Journey to the Sect

"We will leave right away." Elder Chen spoke and stood up from her putuan.

This time, she had brought out her granddaughter to hunt down a pill flame and attend the recruitment by the way.

She had planned to watch and then leave with her granddaughter, but now that she had discovered two treasures in Fengying city, she didn't dare to be careless.

The mysterious organisation was still hunting talents and her Sea Cloud sect had lost some good seedlings over the past decade.

It was because she didn't want the two to encounter any accidents that she decided to guard the group until they safely returned to the sect.

"Grandma, why do we have to travel with them?" The granddaughter asked.

She had already acquired the pill flame, and using the flying cauldron, they would arrive at the sect in less than two weeks.

However, that time would double if they matched the pace of the class three demonic beasts used to transport the recruits.

Wen Lan was eager to return to the sect to refine her new pill flame, and she became very impatient when she heard that her grandmother wanted to travel with the rest.

"Travelling and experiencing the world is also a form of cultivation." Chen Qing said and rubbed her granddaughter's head.

Her granddaughter was good in everything, but she was spoiled and impatient.

Wen Lan was incredibly talented, and because of this, she didn't put anybody in her eyes.

This personality would have been fine in the past, but changes were coming.

Already, two blue stars had appeared in the Cangxing world, and Chen Qing worried that this was not the end.

The Sea Cloud sect could protect Wen Lan to a certain extent, but if she offended someone with an equal background, her granddaughter may fall before her time.

As she thought of this, Chen Qing frowned and looked at the two boys who were whispering to each other.

Although they were using a concealing talisman, they couldn't hide their cultivation realm from her eyes.

It was clear that both were only a step away from breaking through to the origin forging realm and that alone showed that they were more talented than her granddaughter.

If she had an opportunity, Chen Qing wanted them under her wing, but that would have to wait until the results of the next assessment.

Yu Nianzhen felt eyes on him, but when he turned to look, he didn't see anyone. His face creased in a frown, but there was nothing to be done.

"We have to be careful during the journey." He spoke.

His face was solemn as he remembered everything he had learned from Bai Zheng.

He didn't know if their convoy would be attacked along the way, but it was better to be careful.

"I know."

Jiang Yue was also very mindful, and he planned to keep an eye out.

Soon after, the forty-seven new recruits were divided into three groups.

Each group would ride on one demonic beast under the protection of one inner sect elder and several outer sect elders.

Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen were standing close together and naturally ended up in the same group under an inner sect elder called Elder Yang.

Elder Yang was a cultivator of the Qi transformation realm. He had a sunny personality, and after introducing himself, he removed a class three demonic beast from an animal breeding bag.

'Chimaera.' Jiang Yue thought as he looked at the creature.

The beast was a cross between a tiger and an eagle.

Its huge body and tail were that of a tiger, but it had an eagle head and wings on its back.

"If we had an animal breeding bag, we could bring our bullock." Yu Nianzhen observed but then sighed in resignation.

Animal breeding bags were space bags that could carry living things except for human beings.

However, such treasures were still out of reach for the two of them.

Even if they had enough spirit stones to buy an animal breeding bag, it made better sense to use them on other things.

In the future, they would need cultivation techniques, martial arts, movement arts, weapons, herbs, pills, and many other things which could only be bought with spirit stones.

"Don't worry." Jiang Yue smiled.

He had a feeling that things would get better now that they had joined a sect.

"Climb up." Elder Yang shouted.

The two and thirteen others jumped on the tiger eagle. They found a good position at the back and settled down.

After everyone climbed on their demonic beasts, the beasts rose in the air and quickly departed from Fengying city.

Time passed quickly, and before they knew it, they had already been flying for more than two weeks.

The demonic beasts could fly for long stretches without needing any rest, but the sect elders usually stopped for at least three hours each day.

In those three hours, the outer sect elders would feed the beasts while the new disciples took the opportunity to relax and eat.

At first, Jiang Yue was excited about flying on the tiger eagle but as the days went by, the novelty faded and all he felt was impatience.

Class three demonic beasts were faster than modern aeroplanes but they didn't have any protective covering.

Although the two had a high cultivation and force value compared to the other recruits, they still suffered from freezing cold and wet winds.

This time was no different.

Jiang Yue was shivering from cold, and his teeth were clenched tightly as he jumped down from the tiger eagle.

His robes were wet from atmospheric moisture, and he removed an extra pair from his sack bag.

Without delay, he dashed behind a bush and changed into the new ones.

When he returned to Yu Nianzhen's side, the other had already lit a fire, and they used it to warm their bodies and dry their clothes.

Luckily, they had listened to Bai Zheng and bought a low-grade silver rank bigu pill and could go for one month without feeling hungry. If not, they would also need to think about food in the short three hours of rest.

As some others started to cook on their fires, Yu Nianzhen and Jiang Yue began to cultivate.

Their efficiency was considerably lower compared to when they were in Fengying city but they had experience in cultivating when travelling.

In the two weeks since they left Fengying city, Yu Nianzhen had connected two meridians while Jiang Yue had managed to connect his fourth meridian and was on the verge of connecting his fifth.

Three hours later, an elder blew a whistle to signal that rest time was over, and they all got back on the demonic beasts.

"Have you noticed that Wang Hui seems to be avoiding us?" Jiang Yue asked after they settled on the beast.

Yu Nianzhen had also noticed it and now that he thought of it, it had started long before they left Fengying city.

When they first met, Wang Hui had made it clear that he had an interest in their master, but nothing ever happened after that.

Yu Nianzhen thought that the other boy had been in seclusion to prepare for joining the sect. However, it had already been two weeks since they left the city, but Wang Hui hadn't approached them even once.

Although they were grateful for the less nuisance, Wang Hui's behaviour was very strange given his personality.

What they didn't know was that Wang Hui had indeed planned to bother them.

He had brought some people from the city lord's residence and waited at the Three Boars inn, but a strange thing had happened.

While they were waiting for the two boys to get out of seclusion, one of the cultivators had found out that the two boys kept a bullock cart in the stables.

Wang Hui wanted to investigate it, and the group had gone to the stable.

However, none of them could have expected that the bullock would suddenly erupt a terrifying aura.

Wang Hui and his cronies were terrified, and when the bullock let up, they escaped in horror.

Although the incident was horrifying, Wang Hui did not give up.

In the end, even the city lord who was a qi transformation realm cultivator had visited the stable and like the rest, he had escaped in terror.

After returning to the city lord's residence, Wang Hui was severely warned, and he no longer dared to have ideas about the two boys.

Even when he saw them during the recruitment, he kept his distance and waited for an opportunity in the future.

"What he does has nothing to do with us." Yu Nianzhen concluded.

The Sea Cloud sect was different from Fengying city. Even though the city lord's residence had a lot of descendants in the sect, those descendants would not act recklessly within the sect.

Jiang Yue nodded in agreement and soon forgot about the matter.
