1 CHAPTER 1

Sage sat in the airplane heavy hearted this was not at all what she planned for summer. How did everything go so wrong? It was really an fair but was the world really fair to anyone?

Tears rolled down her already flushed cheeks, she lost everything…..everything. Now she was sitting here lost and hopeless crying in a public plane.

Next to her sat a man and his daughter, as if fate was playing with her, he smelled like her dad, laughed like him. And every memory flowed back opening an already torn wound.

After the flight that felt like forever, it finally landed in county c. everyone came down the plane to collect their bags.

Sage like the others took her big briefcase and walked out of the airport. She was now going to start a new life. Forced. Life is a bitch. Her phone went off; looking at her phone it was her mom's message,

(Sorry I couldn't make it to the airport… something came up sorry…. I sent a taxi to take you home.)

Home. What home? The house that will make her feel like an outsider??

Great, what did she expect that her mom would be here? Smiling opening her arms wide telling her that everything was alright; nope she always had some excuses to cover up her absence.

After some hours a man who looked like he was in his mid-thirties walked towards her carrying a board written SAGE RAE,

Her young lady your mom trusted me to take you home. Sage rose up from the dusty bench and shoved her bags at him and entered the taxi. 'Rude' he scoffed placing the bags in the boot.

The journey was awkwardly silent because no one wanted to say a word. First sage was mad at everyone for her shitty life, second the driver was mad because Sage was being a bratty bitch.

"You know kid; you'll never survive with that bitchy attitude of yours." Sage just shrugged her shoulders and looked outside,

"What do you know about life," she rudely scoffed taking her ear pods connecting Bluetooth "just because you get to drive different type people that don't mean you know everyone." The driver looked at her from the rear-view mirror and smacked his lips.

"I'd like to see how you cop in this town… children these days." He shook his head and minded his own business. He's seen many brats like her getting ahead of themselves and falling in the whirlwind of life.

"Tell me more," she wore her ear pods and sank in her pool of sadness.

In another house hold, a family of four sat down and the environment around them was not pleasing at all,

"How dare you do something so stupid?" A woman yelled in rage. Everyone that sat around the two kept their thoughts to their selves. "You've been nothing but a burden in this house now you are going to bring another parasite in my house," she threw the vase

near across the room. The ones near her moved to the other side of the living room, who wanted to be blessed with bruises.

"Come down mom, she'll be living here till she leaves for collage…" a plate came flying his way but he dodged it.

"Shut up!! What do you know?" She pointed at the woman who stood in the corner. "That stupid woman has changed you so much and made you, an imbecile like her."

The woman listened at all that was said and left upstairs. Her husband just sat there like a coward he was.

"Your so weak for your own good, I never raised you so that women control you." He was indeed weak he couldn't protect his wife from his controlling mom.

"I guess you are part of the women that control me," He answered back for the first time in his life. His mom was shocked she almost fell off the chair.

"What was that…"

"can you just stop it for once," He interrupted he raising up from the wooden chair. "You've been nothing but a bridge in my life…. For once just let me have my way." The maid that was cleaning the floor was hit by another vase cutting her arm.

"Have your way, what has that lead you to?" she barked. "marring some bitch that is uneducated.. you've soiled the Landon name.

"stop talking to me about bullshit family name, for crying out loud this is my family we are talking about… my fucking family,"

"Ive done done everything that you've always told me to…. So now its my turn," Luke looked at his mom and pointed the door making everyone gasp. " Leave, and when you feel like am your son and you can trust and treat me like the others you can come back."

Luke went up stairs and halted his steps,

"And don't talk to me about the family business.. I quit." Before Luke could take a step ahead a hand stopped him but he still looked ahead.

"Are you sure about this?" his brother questioned. " We can all keep this behind and solve this." Luke chuckled and glanced at his brother on his side.

"Can you cut the crap, stop pretending to be nice and get the hell out of my house we all know that you've always wanted the company." He took slow steps the stairs. "There have it all the perfect son."

Their mother walked restlessly in the living room, after everything this stupid son chose to go against me and choose that slut, ill make sure they all pay.

Samantha Landon was the mother of Luke, Brandon, Lizzy and Evan the youngest. She raised her children on her own after their dad died of a heart attack. She fought with her husband's family to retain his wealth that he left for his children.

Her in laws never liked her because she was not enough for their son and she couldn't continue the family legacy. She worked so hard to fit in and they let her be, now she forgot on how it felt to be belittled
