Chapter 39 : An Awaited Return

I didn’t say anything more to her after that. How could I? It wasn’t like it was something impossible to believe. If I was her daughter, then I was the Alpha’s heir, even if I was an Omega.

Marisol didn’t press me for anything more that night, and I wanted to believe it was because she could see how difficult all of this was for me. But I didn’t give much credence to the thought. It might just be wishful thinking that I had a mother that cared for me.

Marisol called for one of the servants and directed her to take me to my room.

“You aren’t a prisoner here,” Marisol told me softly as I was led away. “But you are not allowed to leave.”

I turned to her sharply. “You just described a prisoner,” I scoffed at her.

“No,” she said with a soft smile. “Think of it more as being grounded.”

I didn’t answer her, just turned and left the hall.

I was led down a cavern out of the Alpha Hall, and in the corridor, I could see that there were many other doors leading to other places.
