A reoccurring nightmare

At midnight, a room painted in a pale green with a bunk bed shone with moonlight. Laying on the top bunk was a little girl, crying and shaking. She was only about four and had just started school that previous day. Lira was her name, she had learned to read while she was 3 and had been reading every night ever since she learned.

The previous day her mother, Mira, had gifted Lira her first fairy tale. "Red Riding Hood." The book was thin and shiny, and the story was interesting in Lira's opinion. Though when night had shown through the crack of the window, her lasting nightmares began.

A wolf as tall as the door had entered the room. Brown and gray fur, sharp jagged teeth, and piercing gray eyes. Drool dripping down the side of the wolf's mouth and words had seemed to pour out as well. "Come here" a sinister voice had run through the room. "I'm gonna eat ya!" The voice had shouted again but much more aggressively. The wolf had a long stride and keep coming closer to the four-year-old child. Her shaking and tears were prominent, her green eyes had become wet gems. As the wolf got close enough to grab her, she fell to the ground by sliding off the blanket. Flustered and in a frenzy, she crawled and then ran pass the wolf as the wolf grabbed at her but didn't succeed. Once she had made it out of her room and into the gray hallway. Lira ran for the stairs which in reality weren't that far but in the moment they had seemed like they were a mile away. Tripping and stumbling while running, she had made it to the stairs only to glance into her mum's bedroom. There in the bedroom was her step father dressed as a hunter cutting open her mum's stomach. Seeing her mother dying on the bed while her step-dad laughter filled her ears and tuned out her streaming tears and whining. The little girl was only more horrified, falling down the stairs while watching the seen, she had been caught in the arms of her grandmother. "Grandma?" She muttered while her trembling slightly calmed. The next moment, her grandmothers skin was torn and the wolf's face that was in her skin was visible. The crying and screams increased once again as she tried to escape the wolf's hold. Struggling seemed to fail and she was about to be eaten when her eyes had caught a glimpse of her brother hold a pistol that contrasted his hair greatly. The boys hair was a pale blonde while Lira's hair was red and seemed as deep of a color as blood. The boy shot the wolf's eye and the wolf had instinctively dropped her. She had scrambled to grab some footing while throwing her body in the direction of Tallis. Tallis was sitting, under the desk shaking. He stood out because of his appearance no matter the situation but in Lira's eyes he was a savior, a safe haven. As she was almost to her brother, her foot was grabbed by her step-father. While being dragged away to the kitchen, she had a glimpse of the wolf Tallis shot grabbing him and bitting off his hand. Her voice had been lost in the tears and her mind scaring with every second more of this nightmare. Successfully dragged into the kitchen, her step father had put on an apron and began pre-heating the oven. Her foot in his hand had been tied to the counter, and her hands as well were tied down. Her step father's deep brown eyes pierced her body like needles and his gel slicked brown hair had been loosen and blood stained. His manic laughter once again filled her ears and drowned out the sound of her crying. He glanced at the knife and his laughter grew louder. Laughter turned to a creepy hum, he was preparing cake batter. Red velvet cake, just a bit darker than Lira's hair. Her step father walked closer to her, he spread out Lira's hair and cut it with a clever an inch from her head. The hair was mixed into the cake batter and next were her fingers. Blood splattered and dripped, intense pain filled her mind yet no more screams would leave her mouth. "Chop chop. Hehehe, next is the feet. Chop chop. Then it's the arms. Chop chop and then it's the legs. Limb are gone, hehe!" His speech was continuous, saying each part he cut off and mixed with the cake. Her had lost everything but her upper torso and head, her step father moved what was left of her onto a pan and covered her in foil. Placed in the oven with her limbs in the cake, she couldn't cry, she couldn't scream. Heat and pain consumed her and a pain in her head bit at her eyes.

Her body flung up, tears streaming down her face, she was alive. A cruel nightmare, a very cruel nightmare it was. Unable to move in fear and psychological pain, she silently cried. Sitting upright, crying there for an hour. Finally Tallis entered the room, his facial expression shocked to see his sister awake so early and crying at that.

"Lira, are you okay?" His voice worriedly said.

Her head turned ever so slightly and more tears erupted from her eyes.

"Sis?"

Her voice wouldn't come out, she tried but nothing. More tears and redness filled her face, eventually her body fainted from mental and physical exhaustion.

Yes, the names have meaning. I’m not that stupid. Tallis = The sixteenth-century Thomas Tallis is renowned particularly for his choral music and composed for royalty. Lira = different spelling than Lyra but same meaning of Harp.
