Chapter 27

When he heard the stranger’s voice, he didn’t recognize it, but he knew what it was. It was an anonymous phone call coming from one of his father’s goons. Most likely with a threat.

“Get out of that trailer!”

“What?” Dezi said.

“Get out! Now!”

“Who is this?”

“Will you quit asking stupid questions and do what I say? Get out of that trailer before…”

Suddenly a big explosion came from somewhere up the way, about the fourth trailer down. Dezi took the receiver away from his ear, dropped it, and ran outside while pulling on his clothes. When he got outside, he saw a big billowing cloud of smoke and flames coming up from one of the trailers. “Oh my God! Someone call the fire department!”

Suddenly he heard some sirens in the distance and found that someone already had. Just then he thought about Rox and ran back into the trailer and yelled out for him. “Rox! Rox!”

Rox made a quick grab at his clothes as he ran into the living room. “What was that sound I heard?”
