Total Drama: The Hunter

A story in which a new character is added to the Total Drama cast. Aoife Jackson was just your everyday ordinary high schooler; not too popular but also not an outcast. Upon learning of the release of the game show Total Drama Island, he and his friends all decided to apply, not truly expecting much. Aoife was quite surprised to see the letter in his mail, expecting the accepted applicants to be people far more interesting than himself. Follow along as we discover more about Aoife and his mysterious past, as well as his interesting future. I chose to write this story as I’ve noticed there aren’t a ton of interesting TDI fanfics, so decided to take matters into my own hands.

Fighting The Beast

A/N: So, I've decided to further delve into some of the more supernatural aspects of the story in relation to the main character. I've chosen to give him an ability that fits with the current story as well as the idea I had for his character since I'd first created him.

While I've shown scenes showcasing it, I haven't fully explained what I mean when I say the main character is crazy. The main character is different from Izzy in his insanity, where Izzy is viewed as crazy in that she'll do anything in the name of excitement, while the main character is crazy in the way that he loves hunting and the thrill of it, and he'll view just about anything as prey.

But along with this means that, the longer Aoife goes without hunting, the more he'll need to hunt.

What this means storywise will be further expanded upon in this and future chapters.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Watching the gigantic palm of the creature slammed toward the figure of the two, Aoife reacted quickly. Grabbing the still slightly dazed Izzy, Aoife launched the two backwards just out of the beasts reach.

Looking downward at Izzy, Aoife figured she'd snapped out of it enough to at least move on her own. As such, Aoife unceremoniously let go of her, a grin spreading across his face as his figured once more launched itself, this time toward the now slammed down palm of the creature.

Landing on the massive hand of the beast, Aoife quickly began to scale the creatures arm, keeping his figure steady by centering himself in the middle.

The beast roared out once more at its failure to bring an end to the ant-like creature who'd caused it such pain. Face shifting into a snarl of unrestrained rage, the beast stared down at Aoife with its one good eye.

Reaching over with its other hand, the beast smacked at the position Aoife was at, as if it were smacking off an annoying mosquito.

Taking this opportunity as a chance to inflict some damage to the beast, Aoife targeted a location that would appear surprising to most - the armpit.

The reason Aoife had chosen this location as his point of attack was simple, this was a central point where multiple nerves that control the arm were located. In simple terms, this meant that if Aoife could stab into this region, he could effectively cripple an entire arm of the beast.

The beast could only watch on with a derisive sneer on its features, not worried in the slightest about possible damages. This confidence came from the unbelievable resistance that its skin carried, something that had previously allowed it to easily take a hit from Izzy with no visible damage to it.

However, as the spear struck down, the beasts expression quickly contorted from one of derision to dawning horror, before even that disappeared as pain overrode its senses.

Somehow, Aoife had managed to not only pierce through the toughened skin of the beast, he'd also somehow managed to stab through the even tougher muscles that laid underneath.

This damage seemed to come as a surprise to everyone besides Aoife, even Izzy looking over in muted shock at the surprising scene.

The reason Aoife didn't appear shocked was that he had expected this outcome. The way in which Aoife had inflicted such a high amount of damage to the creature was also the same reason for the seeming manic state at random periods of time.

Aoife knew about the cause behind this, as while he couldn't remember their faces, Aoife remembered three friends he had when he was much younger. Each of them had some sort of unique and unnatural characteristic to them which allowed them to connect.

Over time, the four of them worked out exactly how these eccentricities worked, coming to be very close friends. However, this group of friends were separated one by one as their families tragically had to move away.

(Bonus points to whoever can guess all three other members of the group. Careful, one of them is rather tricky and not someone who'd come to mind immediately, they are all part of the Total Drama cast however.)

As such, Aoife could no longer remember the faces of these long-lost friends, only the memories he had made with them.

Recollecting all of this, Aoife remembered exactly what had been discovered about himself. That was, that Aoife's love for hunting with his father had quickly shown some unusual side-effects.

After his first successful hunt, Aoife found himself far stronger than even the biggest other seven year-old he knew, his strength rivalling that of even a 12 year-old. And as he and his father kept hunting, Aoife realized that his strength would increase with each successful kill.

However, Aoife quickly realized that if he participated in a kill but wasn't solely responsible, it didn't seem to increase his strength. Atop this, the strength increase was proportional to the strength of the creature he killed, the stronger it was the more his own strength would improve.

Along with his friends, they managed to discover some other unique factors of this ability Aoife seemed to have; if he didn't hunt for a prolonged period of time, he'd get antsy and would slowly start to go manic as his mind wondered further and further toward his next hunt.

They also found that his ability didn't seem to only activate at his physical killing of an animal, but any form of hunting. This meant that if he made a trap and killed an animal, he'd still gain strength from its death.

This was the true reason Aoife had both chosen to join Total Drama, as well as the reason he lived out in the woods.

After he'd been tragically separated from his friends, the area he and his family moved to was no longer near any hunting grounds. This meant that, Aoife had slowly become more and more manic over time.

