A different perception than Mana

'That's it…'

William was sitting inside the tower, his eyes were closed shut while his arms were crossed.

He was so engrossed in his thoughts and the peace of mind that he did not care for anything. The routine of fighting raids and learning the skill had been too regular.

'Is this really what I was looking for… all this time?' He said with a deep gasp from his heart, while he had his eyes shut, his whole concentration was at his core.

The core was pulsating with pristine energy, the one he was familiar with, the one he had seen coming out of him before.

He found the same energy. It felt so pure that William had a tough time observing it inside him.

TING

William finally opened his eyes and gave a mental command to look at the notifications too.

The hologram came out and William read the notifications thoroughly.

=====

[You are the first person in the Tower Defense realm to have found the vitality present in the mortal body.]

[You have gained a title, "The one who found the essence named Vitality"]

[+2 wisdom, + 1 intelligence gained]

[Skill 'Vitality perception' gained!]

=====

'…" William looked at the notification and couldn't help but pinch his nose.

'I thought I finally sensed the mana inside me… but this is unexpected…'

William opened his stats and looked at the title he had just gained and the extra point in both wisdom and intelligence.

At the skills section, he could see one, the only skill he had acquired till now.

He mentally commanded to know more about it and the hologram changed into a small one.

Vitality Perception

Type: Sensory

Proficiency: Level 0

Rare

Vitality is the life force that flows through mortal bodies, representing the core energy that sustains life. If a user unlocks this skill, it means that the user possesses a unique connection to the fundamental life force within yourself and others. The proficiency can be increased with how better you can perceive the vitality inside an entity.

William nodded in understanding, he was going for something yet he got something else.

Yet this development was understandable, it was a mistake that turned fortuous for him.

He had concentrated on the energy that had come out of him while he used the sacrificial tomb.

He knew in his heart that the energy was his vitality yet he still took it as a reference thinking he would get the hang of understanding the mana inside him too.

He closed his eyes again and this time he did not seem to need a lot of concentration to see the white colored orb inside his body, right at the chest.

It felt like he was used to feeling it now, the orb of light was bright and William could feel that it was a very important thing for him, more than anything.

The more he delved into this energy, the more it felt like he had to keep it stocked up or full always.

[Your understanding of 'Vitality Perception' has increased- level 1 reached!]

William looked at the information that had just popped into his arm with satisfaction,

Just when he closed his eyes to feel this energy again, another notification came that told him that it was time for the next, William was surprised by how time flew since he had started learning stuff.

He was not a very bright student but when it came to stuff that would help him survive and also make him stronger, he had the drive to do anything.

----

In the Present…

William was sitting on the ground meditating, it was now a whole full day since he had gained this skill.

All this time, he went through many waves which totaled up to 10 since the waves only took place in the daytime, and when the night fell, the time remaining till the next wave came always increased to around 10 hours.

William took that time to rest his mind and eat the stuff he had got from the rewards.

He had 1 liter of water and 5 of those leather water bottles now.

As for the food, he had 2 more loaves of bread the same size as before.

While others got cooked food of various kinds, William was unlucky in this measure, he only got bland bread to eat yet he didn't complain much.

As long as his stomach was full, it didn't matter.

But there was also a thing called a 'healthy diet' which while William never had but his consumption of eggs, greens, and meat was still there on Earth.

Here, since he came to this place, he only ate bread with small sips of water.

William knew he had to eat better stuff soon or his stomach and the body would be a mess.

He had already started seeing symptoms with how he had very bad bowel movements.

This made him come to a decision really quickly.

He had meat in front of him all this time yet the only problem was how he could cut that hound open and eat the meat inside.

There was also the fact that the meat was raw and he had no measure to actually cook it.

This made him question how the ancestors of humanity, the cavemen ate meat when they had not discovered fire.

William had his eyes closed and he was meditating yet he was not feeling out the vitality inside him nor her had his mind blank.

With a clear mind, he was trying to make a decision.

William could either eat that thing raw or not eat it, he was doing this for the nutrients and protein he could get from meat.

'But what if I get food poisoning? The last time that happened, diarrhea left me half-dead in bed… I can't let that happen this time…'

William opened his eyes and looked at his stats, he had leveled up to 4 now and his vitality had increased by two points just like the other stats.

He had converted each corpse of the monsters into Tower Points which included the hound's corpse that he had saved all this time.

Yet he still had a hound's corpse at the tower's corner, it was the one from the last raid which meant it was fresh and William had time to think it through before it starts to rot.

Night had come and William tried to sleep, tomorrow was the 16th wave that he was supposed to fight.
