better than teaching Viktoriya the possible benefits of having small assets. Though she won't teach these lessons to the girls because of some inner selfishness.

"Dear~ We're here!" Esdeath walked towards shiro and hugged her.

Behind Esdeath was a group of beauties sitting on nearby chairs or logs.

A man suddenly ran towards them, saying: "You girls! First lieutenant Degurechaff called everyone to gather at the meeting grounds." And quickly left.

Hearing this, they quickly left towards the meeting grounds and stood at their positions as soldiers began lining up in the meeting grounds. They were chattering about some random topics when they suddenly saw a figure of a loli in front of them.

Looking carefully, they found that irritation can be seen in this loli's blue eyes while her dirty blond hair fluttered due to the blowing wind.

"Can't you see me? I've been waiting for you guys to notice me for the past 5 minutes."

A man suddenly came up to the loli and tried to explain to her the situation, having good social skills he tried to flatter her.

"Uhh… Sir loli– Sir! You were too sh– I mean our eyes are too bad to see your sh– majestic figure!"

Seeing the cold eyes of the loli when he was about to say some 'forbidden' stuff, he quickly changed his words and carefully said some statements.

Tanya's eyes relaxed a little bit before continuing where she left off, her face changed from irritation to one that is filled with majesty. Though how you see it is a bit debatable considering the cute loli face she has.

"Better. Now I gathered you guys here because we have a mission, the higher ups want us to completely crush those invading army coming from the south due to several border violations. Understood?"

"Understood Sir!"

Everyone saluted the loli which looked really funny if you see it in person. I mean a cute loli commanding these rough and brutal men? Anyway, everyone readied their operation orbs and magical rifles and began setting off.

A few minutes later, mage battalion flew at an altitude of 8,000 meters above sea level and began heading towards the direction of their target. Most took this seriously and their usual leisure look completely disappeared replace by iron clad toughness.

There are some who didn't really take this seriously, i.e. shiro and her girls. They looked curiously at the clouds as they weren't used to being able to touch the intangible clouds or scientifically, water vapor.

An hour later, Enemy forces appeared in their vision as some surveyed the ground while the other surveyed the sky.

*boom*

The sound barrier broke as the enemy's mage battalion immediately charged towards them while firing artillery shells. The artillery shells are powerful enough to blast a hole through their automatic defense system A.K.A. magic shield.

"Fire!" Tanya shouted.

*bang~* *bang~* *bang~*

Gunshots sounded as many mages fell down one by one due to the skill gap between the two groups. But not everything is perfect, there are some casualties in their group, one or two men died while others have slight injuries.

Mine is the best sniper in Night Raid, not just because she's the only sniper but because she has skills. Using her superb skills, she easily shot down 2 mages in a single shot, her eyes showed pride as she began racking up kills in her kill count.

Although she is technically the weakest of the group but that doesn't mean she is weak at all. The other girls are overpowered, but they can't beat Mine in terms of skills.

Even shiro can't compare to Mine in sniper skills. Though if she and Mine were to compete in a sniping competition then she would 100% win. Her reaction time and eyesight beat Mine several times over.

On the other hand, Esdeath, although physically powerful, is quite bad at using her rifle. Though her physique really helped her snipe some people, but it is about average.

*bang~* *bang~*

"This damn rifle isn't working properly!" Esdeath shouted, her anger reached a boiling point, and she had the urge to just go up and kill the enemy with her fist.

She just missed a couple of shots because the enemy keep dodging it. it just frustrates her on how worthless the rifle is.

"Hehe~ Esdeath, your so bad at using guns." Laughed Najeda.

She aimed at the direction of the foot soldiers without looking at them and fired a couple of shots.

*bang~* *bang~*

Two bullets punched a hole through the head and abdomen of a foot soldier.

"See~ It's quite easy."

As Najeda gloats at Esdeath's incompetence, Sheele watches all this in amusement, like watching a the squabble of two children.

On another side of the battlefield, Tanya held her rifle and fired it at the incoming mages. Her blue eyes shone in brilliance due to using magic.

*bang~*

A bullet immediately shot through the mana shield of the mages, directly going through their head or heart, causing instant death.

Her mouth arched upwards turning to a smile as she killed all the mages going towards her. When the mages tried to surround her, her allies immediately back her up.

*bang~* *bang~* *bang~*

After a while, the enemy mage battalion has been wiped out. Tanya then gave an order to slaughter the remaining army at the ground.

A normal army is no match for a mage battalion. A couple of artillery shells fired will quickly decimate the army. Though some tried to run away but it failed due to the gap in power, moral ethics are shit in war.

After the battle was over, they head back to their camp. Without worrying about mana consumption, they quickly used a lot of it to gain insane speed while some are used to protect them from the high air pressure due to the high speed travel.

When everyone returned back to the camp, they started relaxing. After a big battle, relaxation should be the priority, right?

On the commander's tent, Tanya sat on a chair, leaned her head at her hands as she quietly digested the information given to by the messenger from HQ.

"So you're telling me that headquarters is calling me back? To test some kind of experimental operation orb?"

"Y-Yes… 1st lieutenant Degurechaff!" saluted the man.

"Fine, when do I leave?"

"In an hour, Lieutenant." He said this and left.

Shiro saw all these with interest, her mission could be completed in a while. Turning her head towards the transparent mission screen, she showed excitement.

Rewards: 1 World Travel ticket, +100 Favorability to Tanya Degurechaff, Random Domain (God-level)

Penalty: Stay in this world forever]

Closing her mission tab, she turned towards Viktoriya, a cute yet charming girl with round blue eyes. she looks kinda like an airhead… like maple.

"Viktoriya… would you like to follow Tanya?"

"Is something important happening shiro?" Viktoriya asked, her big blue eyes looked at her in confusion.

In the original plot, she should have close contacts with Tanya but maybe due to some other odd reason they didn't meet like in the original and instead replaced by shiro. Now without any reasons or relationships to follow the blond haired general, she was just confused when asked to follow her.

"You'll see in a bit…" Said shiro.

Her intention in saying it vaguely was to give herself a sense of mystery, but Viktoriya didn't think much of it, her priorities are very different to what shiro thought which is to eat good food.

*munch*

She bit into a cookie as she followed shiro to her camp, though something indescribable might happen but who knows?

(A/N I guess this chapter is really late… The Youjo Senki world maybe a bit short but there isn't much to do there. Being X is really boring and shiro is really overpowered.)
