Chapter 21
“Hi, Dezi. What’re you doing out here?”
Dezi looked around and saw Rox standing there smiling at him as if nothing had ever happened. “Oh…I’m…just enjoying the night,” he said, his words hesitant and slow as he looked up at Rox, examining his actions closely.
“Yes, it is nice out, isn’t it? I hope your father’s enjoying it.”
A red flag instantly went up. Something was wrong. Dezi could tell. Only a few hours ago, Rox Forrester was lying in his car in a fetal position, crying as if he’d never stop, mumbling words that didn’t make sense, crying tears that strong men like him weren’t supposed to cry. And now, he was acting as if nothing had ever happened.
“Rox,” Dezi said carefully. “What were you doing just now?”
“Oh, nothing. I just woke up, and you weren’t there, so I came out to find you. You know I can’t sleepwithout you.”
“Yeah, I know. So, what did you do today?”