This had led to Aoife slowly losing the interest he once had in improving his body, wherein he found that the amount of strength he gained from a kill was actually also based around his own physical condition. Where before, Aoife had remained in very good shape for the exercising he completed, he'd slowly lost that strength with the decline of his physical conditioning.

Now, faced with such a titanic creature, it was no wonder Aoife wished to bring about its end. The strength gain he'd get from its death, Aoife could only imagine.

As such, with eyes brimming with anticipation, Aoife used his current positioning to launch himself further up the beast, deciding to push the advantage he'd created.

The arm Aoife had crippled was the one the beast had used to attack him, not the one he originally found himself scaling. As such, the beast found little way to attack the little menace which had now crippled not only its eye, but its arm as well.

Choosing to instead attempt to shake the tiny creature off, the  beast began to fling its one working arm back and forth, slamming it heavily into the ground in an attempt to shake the damnable creature off of it once and for all.

By this point, the creature had gained a healthy dose of fear for the being that was so puny in comparison to itself. It no longer wished to avenge the crippling of its body parts, but rather its goal was now to simply get away from this little demon.

As such, it was swinging its arm around with reckless abandon, paying no mind to the damage it caused to its arm in the process.

In an attempt to hold on, Aoife struck down with his spear, stabbing directly into the beasts arm with his now broken spear. After all, while Aoife himself did have the strength to use his spear to injure the beast, the wood it was made of was nowhere near tough enough to withstand such great strength.

As the beast wildly thrashed, letting out a small whimper of pain at the feel of its only working arm being stabbed, it eventually became too much for Aoife to bear.

As such, Aoife's body was sent soaring into the air, his figure rapidly flying toward some trees in the distance.

Figuring he'd be severely injured if he allowed himself to fall from such a height, Aoife instead reached out and grabbed onto a vine from a tree as he flew past it.

With the inherent stretchiness of the vine, it managed to swing back with Aoife's momentum.

It was at this point that a crafty look began to shine in Aoife's eyes, an idea flashing through his mind.

The beast who was currently still within the clearing it had created, let out a sigh of relief now that the being who had hurt it was finally gone. It quickly moved to make a hasty retreat, wanting to slowly recuperate itself from the damages the little demon had caused.

As its gigantic form started lumbering forward however, it couldn't help but to take one last glance in the direction the hateful little cretin had been sent flying off to.

Eyes widening, the creature couldn't believe the near unbelievable sight before its eyes.

Shockingly, the little demon that it had sent so far away was coming back, somehow its figure seemed to fly through the air at an unbelievable speed as it came straight toward the now horrified beast.

Turning to run away, the beast barely managed to move two hasty steps forward before it felt the impact of something slam into the back of its head.

Not even  capable of turning around, the creature could already tell what had happened. Even through the shock caused by the damage it had just sustained, the beast realized that the little creature had stabbed a spear through the back of its skull, piercing straight into its brain.

All the creature managed to do was let out one last dying roar before its behemoth of a figure collapsed to the ground, now nothing more than a corpse.

Heart thumping wildly, a face-splitting grin could be seen on the now shirtless figure of Aoife. In the little scuffle he'd had with the creature while on its arm, his shirt had been torn to shreds.

As Aoife looked down at the creature, he couldn't help the satisfaction that seeped into him. This was by far the toughest conquest he'd ever taken.

Aoife freely admitted that the only reason he was capable of taking on such a behemoth of a creature was its own clear inexperience in fighting, his original sneak attack, as well its massive size.

Even being as quick as it was, the creature was still quite a bit slower than Aoife or Izzy, its size making its movements that much slower. This was the main weakness Aoife had exploited to pull off such a seemingly effortless kill of the creature.

Glancing down at his hands, Aoife could feel it as a surge of strength rushed through him at his conquest.

Aoife couldn't contain himself at the feeling of strength coursing through his veins, letting out a loud roar of victory into the sky. Right now, Aoife found himself thinking that if he were to fight this creature once more, he'd be capable of coming out on top even in a fist-fight.

"That was awesome! I so call dibs on the next one though, I only got to fight it a little bit before you completely took over."

Came a cheery voice, a pouting tone coming out towards the end of the sentence.

Shocked out of his ecstatic state at the sound of this voice, Aoife turned around to look at Izzy, a frown now forming on his face.

Aoife hadn't forgotten the danger Izzy'd put herself in by blindly rushing into a fight with a creature she had no way of telling the strength of. As such Aoife prepared to give the girl a long scolding, carefully informing her of everything she'd done wrong in this hunt.

Only then would Aoife maybe consider letting her take on the next one on her own, with his supervision as well however.

It was only at this point however, that Aoife remembered something that he'd forgotten at his near all-encompassing excitement at hunting such a behemothian creature.

"Crap! We have to go find Bridgette."

After these hurried words, the two's eyes widened before they sprinted off into the forest, heading back in the direction they'd come from.
