15 Tom's diappearance

By the end of the timer for the skill, the vines all withered away into dust and got swept away with the air.

Not even the spikes on the hound's dead body were left behind. All became but simple dust particles that got swayed by the lowest of winds.

William looked at his status, and there, he could see the changes that had happened even though his level had not increased this time.

'It will take a day for 1 point of vitality to come back. Leveling up also seems like a faraway idea…'

William closed the status again as there was nothing to do with it now.

He went inside the tower and ate some pieces of bread that he had divided into small parts so that it wouldn't get exhausted too soon.

'A few days… I have to preserve it for a few days…' William willed with a steel heart, he had to preserve the food and eat it slowly for a few days at least.

But the idea was not looking good, all these killings and running around while fighting had taken a toll on his body.

His stomach needed food and if he didn't give it much, then would come the bad days that he was very familiar with.

Feelings of vomiting yet nothing to get out, nausea, and can't able to eat properly even though you have food now, truly the worst feelings.

He needed to eat regularly yet small portions in order to not reach that level of low again and preserve the food altogether.

Inside the tower, he clicked on the button again finding the hologram he had specially come to the tower for.

He had a reward pending and with a single click on the hologram, William got yet another message.

[You have opened the rewards for completing a wave.]

[+7 Tower Points]

"Ughh, fuck you." He grimaced over the fact that there was still no food.

Yet getting the points was also a good thing, it was the only way he could upgrade his tower.

====

Tower points- 12

Upgrade options- 6

Third Wave reward already received

The fourth wave in 00:4:20:12

====

'Again 12 points? Is it like a staple number for me?' He thought yet still satisfied that he had some options to buy from now again.

There were six upgrade options out of which only a few were of any use to him.

====

Tower Maintenance- 3 Tower points per 1 Tower Health point (Already full)

+5 Tower's defense ability- 5 Tower points (1 time done, 5 times cap for the current Tower level)

Increase tower height- 10 points

1 attack bot- 15 points

1 defense bot- 15 points

Random elemental buff- 50 points

====

He already knew that, it was expected to have a cap on how many times he could get the defense up.

'Increasing the height of the tower is in no way a good option no matter how times I think about it.'

When he looked at the options, there were only two of them that were of use to him. William grinned while looking at the amount he needed and the amount he already had.

They were the defense bot and the attack one. The best ones out of all.

William thought about going to the world chat to find something about the bots or whether the others have the same types of upgrade options too.

But soon, he remembered about Tom again. The guy had not messaged all this time.

====

[Tower_WILLIAM: How was the wave this time?]

====

William waited for a few minutes on that tab thinking that the message would have an instant response but that was not the case at all.

Tom didn't message for a few minutes and that was when William knew something was wrong.

In the end, all he could do was close the message and go to the world chat to find any information.

There was a message he stopped at. It was the kind of message that was sent after every few seconds by some random guy.

Yet all this time, William had ignored it but not this time.

====

[Tower_MIGHTYSWORD22: We get no messages for the ones who die because of these waves, just think about how many die due to these waves, the ones who haven't fought all their lives… getting eaten by these fucking animals.]

====

It was the typical sentimental message William didn't care about yet it was hitting him this time because of Tom who had most probably, in William's heart, died.

It was the only explanation.

William closed the World chat, he didn't feel like looking at it anymore. Before knowing, a frown had formed on his face, his eyebrows had arched with frustration.

Yet William unknowing of this development and in his thoughts just closed his eyes and tried to sleep.

A wave was going to hit in a few hours and he had to remove any mental stress from all the fights and miscellaneous stuff.

Soon minutes turned to hours and William woke up, he checked his hologram for the time and sighed.

Only two hours were left before the wave would hit.

'Still no message from he fucker huh…' William decided to not open the 100km chat anymore.

It was a habit to open it again and again as there was nothing else to do other than talk with Tom.

It was not like a bond was formed between the two, William was sure about that yet talking to Tom was pretty easy with how much he messaged on his own and how he didn't mind William ignoring his messages all the time.

There were not many people out there like Tom, that William knew. Finding such a guy was pretty lucky by his side.

But William was now just determined to go with his old ways again, keeping to himself. The only way that had made him survive all this time and will in the future.
