Raina shuddered as the sky rumbled loudly, angrily. she watched in a trance as little droplets of rain began to seep into the soil and moistening the dry earth. the atmosphere was already somber and any remaining ray of sunlight was obstructed by the dark depressive clouds.

her legs wobbled when her father nudged her with his elbow. his lips were stretched into a thin disappointment line and his green eyes so similar to hers glowed with anger as he lowered his head so that no one else could pick up on his words.

"where are your manners? no wonder you are the spawn of that unfaithful woman." he snarled and she stiffened visibly. afraid that someone might have heard his harsh degrading words for his only daughter but fortunately no one was paying them any attention. see, her father was a clever man. he wouldn't tolerate a speck of dirt on his immaculate reputation so he made sure when no one was looking to drop off his mask of the honorable gentleman he claimed to be.

she straightened obediently as she watched the priest recite a prayer for the departed soul. no man standing on this graveyard was a gentleman. they were something far from it but none of them was dishonorable as her father.

it was time to lower the casket into the ground. a blond woman wailed beside the dug grave. she shook her head in denial of the death of her only young daughter who had a lot to experience and live in her life if she wasn't brutally murdered in cold blood. Raina felt sorry for the bereaved mother. truly, the most heartbreaking thing was to watch a mother lay the dead body of her child into the ground.
