1 Prologue

Caw…Caw…

Cries of the crow reverberate throughout the battlefield. It was dead silence with only the whistling of the cold wind. Up the sky, the bloody moon cast a dreary light that illuminated the corpses which extended all the way to the mountains and seas.

The crow stood on top of the broken tries and then flew about. It witnessed the devastating lands and different kinds of corpses with its very pupils.

It flew and flew, seizing its environment. At one point, it halted. In front of its eyes was a horrifying scenery; the multitude of corpses had formed a mountain that stretched through the heavens.

Furthermore, the blood of the carcasses had transformed into a river that expanded into the surrounding area.

The crow concentrated. The picture turned crystal clear – on top of the mountain of corpses, a figure actually sat above. That figure seemed to be a man, bare-chested, riddled with open wounds, on his hand, held a spear that emitted a strong force of killing intent.

"A world where mankind no longer exists and only the remains of the demon race. To think a human still exists."

The crow flapped its wings and drifted in front of the man. Pitch-black energies surrounded it and when they dissipated, the crow was no longer there. It was replaced with a woman in purple clothes, a moon-shaped mark on her forehead.

She leaned forward and frowned. "This man is…dead." She approached the man intending to touch him but the spear suddenly gleamed with light. That light gathered to form a force that struck the woman.

She yelp, surprised by the unexpected event. When the condensed light was about to hit her, however, it came to standstill as if a more terrifying force had prevented it to move. She gently waved her sleeve and the light shattered into nothingness.

"I was wrong. Although he's technically dead, his will has yet to dissipate. What a terrifying person, not even someone like him existed in the Three Realms," muttered the woman. "I originally am reminiscing about this dying world I once lived, but it seemed Heaven has different plans. Whoever you are, let me see your story!"

Once she said that her eyes gleamed with a cold light. The next moment, she had experienced a multitude of scenes that belonged to the man. It was his memories.

After a while, the light on her eyes vanished. She sighed. The story of the man before her was an extraordinary one.

Yun Feng was the name of this man, the sole human that fought against the demons. The invasion of the demons has greatly altered the balance of the world. Majority of the mankind had died from the first wave of invasion.

Yun Feng originally had no desire for martial arts, but the death of his loved ones and the existence of demons forced him to tread the path of cultivation.

However, the strength of the demons was simply too overwhelming. Furthermore, they outnumbered humanity to great extent. As a result, the Great War between mankind and fiends ended up with the defeat and annihilation of the human race.

Yun Feng, however, survived the war. He recuperated and practiced until he was strong enough to take on the invaders. As he was alone in this world, he was constantly hunted by the demons, and every day he was on the borderline between life and death.

Eventually, Yun Feng managed to exterminate the demons after a long fraught. Alas, to kill the Lord of the Demons, he has to sacrifice his life. Although Yun Feng had exterminated the demons, he also lost his life in the process.

The world he tried hard to protect was also dying. He also had no one with who he can entrust the legacy of humanity and its tale.

This end was the reason Yun Feng's will remained in the material world. He was dead for three years, but his will has yet to dissipate.

Such willpower was out of this world!

For the first time in a very long time, she did not expect the one who would surprise her was a mortal.

She thought for a moment and then moved toward Yun Feng. Beams of light that came out of the spear tried to attack her repeatedly, but they disappeared every time they came near her. Then she condensed a small ball of light and it directly sealed the spear; it was no longer capable of attacking.

After sealing the weapon, she halted five meters away from him. "Let me awaken your will." She mumbled and stroked the forehead of the man.

A vast unknown power was transmitted over. The originally dead person trembled and light elucidated around its body. Swoosh, the lights were dispelled and formed a spirit floating in the air.

The spirit seized its surrounding. As if it sensed something, it turned its head down and saw a woman in purple clothes. "Why did you summon me?"

"I marvel at what kind of person you are. Now I realized why you're an ominous one," said the woman.

"Is that it?" The spirit mocked. "When the demons descended upon centuries ago, not a single help came from the almighty heavens. Now's everything over, you gods dare to show yourselves?!"

The spirit roared, sending out waves of energy. Alas, it vanished before it touched even the sleeves of the woman. She sighed. "You have the rights to be angered. I know. But, let's say, what if you can start again?"

"I'll flatten the Nether realm and crush the Heaven Realm."

"Hatred blinded your eyes." The woman shook her head. "In that case, I cannot permit you reincarnation."

"I never asked for it. What's the point of living a new lease without them?" The spirit clenched its fist and stared at the sky.

"Do you have any wish?"

"You flipped through my memories. You know what's my greatest desire," said the spirit.

The woman was silent. She of course knew what he was talking about and, after all, she had soul-search him. A moment of silence and then she sighed.

"I'll grant your wish."

The spirit was dumbfounded. "What?!"

"However, in under a condition." The woman said, "Although I'll give you a chance to reincarnate to the time when demons have yet to invade the land, in this lifetime, your memories will turn into nothing but dreams. Are you willing to grasp this chance to change the foregone conclusion?"

The spirit couldn't believe what he was hearing. He wondered if he was dreaming. However, she seemed not kidding, and of course, he felt she was not a simple God. He took a deep breath and clenched his fist. A chance. He was willing to do anything for a chance to make up his regrets.

"I, Yun Feng, am willing!"

"Yun Feng, the Human Emperor, the fate of humanity lies in your hands..."

The woman muttered and waved her hand. An unimaginable power came crashing down. The spirit vanished. The pile of bodies around also disappeared. Heaven and Earth shook. Moon, Sun, and the Stars underwent a transformation.

A massive upheaval occurred for the first time in the Three Realms.
